I'd rather have a 4th and a 6th rounder. Set aside Kraft and maybe Sean Rhyan, 3rd round picks have been a disaster in Green Bay! :whistling: :coffee:
Yep, Khyri Thronton, Sternberger, Amari Rogers, Kenny Peterson, Deguara and a host of others were just massive busts in the 3rd round going back a long time.

Anyone have any thoughts on "Workout" bonuses? I am guess I am wondering that if without them, players just would skip workouts? Even with them, some players have decided that the bonus isn't enough to motivate them to attend voluntary workouts.

While these numbers will be added to, so far this is one of the lowest dead money amounts, when you compare it to total salary cap, that I can remember.

His injury and that base salary hit I think makes him immovable to a team. It isn't like the Gary deal where Dallas is getting him cheap for the level of guy he is.

It'd be insane to turn Jenkins into a draft pick and Gute needs a nod from everyone (even his haters) if he manages that.
Can’t a new team just rework his deal in the $10mil—15Mil annual if he’s agreeable?
Such as a a 3yr X $39Mil type offer?

I would think there’s a team that would trade a future 200 overall for a 235 to get the first right to his services (btw that’s not adding a draft pick) While he might not be the hottest commodity out there? He’s still a player who can play anywhere in the OL and he’s still a player under contract. After all you yourself just hinted at GB tearing up his old contract and signing him to a new deal. If GB is thinking that there’s a couple teams that might be thinking Jenkins at Center or whatever.

The NFL announced 2026 Compensatory picks today. The Packers will be receiving a 7th round pick, Pick #255, which is the 3rd to last pick in the draft.

With the moves today of Gary and Jenkins, Jordan Love is now the longest tenured Packer on the roster.

That's too bad but understandable. He was a very nice guard. I hope we address the OL in FA and the upcoming draft.

Aren’t there a bunch of holes on the team? I haven’t seen this in awhile. The team will look a lot different than last year.

Not really...actually Gute is doing about what he does every single year and shoring up holes in FA using variety of means (ERFA/RFAs, resigning own, UFAs and Trades) to not be backed into a corner in the draft having to look to a position and not more best prospect.

Edge and Corner are the only arguable "holes" and I say just Edge...here is why - THESE ARE NOT AN ADVOCATE FOR THE FACT THE HOLES ARE FILLED WITH ALL PRO OR ELITE GUYS, but holes plugged are not holes:

QB - Yes we lost Malik, but Ridder was always about backfilling that depth behind Love with a guy with experience. Don't be shocked if we even sign another veteran to compete with him and likely a UDFA...but Ridder plugs that hole.

RB - No hole, but if you want to think Wilson was special enough to be considered a hole, than Brooks and Lloyd are your plug...plus Pierre Strong and Damien Martinez.

WR - Doubs is likely on his way out...but drafting Golden and Savion last year was always more about this year than last IMO. Bo Melton also could always be tendered.

TE - Whyle plugged the hole and we have him and Musgrave still here....Fitz could always be signed back and techinically there are two guys on PS here.

S - no need to discuss IMO

OL - Jordan Morgan won the LT position but organization felt best 5 over best LT....he is the plug for losing Walker, Kinnard is the plug for losing him and Tom at RT potentially....Rhyan plugs the hole left by Jenkins at center just as he did last year. Kinnard and Jennings or Williams likely first Tackle and Guard up if the season started tomorrow IMO....depth needed but I bet GB feels starters are here.

DL - Lost Wooden but Nazir and Brinson are both here and likely more incoming. Jordan Riley is IR but has experience and still might push for a bottom of roster spot.

Edge - Sorrell showed promise, Cox showed growth and the team always like Oliver....well all three will see expanded roles regardless of what happens forward, Gary and Enagbare gone now they are the dudes behind LVN until Parsons is back. This is a position without a proven starter that will be in a spot of one...we started tomorrow it is likely Sorrell there...but be awesome if Sorrell and Cox could be that 3/4 tandem reserves for one more year.

CB - We got everyone we had last year....arguably if Hobbs is healthy and fired up to not be said to be a bust we are better. Carrington, Nixon and him are back. Hadden is still here....BUT again like Edge be nice to force all of these guys to fight for outside CB2 and not 1.

No gaping holes...but the biggest one and truly a void is edge IMO.

Yes there are. And I don't really want to give up draft capital in 2027 in order to fill them. I'm thinking that we are better off carrying the cash and keeping the draft picks. Certainly not a win now approach but could be best long term. And we will still be in the mix this year. Maybe Gute has something else up his sleeve but I don't know how he can have his cake and eat it too. And the bears are loading up. Which to me means we have to do what is best longer term.

What is a hole on a team? That's always a pertinent question. Those, I think, are players targeted by the opposing team's coordinators. They are well below average NFL starters.

Last season Ryhan was a hole at center. He was fine in the running game but struggled mightily in the passing game. That doesn't automatically mean he'll remain that way in 2026. Give him more experience and he could take a leap forward.

Another hole last year was IDL against the running game.

Just because you swap out players, doesn't mean any hole on a team is filled. The new player could be even worse if he's unproven. The only proof that a hole is filled is by grading the new guy or seeing if the previous player improves.
