Opinions are like A-holes, we all have one.
Good to read that Oliver is active now, but 13 D-lineman on the 53?

I don't know about 13 but it is a place where the past has shown us that we can't afford to have them get worn outGood to read that Oliver is active now, but 13 D-lineman on the 53?

I agree. I think his probability is pretty good after being held out last week. That seems to be more normal protocol anyway.Neither will a #5 or #6 TE from your practice squad. Hopefully Whyle clears concussion protocol this week, so we don't have to worry about it.
I thought he was playing for someone recently? Did he get dropped? With the loss of Fitzpatrick last night, coupled with the concussion to Whyle, and of course Kraft's injury... I think at least calling Marcedes Lewis needs to happen. All he would really need to do is come in and block. Plus, he already knows MLF's system, so it should be a fairly easy transition to come in and play right away.
They have to make a move soon. Even if Wyle can go this week. Having only 2 TEs available is scary even if only for a few games. It also affects STs. A lot will be determined by the result of the Lion-Viking game as to what we do for the last 2 games.I thought he was playing for someone recently? Did he get dropped?
I'm assuming Fitz is out for the season? I'll go look and see if the injury report is out on him yet. Ugh
I think it's an opportunity to put some 4 wr sets out there and see if spreading the field opens up the run for us. I’m stoked about Oliver! I have a feeling he’s been ready for awhile but our LB room was full. His easiest pathway is currently Teams, now that Kristian Welch turned his ankle at Chicago. Oliver bided his time and it’s about to payoff. Btw I’m not sure if anyone remembers but Collin Oliver just happens to be a nightmare for Caleb Williams. Oliver single handed (literally finger tipped!) the end for Caleb Williams Bedlam Rivalry. The pair met as 10-1 and both ranked in the Top10 ranked. Oliver’s pair of Caleb Sacks distinguished him as the “closer”.Good to read that Oliver is active now, but 13 D-lineman on the 53?

I don't know about Savion yet but I like the 4 wide receivers set ideaI think it's an opportunity to put some 4 wr sets out there and see if spreading the field opens up the run for us. Would be a great dynamic to practice entering playoff time...
Savion Williams is back. I'm quietly very optimistic about him. 6'3" 222, and the way that guy runs, it's hard to tell he is such a big and powerful person. Quick , agile, and honestly looks faster than his 4.48 40... I think he has that extra gear on the top end, that Jordy nelson used to have.

I still feel that Oliver was passed over largely due to his missing the bulk of his Senior season, mixed with concerns about his Size/Length. He started his College career at OK State and Wins “Big 12 Freshman of the Year”. Starts the year on watchlist for the Bronco Nagurski trophy (won by Will Anderson Jr). Oliver ranked top 1-5 in OK State history in Sacks (23.5) TFL (Elite 40.5) and Pressures and he did that in 3 seasons and 2 games his Senior year before season ending injury. in 2 starts in 2024 Oliver was on an absolute terror before injury. 1 Sack, 2 TFL, 7 QB hurries and 10 Pressures. Imo had he continued at that pace? He’s an easy Top 100 selection. His key weakness is his size at 6’2” with shorter arms 30.75” and thus he’s considered too small at his natural position of DE. At LB he’s got some some needed refining to do, but in Pass Rush he’s a disaster for opposing teams and particularly when he can be used by an effective DC.
In several ways, Colin ironically reminds me of a poor man’s Micah.
9/7/24When was the last time Oliver played a snap on a football field that counted?
Exactly. First of all, just because I’m excited doesn’t imply I think he’s our primary starter. I’m excited because his injury likely cost him a full round in the draft. Then it was a thick class at DL and that convoluted anyone choosing a recently injured player. Those are where you can get a bargain, but you have to wait a minute. It’s my opinion that we overlapped a little at DL mid draft. Yet it’s hard not to when you see players slipping rounds off your internal board. When was the last time Oliver played a snap on a football field that counted?
I just watched a hype video of him, and they were calling him "mini-parsons". Lol. I think if even a packer homer says something that wild. There must be some sort of inside knowledge or reasoning to be the seed to grow into that ballsy comment. Lol.Exactly. Here we are.. That minute I mentioned has passed and it’s not like injury players ask to be injured. So yes, I’m excited for him for many reasons including this is a players dream. I can’t imagine how hard it is to get drafted and not play. I seriously think he could be a LB version of Evan Williams (we’re talking impact player). There’s a reason Rhe Cowboys (OK St) picked him to be a team D Captain.
He was one of their better players on a team that competed at a pretty high level. Cowboys were 31-12 with him on the field across 3+ years.

We could use a mini-parsons. Kind of a Christmas miracle.
Honestly. We handled the bears up front... They were fighting like their life depended on it. We were coming off the loss of Parsons hangover. And we still handled them.... And I think the way they purposely body slammed and full body weight drove our two QBs into the ground full speed, onto their shoulders .... Honestly ... I'd hate to be the bears next game.... Gloves are off home boys. It's blood and guts time.
Well said! The "mini-parsons" stuff is not from a level of play but a reference to style of play. I know quite a few scouts that when discussing him in the draft cycle did reference a Parsons or I also heard things like "attacks plays at times like Troy Polomalu did'. It's the motor he runs with which is where the "mini-Parsons" stuff comes from. I think anyone expecting a rookie, after months of being physically unable to perform/play and then limited and now released to out the gate contribute needs to live in a vastly more realistic world. Could he deliver a play - absolutely, he is physicially gifted, has made massive plays in college against NFL draft worthy players....BUT...still just pump the brakes folks.
But for those unfamiliar with him here is some stuff to know...
9.74 RAS score (but lacked all testing) (Parson's 9.78 - some claim 9.62)
They are essentially same height and out of college Oliver is/was just 6 pounds lighter.
Oliver out of college repped more on bench and while his long speed is slower than Parsons INSANE, his 10 yard split is sub 1.6 which is awesome.
Oliver's tackle for losses over his time at OSU is the most jaw dropping statline you'll look up on him especially when you look at it on a per snap or play basis. Sack artist....had he not been injured in the 2024 season - many felt he was going to set himself up for a top 64 pick and I remember a few scouts I respect still banging his drum for a second round pick.
With a need to heal let him try in the next 2 weeks.I hope we get to see what Oliver can do, next season. From what I can remember about him, the biggest knock on him was his missed tackles and being undersized for an EDGE rusher. Hopefully, he has had some time with Packer coaches to clean up his tackling skills. I also hope that he has been putting on some muscle. He may be a "mini-Micah" but his upper body strength is lacking and he will be facing much better blockers in the NFL than he saw at the college level.
If I had to predict what we will see in Oliver's first few appearance, it will be a guy running around with his hair on fire. He may get pressure on a QB, but he is more than likely going to run himself out of position and offenses will take advantage of just that.
I think that we currently have better players ahead of Oliver and if he suits up, it will be for special teams. If we see him this season on defense, that might mean an injury or 2 occurred ahead of him.
Yes I remember Jonathan. 7th Rounder that kinda floated mostly on our Practice Squad. Got poached by Chicago and ended up getting some playing time (sparingly).Well we re-signed DT Johnathan Ford... at least he knows the system, and we needed another body.
Back? Did he get hurt again?Hoping we get Brinson Back also. I see Warren B. as a smidge better DL with a dash of Pass Rush mixed in and better pursuit speed for a big man.
I’m not sure I thought it might be an illness because I thought I read he was a late inactive last week.Back? Did he get hurt again?
I’m not sure I thought it might be an illness because I thought I read he was a late inactive last week.
That’s why I was saying. We had Brinson out, Riley was injured during the game, Wyatt is obviously out. I thought I saw Stackhouse had an illness.
It’s almost like there’s the Flu running the ranks was my guess.
So send Stackhouse out there. We have enough injured players that do not get scratched. Let a healthy scratch go out and take his lumps.Brinson played in the Ravens game, quite a bit actually. 34 snaps on defense and 7 on special teams. That was his highest total for the year, on both squads. So I hate to say it, he isn't our savior, at least not this season.
Stackhouse hasn't played since the Thanksgiving game. I believe he has been a healthy scratch since, in favor of playing Riley. Maybe that changes, but like Brinson, for now, he's just another body.

GB intends to sit Nixon & Jacobs.
