It's too early to talk about 2026. Bit with Micah Parsons in mind... I was curious of how those pass rushers who put their ACLs to the test every down... How they bounce back the year after their injury?

My first thought was Atrian Peterson. Literally had his knee turned inside out one year. And came back and should've broke the rushing record the following? He was faster, stronger, didn't lose any burst at all it seemed. That year was unbelievable alone. Figuring in the knee, it's got to be some sort of divine intervention??

I went straight to Aiden Hutchinson to see what his final stats for the year. Figured that is a much closer comparison. And we can't expect divine intervention to happen every time. Lol

Hutchinson had the best year of his career.... 14.5 sacks. More tackles. 4 forced fumbles and an interception.....

Looked like he had 8 weeks of stats last year, so he went down week 8 or 9. Parsons went down week 15 I believe....

I wouldn't want to rush him back next year. But Hutchinson shown what is possible, after a pup start... Be on his A game right away, like the previous mentioned greats did....

Maybe my recall is bad..it happens, I thought Hutchinson had a tib fib fracture...thats both bones in lower leg...no ACL involved.

We don't need to overthink this...it's an ACL tear. It will take him 9-12 months to recover regardless of his position. At best he will be back at the start of the season but most likely in October or November.

It's 90% about the right mindset, which Parsons possesses. It's 10% about the body responding correctly which obviously is unknown.

I worked with his Uncle JC.
When I first met him I said.. “so I hear you’re related to Adrian?” JC said.. “no. AP related to me!”
True story!
His uncle is One of the nicest guys ever.

Btw. The High School field in Palestine AP Played on rivals some smaller College campus’. Just surprised this Midwest boy.

I don’t think it’s a physiological positive having an ACL torn. Although I do think it’s plausible to be 99% of the player they were because many times the mental recommitment makes up for any physical loss of range of motion or flexibility etc

I was stunned at not only his return but the level at which he returned. If it happened a few months earlier, maybe, but Xmas? That is like 8 months. And even if you have healed you need time to get in shape and in game shape.

Just a guess but imo some guys just have better genetics. Also if you look at the physical makeup of guys like Parsons’? you get the impression he’s going to also be on the leading edge (no pun!) of returning players from major injuries.

I don't know how he could possibly know any sort of precise rehab timetable at this point, but apparently Parsons believes he is not going to start the season on IR but may miss a few games to open it up

Good stuff. Setting a high goal. I’m going to hazard a very early guess (seeing as last week he was wincing in pain on the bike). I think he does NOT play in September, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s counting PT snaps sometime in October.
That guy had a ferocious Will to be the best. With a smidge of good fortune I think he’ll be back sooner than a typical timetable.

Better to be 100% than 85% and re-injure it.
While that’s true. I doubt Parsons would ever be allowed to return to the field at only 85% through his recovery. He has to be medically cleared and don’t think there’s any concern at all that our staff would jeopardize Micah by playing him at 85% healed. If anything our medical staff tends to be careful on player safety.
