Had a buddy run me through a quick exercise and figured I'd share here as I think for those trying to gauge the draft class and prospects such a thought is always a good one....
Essentially they give you scenarios of drafted round and player vs another drafted round and player...now we keep these realistic....as example we aren't asking Sadiq in second round or Sam Roush in the 3rd round as Sadiq ain't falling to the second round.
Few of the best ones he shot at me that took me a massive amount thinking and honestly had to explain my thought process were when he started providing two prospect scenarios...
Daylon Everette CB in the 3rd Round and Eli Raridon TE in the 4th Round OR Sam Roush TE in the 3rd Round and Tacario Davis CB in the 4th Round
I eventually landed on Roush/Davis as the better value. Roush to me is one of the most complete TE prospects albeit with perhaps not nearly as high of a ceiling. I love his blocking chops, receiving abilities and his desire to take yards from defenses in any capacity - if that is with his hands on the ball or his hands on a defender, he embraces exerting his will on others....where Raridon is a VERY willing blocker but is more body and technique blocker while Roush throws his will/heart in there. Everette is like Roush almost in that I think he is one of the most known commodities in the CB draft class albeit with a slightly lower ceiling than many others.....the reason I give nod to Roush/Davis though is just the fact that Davis I think can nearly do all Everette does just not as consistently but I'm banking on the athlete and the fact he does so well in zone calls. (neither is a man coverage beast FYI).
Dani Dennis-Sutton EDGE 2nd Round and Bryce Boettcher LB in the 3rd Round OR Josiah Trotter LB in the 2nd Round and Max Llewellyn EDGE in the 3rd Round
My buddy called this the reach options....but I disagreed immediately and wanted to go DDS and Boettcher out of the gate before he even said the Edge in the second scenario BUT to be fair I did pause because I equally believe in Llewellyn being a Day 2 prospect as much as I believe in DDS being a top 40 prospect. Llewellyn isn't quite as athletic as we typically like (7.76 RAS...more testing at pro day could raise it)....but talk about a SOLID edge piece when it comes to rushing the passer. 17.2% win rate on pass rushes is awesome and his 84.7 true pass set pass rush grade is insane. BUT.....Dani Dennis-Sutton has been one of my favorite edge prospects for about a half a year now and I am not relinquishing the chance to add him to this team and would FULLY support drafting him with our first 2026 pick without this scenario being an option. To top it off like a cherry Boettcher is a CRAZY athletic LB that would have a real shot of forcing McDuffie and Zaire to not see as many snaps as they likely will.
One final one I'll share was a three prospect option...
Eli Stowers TE in the 2nd / Ted Hurst in 4th / Ephesians Prysock CB in 5th OR Chris Johnson CB in the 2nd / Sam Roush in 4th / Jeff Caldwell WR in 5th
This is tough....both Stowers and Johnson I don't think should be there when we pick in the 2nd....both Hurst and Roush I also don't think should be there at our 4th AND Prysock I don't think should be there at our 5th....and Caldwell is such a crazy athletic freak I won't be shocked if he goes anywhere from 90th to 190th overall....
In the end I chose the one that I feel out the gate in 2026 season would help our team the most and that is Johnson/Roush/Caldwell DESPITE I actually think option 1 I believe in more will be three dynamite prospects by 2027 or 2028...Caldwell is the wildcard of my choices and I hate trying to predict what he will do....but worst case you have a 6'5' speed freak who can be your MVS out the gate....
Was a blast and forces you to think of all the prospects...and then add in do you choose prospects or 2026 suspected impact.....
