Most of us saw this coming. I bet it is a conditional 2027 pick since no 2026 return is rumored part of it.

If I were to guess I'd call it a 5th round with the ability to escalate up to a 3rd rounder.

Yeah for sure. My source said he thinks it is either a clean 5th or a 6th conditional. We will see

I just saw a 2027 3rd, but it's probably too early to be 100% on that.

EDIT: and alread corrected to a "3rd Day Pick". Good lord. Apparently a 4th.

Let Gary be a constant reminder to Gute and the Packers on those 2nd contracts getting too big, with too much guaranteed money. Unfortunately, that is just the way of the NFL. Overpay, print more money, repeat.

Packers flushing another $17M down the drain.

I like the move. Lukas is primed and opposite Micah he’s going to be fine. I get he logs more than 0 Sacks in the next 10 games. Thats how Gary finished.

Freeing up $11Mil and Getting a 4th in 2027 is pretty valuable imo. Especially in a draft we don’t have a Day 1 selection. We’re looking to be loading up on 2027 with 3rd and 4th rounders. I have no issue with that.

I’ll love the move if we can solidify that Edge position with maybe a FA + a RD2-4 area selection.

And its where Gute has made most of his hay LOL

In all seriousness, those middle rounds are where you build a roster. If things fall the right way for us, we could be looking at:

One 2nd rounder
Two 3rd's
Three 4th's
Two/Three 5th's
One/Two 6ths
One/Two 7ths

*Obviously it depends what all transpires in FA, but I like the looks of this.

Look at it not as having to eat $17M this year BUT saved $31M against next years cap ;)

Now that Gary is gone, the biggest question is whether the Packers cut Jenkins for additional cap space or somehow restructure him ro keep on the team.

Without Jenkins, the Packers would be seriously thin at O line depth. So thin, that the season would be quickly scuttled by any injuries which we all know always hits the Packers.

Our offensive starting line is in tact that we spent week 11 through the playoffs with (this isn't a defense of good or bad) outside of our LT, so seriously thin is not true but unproven for sure with LT being a new guy as of right now likely.

As of right now I'd assume our line is penciled in as Morgan | Banks | Rhyan | Belton | Tom

I'm not saying they're world beaters but if Morgan can just be decent he will hold serve to the caliber Walker delivered performance wise in 2025 (not great at all)...and the rest are returning starters for this team last year ending.

I really like the Belton / Tom right side. Rhyan can hold serve, the left side will need to be proven. Banks is rumored to have played injured and I'd hope could play at minimum slightly better and Morgan won the LT job last year only to have them try him at guard as they assumed that would be our best line up....

Darian Kinnard will for sure likely be back as he is a RFA

We also have guys for depth in Donovan Jennings, Dalton Cooper, Travis Glover, John Williams, Brant Banks....from those guys odds would say one will rise to be serviceable back up.

That to me still points to us having a strong likelihood of drafting a guy in our first four picks and likely an additional in the rest as well.

Yes and No. The $17M is without Gary playing for the Packers this year or next, the $31M is with him playing for the Packers.

I look at the $17M as a sunk cost on a bad decision. Too many of those for Gute and the Packers lately.

Noticed that the Raiders resigned Eric Stokes, 3 year $30M deal.

Time for the Packers to go out and sign Tua for a Vet. min contract. The Dolphins will be accounting for his $99M dead cap over the next 2 years. Meanwhile, Tua can chill in GB, count his bank and be under no pressure behind Jordan.

Ian Rapoport reporting that Free agent WR Alec Pierce has agreed to terms to remain in Indianapolis on a historic 4 year $114M deal that will make him the highest paid free agent receiver in NFL History. $60m fully guaranteed at signing, and a max package of $116M.

Crazy money for a WR. Sadly, Christian Watson and his agent can't stop smiling.

That's two Edge rushers gone... with Parson's on the mend the room suddenly got thin.

Wonder if they have their eye on someone?

Trey Hendrickson ;)

Not saying they are signing him, but they have their eye on him. :D
LOL wouldn't be something?!

I also agree with you that paying $10 mil for a rotational guy at best is not a great idea. There are better places for cap money.

The Jets have truck loads of money to spend, they and the Browns will just keep doing what they are good at, flinging money out of the backs of those trucks, in hopes the fans don't notice just how bad they are.

I think the goal/Mode of operation, of many NFL organizations, is to excite their fan base, before every season. Collect a ton of money and then make excuses at the end of bad seasons when nothing worked out. The fans are happy for 6 months, while the owners and players build their bank accounts.
