And it is an answer to the losers that whine that you can't do stuff in GB that you can do in larger NFL cities.

Add 80k people going to watch the players basically practice and I doubt there is any other city in the league that could pull that off.

Playing for the Packers is a players dream IMO and unlike any other venue in the NFL. The slower pace can be used as a positive to allow players to focus more on there passion which should be football. I couldn't even imagine trying to be a player in a place like Las Vegas with all the distractions and traps. I don't think that whole thing is gonna work out to well.

It will work out just fine.

As a born and raised WI native and a resident of Las Vegas for the past 26 years I can speak from personal experience. Other than to go to work, catch an occasional show, or dine at a world-class restaurant, residents rarely spend any time on the Strip or visit downtown unless we give visitors the obligatory tours. Otherwise, there's no need to go to those places. They're not even mildly tempting except for maybe very new residents and that gets old in a big hurry, anyway. The cliche distractions are reserved exclusively for the tourist-types and you can have that all to yourselves.

Living here and visiting here are two entirely different experiences that are worlds apart for most residents. There is so much to do here that's of an outdoorsy nature that there is little time nor little desire to spend any time whatsoever at the casinos. We have an excellent lifestyle and the climate is pleasingly pleasant nearly all year-round. Even the Summers are tolerable, especially if one has their own pool in the backyard or there is a community pool nearby, or both. Lake Mead has more shoreline than California and the fishing and boating are spectacular. One can snow ski at Lee Canyon on Mt. Charleston (a real mountain), less-than an hour from the Strip or Downtown. Or, water ski on Lake Mead which is also less-than an hour from the Strip or Downtown. On the same day. Golf is an everyday possibility.

Celebrity residents abound and encounters are commonplace. MEH level. And star football player can enjoy a healthy measure of anonymity if they prefer the more private lifestyle. I know from personal experience that the total Las Vegas environment is actually going to be very desirable for players and their families on several important fronts. I could go on and on. 43 million visitors come to Las Vegas every year and practically none of them have a clue about the terrific lifestyle that the vast majority of us residents are able to enjoy thanks to them. Frankly, we like it that way or more of you would be moving out here in droves and we've gotten to be too large as it is.

Thank you Mr Chamber of Commerce ;) A good write up on living in Las Vegas.

My only thought on Football Players living in (around) Vegas, they too will pretty much be "visitors" more than I would consider them residents. But just like any other Big City, it will be up to them to navigate around the distractions.

it might work out just fine, but it's still kind of funny, ironic, hypocritical, whatever you want to call it. Vegas would not exist without gambling. Visitors or "residents" alike would cease to exist in the desert if it weren't for the gambling. putting a major sports team in center of gambling seems odd if nothing else, considering the stance on betting and gambling by major league sports. It may be a fine city to put a sports team, but the league is directly benefitting from an activity they publicly frown upon.

Myself, I don't like the closeness of real competition and gambling. I'm not a gambler. If that's what entertains you, that's fine by me, but it doesn't entertain me. I wish it had nothing to do with sports because there are enough things that are clawing away at the true competitiveness that makes this game entertaining for me. I don't like the proximity to yet another that may turn me off from the game i grew up playing.

Personally, I think Lance Kendricks will be more help to the packers than Bennett. I have always been a fan of him, I just think he got sucked into one of the worse offenses in football.

While I expect Kendricks to put up decent numbers I definitely believe Bennett will have a larger impact this season.

I'm willing to bet there is more done in Nevada to combat cheating in sports than all the other 49 states combined. Having major sports here in Vegas is a great idea and will do extremely well.

As for athletes here, I used to know a few NFL players and they would spend plenty of times at clubs. Was not uncommon to have a table at two different clubs in one night and attended a 30th birthday party at Tao for someone where the tab was more than I made in a year. Random note about that night, if you get really drunk and call Ronde Barber 'Tiki" all night, he won't be as amused as you will be.

Uh, huh. Just like fantasy football advertised and endorsed by the NFL and featured in TV programs from the likes of ESPN, NFL Network, the Journal-Sentinel, etc.

One doesn't have to gamble to enjoy living in LV, though. Gambling doesn't entertain me, either. But if you do like to play the lottery then we'd have to go to WI to buy a lottery ticket. We don't have a State lottery. There are even a few folks who come LV and never gamble. They're busy doing the other fun stuff I that referred to earlier. Later this month an old buddy of mine and his wife will be here from out of town and we'll be doing the tour at the Carroll Shelby factory. We may again pop-in to see another friend over at Kount's Kustoms.

My favorite team permanently based here is the USAF Thunderbirds whose home is at Nellis AFB. It is adjacent to the huge racing complex on the far NE side of town that hosts NASCAR (multiple events), Indycar, NHRA (twice yearly), sprints, dirt track racing, etc., etc. I've observed the Thunderbirds practice many times. And, due to Red Flag I've been privileged to see virtually every aircraft in the US armed forces inventory and also those of most of our allies.

Some of us locals would have preferred never to have an NFL, NHL (the Golden Knights of the Silver State, no less ) or an NBA team. We don't need them let alone want them. It's inevitable that the NBA will also be playing here in the regular season one day. The MLB has had an AAA team here for decades and a Big League team may be an eventuality, as well. The NFL Raiders (and their fan base) are the very last NFL team I would have wanted to be located here other than the Packers. ;) But, hey, it is what it is.

And WI cheese, beer, and both Usinger's and Johnsonville products are plentiful all over town if you're okay with growing a "Milwaukee goiter." And you'll never believe this but we have libraries, museums, churches, a world-class performing arts center, outdoor plays at Spring Mountain Ranch and the Shakespearean Festival in nearby SW Utah all Summer long, and a whole lot of other cultural venues that are available to us. In slightly over four hours we can also be on the coast surfing or fishing or enjoying all CA has to offer. Or, we can visit any of several National Parks that are within a day or two driving round-trip. Lake Tahoe is pretty nice, too.

But we'll leave the gambling (and myths) to you non-locals. "What Happens Here Stays Here" is actually referring to your money when you gamble, BTW. It's not really about hanky-panky. Sorry to spoil that myth, too. :sneaky:

Did you just eat a big bag of skittles? That is the 3rd one of your posts in a row that I had to rate as optimistic! :coffee:

I´m being really optimistic for this season, you know? Last seasons I was realistic, but this year I really believe in Packers potential, we are going to win Super Bowl LII.

We are in totally opposite places. Last year I was super optimistic, this year people keep calling me pessimistic but I think I'm just being realistic.

It's ok, because the reality is, none of of us have a clue how it's going to go :) Nobody forsaw the offense struggling so much, including Rodgers last year for half a season. ALmost everybody thought our DB's were an absolute strength heading into the season. The year before, nobody saw the offensive struggles after starting 6-0 and having Rodgers talk of being the MJordan of football. and 2 years ago football fans everywhere declared Brady done and over the hill and needing to be traded or retired and after a game last year he's back as the greatest QB in the league again. Football is a funny thing.

If our defense steps if up, I think we'll go a long way... if not it I think it will be a very frustrating year of what could have been!

Gonna be hard to beat 2014 season in that respect, lol. I was actually IN Seattle, visiting family, watching that game surrounded by cousins and uncles and such who were all Hawks fans. After the final Wilson INT, I turned to my wife and said "we're going to the superbowl."

*sniff*
