I have always thought this and I found an interesting stat that backs it up...
in 83 games, Dez has 15 100 yard games
in 25 games, Odell Beckham has 15 100 yard games
Dez is overpaid and overrated.
So because Bryant isn't as good as the best WR in the NFL he's overrated?
Counting stats aren't a very good measure of relative worth, especially at a position like WR where soooo much depends on the QB. Dez was injured quite a bit this year (most likely due to holding out but who wants to go on record as saying ODB is the kind of guy that will never hold out?) but when Dez has been in he's had some of the worst QBs in the NFL throwing him the ball.
Prior to this season, Dez had three straight years of 1,200+ yards receiving and 12+ TDs. Julio Jones has never had 3 consecutive seasons of 1,000+ yards and Jones has had only one season with double digit TDs. On the surface Antonio Brown looks like he's had much better receiving yardage but that's mainly a function of the INSANE number of targets that Brown gets. Bryant actually averages more yards per reception than Brown.
So yes, if the bar is the best start of any WR in NFL history, then Dez doesn't really measure up.
