My opinion is they should go back to kicking in game balls. It's gotten ridiculous

Pretty sure Burrows, Chase & Higgins OR Stafford, Nakua & Adams might disagree with you. ;)
Very good points Pk, and thanks! All of those combos are outstanding. And if MN had a good QB, he certainly could be included along with Jefferson and Addison. (I'm not sure JJM is going to achieve elite QB status, although he played well yesterday.)

Nacua is amazing. Do you know the round he was drafted? He just seemed to come in under the radar and become an intsant All Pro.

Not any time soon. But the Vikings would be challenged to beat the Seahawks even with JJ out there.
My local high school just won their 13th state championship a few days ago, their 5th in 6 years. I think the Vikings would be challenged to beat them with McCarthy.

I almost feel bad for JJ

Almost...

I definitely do. By all accounts, he's a great kid, very likable in every respect. He's just not a very good NFL quarterback, but that's not necessarily his fault. He tries hard, but he's just not very good.

Not his fault that he ended up a Viking.

But... the Vikings themselves... them, I do not feel badly about. They screwed the pooch on this pick, and it coudln't have happened to a more deserving team as far as I'm concerned.

5th round, 177th overall. Very late 5th, if I recall.

Definitely a steal. He slipped because he had a really really long injury history, 4.57 40 time, and an RAS of 5.17. Most people had him projected as a reliable backup but possibly a useful return guy.

But apparently, like a lot of kids, his straight line speed was not an indicator of how fast he plays. On the field, he may not be a speed demon on the downfield "go" routes, but when he's running routes, he's slippery fast. He gets open, and he gets away. Gets open just enough to get the ball, and when he get it, he's a good YAC guy,

This article really sums up the demise of the Vikings this season. It's a Wall Street article and I don't have a subscription, but MSN reposted it(below).
As a writer, and former reporter, I love and envy this paragraph...

Nine months on, the Vikings are in the doldrums of a disappointing season. And on Sunday, they didn’t have to look far for a glimpse of how different things might have been. That’s because Darnold was standing on the other side of the field, wearing a No. 14 Seahawks jersey and a broad grin, as Seattle unleashed a comprehensive shellacking of his former team.

Man, I wish I'd have written that.... and especially about the Vikings. :roflmao:

And it is going to be mid-winter cold on Sunday. This was always going to come down to the run game, and the cold ensures that.

It's gonna be a great game. I think the Packers D makes the difference against an average Bears D and win 27-20.
I know you're not the "see, I told ya so, I called it" guy, so I'll just take a moment to point out that... you did. Nicely done. You deserve to have that noticed. ;)

I remember that! Raji had a pic six I think. He was one of the best NTs to play in GB. Great game! Great SB!

And I think Jay Cutler, one of GB's MVPs himself, took himself out at halftime because he had a hang nail, or some BS excuse. That guy was/is a total loser. But he helped GB win a lot of games against the Bears.

Has someone done a welfare check on that Bear Fan in here @Calebs Revenge ?
Actually, if I were Caleb I would still be proud. The Packers defense was suffocating for the first half of the game and the Bears were resilient. Their RBs stayed and their feet, blow after blow, and kept gaining yards here and there. At the end of the game, on the road, they had a chance to take the lead and potentially win but didn't make the throw.

Williams wasn't great, but made quite a few great plays. Some of those throws were elite such as the TD throw Nixon's hands, or the sideline toss over the DBs arms, or the sideline throw just under McKinney's tight coverage. Add in his scrambling and contrast it with the bad throw at the end... They've got something there and will have the confidence in two weeks to play us at home.

The Packers were the better team today, but as I said last week, I expect that we will split the series.

I agree, I was just giving him the business.
If you check the Week 14 Pick'em League thread, you'll see that he said he would never post here again. Of course, he posted less than one minute afterward and three more times after that.....without responses from anyone else on this forum - unforced errors.

I congratulate y'all on a hard **** win. The moderators can delete my account. I will never post here again because I've given my last ounce of energy to this team until they win three Super Bowls in five years if they do that, I'll be a fan again till that they can all die horrible deaths...... because that's what they've done to me every Sunday for 40 years a slow Chinese water, torture, death and I'm done. I don't care if we win into Sundays and win the Super Bowl. They need two more before I will ever publicly state that I'm a fan again I'm done with this team. I hope the stadium implodes.

I really got to see first hand and in real-time how the Bears operate. They actually make up for some minor deficiencies with grit, which is admirable.

If Caleb can continue to refine his craft I think he’s good enough to have a nice career. He’s got a little Mahomes in him when scrambling, but can use some more coaching up staying in the pocket and minor accuracy work. Overall I think he’s better than the bulk of Chicago QB’s we’ve seen this century. He’s does an adequate to good job of protecting the ball (minus the last bonehead toss).

Chicago seems to have a good OL, RB and WR and TE rooms. Just need to work on that Defense some. I’m drafting 2 of my first 3 players on Defense + adding 1 more moderate FA signing to shore up that D.

A loss for the Packers would’ve been devastating to our Divisional race. A 1/2 game lead just means GB holds their own destiny. Our toughest remaining game will be @ Denver. Yet no games are gimme games. While Chicago is positioned better to play at home, I think it’s a very winnable game also.

For playoff positioning,

10.5 Wins is a playoff lock (6th-7th seed) as it takes 11 Wins to pass us.

11.5 Wins should give us a chance at a North Title BECAUSE our North rivals would need 12 Wins to pass us.

12.5 Wins (12-4-1) should lock the Division

And I would not condemn Williams too much for that last toss. If it was 3rd down he throws it away. As much as the Bears put it to us on 4 second half drives the Packers still have a top defense that does not quit either. Engabare makes a great stop on 3rd which precipitated not pounding the rock on 4th down.
The Packers D made maybe its best and most critical play of the season On 4th down. Caleb went left and due to the Packers pursuit he admitted he did not think he could get the first down. So he has to turn and try to make a throw. Evan Williams took away the short toss but left Kmet in the end zone. But a smart Nixon picked him up before Williams made his decision. And Nixon actually baited Caleb into that throw. The QB made plenty of those throws in the second half but not this time.
In a sense that is the double edged sword of a multi talented QB. He has too many options. If it was Jeff Goff, he gives to Gibbs or fakes it to him, then tosses to his TE. He never would try to bootleg on 4th and 1 in a do or die moment like that.

The game in Denver will be even more difficult. On the road in a place that was never too nice to us. 11-2 Broncos. Another young, fast, elusive QB who has developed. A great pass rushing defense. And good special teams.
The Broncos are virtually a shoe in to win their division. They are not stressed with must win games. And we are not very familiar with them.
Who knows? Maybe playing a team that has had it go their way all year might work to our advantage than one of desperation. If nothing else the weather there will feel like Florida compared to yesterday.
