There are currently 8 names out there for the Packers' search:
  • Jim Caldwell
  • Chuck Pagano
  • Josh McDaniels
  • Brian Flores
  • Dan Campbell
  • Mike Munchak
  • Matt LaFleur
  • Pat Fitzgerald
Campbell, LaFleur, and Munchak are the names I like best from that bunch. The reports have been that the Packers will likely interview 12-14 candidates, which means that 4-6 more names should emerge. I hope some of the following are included:
  • Bruce Arians
  • Jim Harbaugh
  • Dave Toub
  • Kris Richard
  • Eric Bieniemy
  • Freddie Kitchens

Surprised we don’t have a poll

This is interesting. And note, I'm saying interesting and not conclusive. There's a lot of context not accounted for here, but it's not worthless either.

Gase:
  • Denver:
    • 2012 (Pre-Gase): 22.1% Offensive DVOA; 30.1 PPG
    • 2013 (Gase): 33.7% Offensive DVOA; 37.9 PPG
    • Difference: +11.6% DVOA; + 7.8 PPG
    • 2014 (Gase): 19.9% Offensive DVOA; 30.1 PPG
    • 2015 (Post-Gase): -8.8% Offensive DVOA; 22.2 PPG
    • Difference: -28.7% DVOA; -7.9 PPG
  • Chicago:
    • 2014 (Pre-Gase): 0.0% Off. DVOA; 19.9 PPG
    • 2015 (Gase): 6.8% Off. DVOA; 20.9 PPG
    • Difference: +6.8% DVOA; +1 PPG
    • 2016 (Post-Gase): -2.6%; 17.4 PPG
    • Difference: -9.4% DVOA; -3.5 PPG
  • Miami:
    • 2015 (Pre-Gase): -7.3% Off. DVOA; 19.4 PPG
    • 2016 (Gase): 6.9% Off. DVOA; 22.7 PPG
    • Difference: +14.2%; +3.3 PPG
Everywhere that Gase has gone, he's immediately improved the offensive success in both DVOA and points, and in both instances that Gase has departed a given team as OC, they've gotten worse in both categories.

McDaniels:
  • New England:
    • 2005 (Pre-McD): 15.2% Off. DVOA; 23.7 PPG
    • 2006 (McD): 12.2% Off. DVOA; 24.1 PPG
    • Difference: -3% DVOA; +.4 PPG
    • 2008 (McD): 14.6% Off. DVOA; 25.6 PPG
    • 2009 (Post-McD): 26.4% Off. DVOA; 26.7 PPG
    • Difference: +12% DVOA; +1.1 PPG
    • 2011 (Pre-McD): 17.9% Off. DVOA; 32.1 PPG
    • 2012 (McD): 30.8% Off. DVOA; 34.8 PPG
    • Difference: +12.9% DVOA; +2.7 PPG
  • Denver:
    • 2008 (Pre-McD): 21% Off. DVOA; 23.1 PPG
    • 2009 (McD): 1.3% Off. DVOA; 20.4 PPG
    • Difference: -19.7% DVOA; -2.7 PPG
    • 2010 (McD): 6.2% Off. DVOA; 21.5 PPG
    • 2011 (Post-McD): -5.1% Off. DVOA; 19.3 PPG
    • Difference: -11.3% DVOA; -2.2 PPG
  • St. Lous:
    • 2010 (Pre-McD): -15.2% Off. DVOA; 18.1 PPG
    • 2011 (McD): -22.8% Off. DVOA; 12.1 PPG
    • Difference: -7.6% DVOA; -6 PPG
    • 2012 (Post-McD): -4.7 Off. DVOA; 18.7 PPG
    • Difference: +18.1% DVOA; +6.6 PPG
It's much more of a mixed bag for McDaniels. His first go around in NE, there was virtually no change before and after, however they improved dramatically in DVOA after he left. They got a lot worse when he showed up in Denver, but also worse after he left in Denver. They got much worse when he took over in STL and much better after he left. And yet they improved when he came back to New England.

Now that the Bears are done, I would hope Vic Fangio gets a call from us. I get that Mack was a huge part of his success, but Fangio was already trending upward without Mack he just put them way over the top.

We would be doing ourselves a huge favor to steal Fangio away.
