Part of the process of negotiating for the FO is to get close enough to the market area without going over. Many players won’t want to move halfway across the country for little to nothing. Also a player can easily lose a few million annual to cost of living variances or state tax rates. Then there’s the possibility of getting on a team that can’t exceed .500 and that absolutely affects the future demand for said player. Lots of unknowns not to mention the stress of moving. The grass isn’t always Green and Golder on the other side. We’ve had several players go to other teams to fade away. Now if it’s $5mil less a season with 2 years guaranteed seasons I get the uneasiness. If we’re within $2-3mil per guaranteed he’d be wise to wrap up a contract before he blows an ankle etc.Now I wouldn't be shocked one bit if GB has a number they won't go over with Tom.....IF the two sides don't get together enough, I'd 100% support them playing hard ball and saying fine, take this deal (say $25.5M/Yr for four years) OR after a week we are going to start negotiations with Rasheed, and likely trade you.
FTR I 100% prefer Tom over Rasheed and to me I'm not giving Rasheed over $20M a year...but we do have to resign one of them IMO....and if Tom doesn't want to do it, it's worth securing one and moving on to other stuff.
Aaron Rodgers is one example of how sudden moves can nearly derail a nice career. There will be seasons where demand drops for various reasons. Had you told me Aaron Rodgers and Jaire Alexander together might not crack $20M a season? I’d of thought you were nutzo. Changes are real
