I did not see the scrimmage but was reading MM's post-session transcripts and was not happy to hear PJ went down with a knee.

My GUESS is we are going to be seeing another RB brought in here fairly soon with Morency out until possibly the start of the season.

Two RB's down with knees and we haven't played a game yet. That is not good.

I hope it is not serious. PJ was a favorite of mine, coming from Bowling Green, he was my sleeper back going into training camp this year. Not as a starter but as the 3rd down back. He has exceptional hands out oc the backfield and is a top notch blocker, he could have filled a need on 3rd downs.
KFFL is also sayin Miree was injured(stinger), that also is not good news. Again hopefully none of these are too serius but with these guys being so young any missed time is a setback.

MM was vague as it was right after the scrimmage and he just said it was knee. Hopefully we will hear soon and it won't be four weeks or something.

Like I say I didn't see it and don't know if he was on the sidelines(good sign) or wasn't(bad sign) after it happened.

We need some RB's out there. Hawk is going to get bored running over Jackson every day in practice.

Losing PJ Pope wouldnt be the end of the world, but it would definitely mean we would pick up another RB (imo).

PJ Pope? Who cares. He's probably the 6th best RB we have; right after Bubba Franks.

Yared-Yam,

Who cares?

Well, I would guess the Packers would care as they made the investment and believed he had talent because he is in camp.

I would also guess all of the players and friends from Bowling Green who are following and cheering for him to make the team would care.

Oh, I think his family back in Wyoming, Ohio would care. So would all of his team mates from his high school. They would be hoping for the dream of having P.J. be a Packer even in a supporting roll.

I think P.J. would care. Being 5'9" and having a dream of playing in the N.F.L. working so hard to get there and having the opportunity... Well I think he would care.

You are a poster, making a comment about someone who you have know personal knowledge about. He has a family, he has dreams, heart, and the talent to make camp in the N.F.L. He is so close to being one of 1,800 players this year to make an N.F.L. Roster. That close to a dream of a life time.... But Who cares? Silly Question. Silly Post.

No... But Yared-Yam say"s "Who Cares."

I would not even comment on this Yared... But you have a history of making really silly and sad posts.

There are some great posters on this site. You should read for a while and stop typing. You will be a better person for it 10 years from now.

Yared Yam means he isn't that amazing. There are definetly better players out there.

I'm leaning more toward Yared's opinion here...

How do you gauge a reaction after Morency goes down, which actually sucks, to losing a practice squad body

I guess now that Gado is off and gone we can no longer expect a young RB to come out of no where and show he can play.

PJ was on the Bears practice squad at a time they probably had more depth at RB than about anybody in the NFL. If he didn't show promise he sure as hell would not have been there.

I highly doubt he is practice squad bound after having been around since last year. He's either going to make it or he won't be hanging around. There's little sense in taking up spots with players for years on end.

With Green gone and no big name back there he's either in or out right now because there will be no better time to make this team at RB.

The point of the post was if this injury turns out to be anything I expect a RB to be brought in with Mo out too. I would think the situation has gone from "happy" with the RB's to some concern.

I did see a replay of the scrimmage last night and want to say I don't think Noah get's enough credit. He's a tough and talented kid whose consistant and makes few mistakes.

He's certainly more productive than a 3rd down specialist afterthought who would be lucky to make the squad. He's a pretty darn good football player.

I've been concerned with running backs for quite some time

You're right about Noah Herron, like Tony Fisher was he can do just about anything well despite not being a standout player

I'm sorry that I don't get it.

A real shame that I want better players than some no-name like PJ Pope on our team.

That is one way of looking at it Yared. It is your way at looking at it.

"I want better players than some no-name like PJ Pope on our team."

Give the kid a chance. Do not relish in the fact he got hurt.

Basically what you are saying is what you originally wrote about P.J. getting injured. "So What. and I want better players than some no-name like PJ Pope on our team.

I think Ohio Pack Fan and I are on the same page here.

For your information.... There is a reason NFL teams give people a chance, and it is about finding a diamond in the rough.

PJ was un-drafted, a last cut from the Bears, and picked up by the Packers.

Oh... There were a few other un-drafted players in the N.F.L. who got a shot, and had silly people saying "I want better players than some no-name."

Who are they? Let's see....

Wayne Chrebet- Not bad! Good thing his GM did not want a "No Name"

Priest Holmes- There is an un-drafted player you may "So What About"

Dominic Rhodes- Yep! He was a big "So What." in camp.

How about Kicker Adam Vinatieri He was an un-drafted Nobody! if he was injured in camp, We want better players than Adam Vinatieri on our team? Yep! "SO WHAT!"

I could go on and on and on, and so could Ohio Pack Fan.

There is no "SO WHAT" when you lose a player on your camp roster.

No So What's at all.

Yared is an ager-filled guy. Anger filled guys don't talk sense most of the time. He is also president of the "I want to have Ingle Martin's children" fanclub, and being that he is a dude, that shows he's got a few screws loose. Best to take Yared's posts knowing that he is intending more to be funny than actually make sense. :)

Being serious, I don't think we'll sign another RB at this moment. In my opinion, Wynn is at the point were he's recovered from the stomach virus and had a chance to get his legs under him, so he'll be getting the majority of Pope's reps.

You never want to see a guy injured, but I think there is some good in this. At the very least, we'll know what (if anything) Wynn can provide us. I think he can be our RB/FB Hybrid that we desperately need, seeing as Miree has some trouble staying healthy.

If Pope turns out to be half as good as Priest Holmes I will eat my words.

or did you...

There are indeed two ways you can look at this thing.

(1) PJ looks like a practice-squad-guy, so this doesn't hurt us.

(2) But Yared, I'd rather be pc and write something like:
"I don't think this will hurt our running-game in 2007." because
writing the words "Who cares?" sounds like some bone-headed hillbilly
who cares about nothing else than "eat, drink, sleep" and probably
"f***" (referring to the previous postings :rotflmao: )

In fact you seem to support some 3rd-string QB who also might
be cut and replaced. Therefore you should also feel for some other
players who might be dark horses.

We are hitting on the topic of how and why certain players come out of no where and become very good players. Wouldn't it be great if all that was to it was looking at a guys college stats and taking it from there. There would be a lot of scouts without a job if that were the case.

Many players get "stuck" in college where the picture changed and those changes were not in a players favor. Coaches change. Schemes change. Players go to schools originally thinking that that school has a philosophy that fits what they do well and then **** it changes.

My point is no one here really knows jack crap about PJ Pope or what his real potential is. All I know is the Bears were LOADED at RB and yet they kept this guy on the practice squad. They certainly would not have done this if they didn't see something about him to merit it. It's not like he's a special teams monster.

He's supposed to be a "tough" runner and we are not exactly stacked with that type of RB with Mo, BJack, or, Herron.
