The worst part about the trade was what Devine gave the Rams for this guy. It took us YEARS to overcome the mess he caused. Starr should never have been the GM back then either. Talk about in over one's head.
Between Bengtson and Devine we were not going anywhere. Starr just needed a few years behind a good head coach before taking the helm. The coach who we may have been able to snag at that time was Joe Paterno.

The best defense of the trade from Jerry's side is "Well at this point in the offseason a lot of teams are capped and it's the best they could get"
I saw a clip of Jones actually saying that the reason for the trade was that he wanted to shore up their run defense.

That is if we can force the Lions to throw the ball more. They like to pound us with that run game of theirs.
Well, that's frustrating. They're not the only team in the league who can do that either. Maybe we can do the same to them. I want to see Love have a good season though, it's time.

Parsons wants to win a SB. He had to be frustrated by the misfortunes in Big D. He is not in GB simply to boost his ego.
I agree, whole team is together in their motivation for a Lombardi. As Holmgren said, this trophy means more to US!

Micah is building his legacy, winning World Championship #14 for and with the Green Bay Packers will cement his legendary status in the NFL and in Titletown.

This team is together on a mission! Path to #14!

Ultimately, they don't give out participation trophies in the NFL. Gute will and should be judged on his successes and failures as a GM during his Packer tenure. There will be those that judge him on this decision and this decision alone. While it is a big decision and will have a big impact on the organization, in either direction, it shouldn't be the only thing that fans judge Gute on. Overall, Gute has made a lot of quality decisions, I hope the Parsons one ends up being one of his best.

Yes. Plus it beats the decision by Stephen Jones ti convince Jerry to go all in!

Disgraced Joe Paterno?

Be careful of what you wish for. But Yeah. We have to slow down the run game and move the ball when we have it.

Yes, I have more concerns with the Packers offense putting up points, than I do with Haf's defense giving up points.

Packers win if they can put up 26. Can they?
I like their chances, but I have seen LaFleur and his offenses underachieve in too many big games, to have supreme confidence.

Ok. I'll first say....these are the deals you do to win da Title.
Your team was really good last year.
You won 12 games iirc.
But.....1-5 in da division.
A fingerNAIL away from 75/25 chance at going 0-6 in division.
I will concede we don't know if Santos would have made the FG.......

Youre close....def a top 8 team in NFC(division winners, and second place candidates in each division.... I believe almost everyone could make this argument...) because we all have to avoid injuries, regression and be rewarded by the football gods w/just a little bit of luck.....
But you and da Lions have to now be neck and neck to win division.
I give the Bears a 2-3/10 shot to win the division. Vikings 1/10.

This is a gamble. That cannot be denied.
If the salary cap did not matter, as some people claim, there's no reason that Kansas City would've traded us a 31-year-old future Hall of Fame guard for a fifth round pick iirc.

It basically made Ben Johnson throw out any play that requires Caleb Williams to hold the ball for more than three seconds against your team.

Your run defense is going to be key and you just lost the anchor of your line.
I made my feelings known that it would be very nice to get Mike Parsons but I also wouldn't be sad if we didn't get him because of the future investment of pics and the money required to do so..... and that is with a rookie quarterback on a rookie pay scale.......your QB is one of the highest paid football players in the league.....

We will see if it works out, but I just wanted to put this out there as a discussion as to which of you believes it is worth it and who really is worried or because of the implications of the future...... Khalil was amazing for us for one year and then he got hurt and was a shell of himself afterwards.........

Because of the knee injury that Prescott suffered....Jerruh....couldn't live with the possibility of that happening to 2 players in a row.....with that much money on the line.

This trade just made our already ridiculously tough division much more difficult for 3 of us.
But....winning and beating you guys will be much sweeter with Micah Parsons on your team.....
Feel free to discuss.......

The Lions can pound more than most of our opponents without Goff doing a thing. MLF said last year they had the best OL in the league. That may have changed somewhat but not that much. In last years opening night against the Rams in OT the Lions got the opening kick of the extra session and went the distance to the end zone without a single pass. When the Lions faced us the first time last year they were conservative and mainly ran the ball. So if you cannot get them in long yardage situations they will eat you up even on 4th down.

Right. For him the HOF is bittersweet with a Lombardi.

They can kill us with the pass as well but at least it gives you a chance to disrupt. Washington beat them by forcing turnovers and Goff mistakes. When we beat the Lions on Thanksgiving 2023 it was because of just that. But a team that goes 15-2 can win even with mistakes.

Hey Caleb. So initially for myself, it was absolutely shocking. It’s so unlike the Packers to do a “Khalil Mack” like trade. NOW we’re getting into the contract structure and it’s very interesting. So it’s basically what Rodgers would call a
1-3-1. There’s actually an “out”. After 1 year. If my math is correct it’s a 1-yr $44Mil if released by March 2026. However that’s including the $9.97Mil we applied already. So another $34Mil. He’s on a 1-year trial in some respects. Yet it’s highly unlikely Micah doesn’t jive or perform, but I’ll through that safety net out there because it’s important.
Now. If Micah is NOT traded before starting league year 2026? The Packers own his butt for like 3 more years. So the 1-yr engagement turns into a Marriage.

What’s also cool is GB would have the ability to trade him when he just turns 30yrs old. Assuming he never peaks (the bulk of Edge players do after year 4) and if just performs about similar? What do you think a team will trade for a premier Edge Rusher that just flipped 30yrs old? Two Day 1’s? A Day 1 and a good Starter? A Day 1 and 2nd Rounder? A 1st/2nd/3rd?

This was an absolutely positively brilliant acquisition. Don’t let ANYONE fool you. The ONLY reason Dallas traded Micah is because it got personal. My personal belief based on each interview? Jerry asked Micah to fire his agent after his agent told Jerry to shove it! It got nasty between Agent Vs Owner.

By total coincidence Mulughette just happens to be at Jordan Loves wedding and there’s some behind the scenes talk. Gute stews up and makes a reasonable offer probably a pair of Day 1’s and a Day 2 pick swap or similar. After consideration Jerry asks for a player also. We consider it and counter including player but retracting the Day 2 selection. Preseason ends and Micah Camp holds out. To avoid publicity comes the fake story (with a thread of truth about a crappy Run D) and voila. Here we are with possibly the best Defender in the NFL this side of Myles Garrett for at least 1 to 4 seasons.

I get your point and that's all I was trying to say.....
It's not like I posted it on the main Green Bay thread page where the parsons trade is being discussed avidly amongst y'all being happy of course....
I was trying to have a separate discussion about the historical aspects of a trade like this(Khalil) and how it affects the division outside of your normal Packers fan who wants to enjoy the trade and not have a guy like me....kind of poo poo on it.
That was all.

This was a total lucky acquisition. Thankfully Gute had stuck piled some Cap. Beforehand we showed just over +$31Mil, and similar again in 2026 so we had the Cap to do this.

My only hope is Wooden and Brinson or Stackhouse and Brooks can hold it down at interior DL. At least 2 are 3rd year Veterans, but losing Clark is a little scary.

Dak Prescott was being interviewed and was questioned on his thinking about the trade. Said he wasn't completely surprised and said all of the usual boiler plate NFL QB quotes - and then, this:

"“I know what adding a guy like Kenny Clark, adding a true leader, a real man that’s going to only elevate this team, who’s been a Pro Bowl player and is excited about being here” Prescott said, per Archer."

I'm not normally one to parse a partial quote to twist it into something that it MIGHT be. May or may not be a Freudian where he was giving his opinion on Clark after a couple of days - I couldn't help myself thinking that Clark is known to be a leader - Parsons not so much? He said they ADDED a TRUE LEADER. Adding something means it wasn't there before...

How he affects the locker room will be up to the Packers to decide. As I stated somewhere else, the Packers need to make him aware that doing his podcast during the season could cause unnecessary distractions. The podcast during the season is my only real concern. I think this whole "arrogant" narrative coming from Dallas, is bunk and created by those that have an agenda against Micah. Much like the FEW here on this forum that have an agenda against me. Calling me "arrogant" on a Packers fan forum is completely ridiculous. I did enjoy the giggles though.
Yeah and I'm not that concerned with his affect on the locker room, mostly because I think it will be positive. The Cowboys are a better circus than football team, and Jerruh should have known better than to engage with Parsons directly.

Anyway, I'm not too worried on this matter.

I don't know who called you arrogant. I don't see it in your comments FWIW. And good for you for laughing through it. I've been on this forum a long time and it's just not worth fighting with people. That said, I have done it and it just isn't worth the trouble.

Disagree, many felt Jones was a massive leader when he was here and Aaron was good but not crazy high level…

Likewise Jamaal Williams some said was one of the biggest locker room presences felt gone when he left.

Love is a different kind of leader, but for sure is. Jones knew it and sensed it years ago.
Maybe, but I don't see it or I missed the stuff you read. If he is considered a leader, good for him.

IMO, he still has to carry this team throughout a season to be a genuine leader. He gets paid too much to be good for half a season. He has a great chance this year and I expect he will meet the challenge.

Yeah I thought that while Clark regressed in the pass game last year, he was solid against the run (although someone here disagreed, can't remember who). It seems like UDFA Stackhouse was a pleasant surprise. But the veterans you mention have to improve their game, no doubt.
