To win the division? To win in the Playoffs? To win if we get there the Superbowl.

I think that the Packers will have no problem winning the division. And for that matter possibily even be crowned NFC champs, because the NFC is so wide open. I think to get to that point the offense needs to stay healthy, which means that if Brett Favre gets hurt say goodbye to the season........Our defense (with how good our O is) just has to play hardly average. Some teams in history show that you dont need a great D to win a division. If Bates can just get them playing good fundimental ball I see great things for this season............

Ago,

I like your positive vibe, but I don't think you have analyzed the NFC very well. "wide open"? A better description might be "slightly ajar".

A team with a good D will at the very least slow our Offense down and if we don't score 28 points a game the chances are better for a Packer loss than a Packer victory. That said I think we can score 28 points a game.

I think that it is wide open. Because the Eagles are the only dominate team in the NFC North. And with some of the problems they are having it wouldn't surprise me if they did not come out atop the NFC...So therefore I think it is open to anyone. I think it is mostly open for the Cowboys, Packers and unfortunatly the Vikqueens.

11-5 wins our division. We're going to pick up a big tackle and be in the thick of the NFC race.

Traxx is a bit closer - Czabe put it that our Division could probably be had at 10-6.
Of course, he also put the Packers in third place in the NFC-Nort'... so go figure.

Here's the deal --- ALL THE PUNDITS are rolling those crazy little eightballs around on their desks and they have NO idea whatsoever as to what Team will suffer the most injuries... AND THIS IS WHERE lesser Teams may actually prosper whereas Superior (so-called) Teams may suffer greatly.

You guys remember a conversation out there last year about Players OVER-TRAINING?
And that bug usually hits about the third or fourth game?

Well, that's what I'm gonna watch out for..... the injury bug.
Hopefully, it hits everywhere else but the Pack.... But, even Scott and the rest of the F.T.onF. Crew thought Brett's streak would end this year....

Now, I'm a diehard Packer fan / Acolyte, period...
And while I luv Brett to death... that streak has to end sometime... they are correct in their surmising... Yet, I would say that it would be better to have Brett be stepping down, in the process of retiring... as for when the streak ends.

The O-Line will tell the tale as to when Favre's streak finally ends.
Scott Linn felt like it wouldn't happen this year, but most likely next year, pending Brett hangs on again.

But, I agree - 10-6 will take the Nort'

  • Vikings will capitulate to their demons, period
da Bears... will go most likely 6-10 at best, with a Rookie QB at the helm
(ya gotta luv Kyle Orton.. I watched him play many times at Purdue)
The Detroit Lions will be the sleeper hit of the year.. up to a point...
(and that point is when Joey Harrington gets injured - there's NO backup)
As for the Pack.. all they have to do ... is sit on the beach and wait for the rest to self-destruct.
Wallah, we're in!

Tell me I'm wrong.......

Ago, in a previous qoute I think you meant to say that the Eagles were the only good team in the NFC East.

Here are teams that are not on alot of people's radar that scare me:

Carolina - Last year they had 14 guys on IR. The year before they went to the SB with the practically the same team.

Atlanta - Say what you want about Vick, but they do have other O weapons and their D is outstanding. Remember Trent Dilfer has won a Superbowl.

St. Louis - I have watched them during the preseason and they look good, especially with Jackson as their main RB and Faulk as their 3rd down specialist.

These 3 teams scare me. Here are the other tough teams in the NFC (besides the Pack):

Seahawks - have improved their D roster.
Eagles - May take a step back, but still very very good.
Vikings - Their D absolutely stunk last year. Even if their D doesn't gel this year it still should be better than last year. I don't think the loss of Moss will be as big of deal as everyone thinks. Their downfall may be their inefficient run game.

Teams to just pay attention to:

Cowboys - Tough to figure them out. Excellent RB and TE. Definitely a capable QB and a good D.
Giants - Will Eli step up is the question. If he does they could make the playoffs.
Tampa Bay - Always above average D. If the Cadillac plays like a rookie of the year candidate they could be a little dangerous.

Busts (Teams predicted to do well, but won't):

Arizona - Its amazing to call them busts before they have ever really done anything. Warner is old and their O line isn't as good as people think.
Lions - Similar to AZ. No O-line is going to be tough on the below average Harrington. Their secondary has holes.

Honestly I think home field advantage will be achieved with a 12-4 record. A lot of even teams in the NFC. No real dominant team like the Patriots of past years in the AFC.

Honestly, as it stands if all the teams were to stay relatively healthy I think we miss the playoff boat. That said, obviously teams rarely stay healthy. I think 10-6 and 9-7 are realistic for us and a playoff slot is possible whether that is as Division Champ or a Wildcard.

Agreed - the injury bug will come around soon enough - let's hope we're one of those teams where it doesn't hang around very long...

Almost every Division in the NFC will see a top contender at 9-7 or maybe... 10-6.
I see the Eagles blowin some games along the way - they're NOT assured of a definitive 12-4 by any stretch of the imagination - like any other Team, they'll have to earn it.

This year, the AFC will see more balance, as well.

too many holes, too many rookies, too many questions...i'm going between 8-8 and 10-6, i think a wild card spot is a possibility, especially considering eight wins got you there last season

History has taught us not many people take $$$ home betting against Favre. I know I'll be wrong once, but until then I'll keep laying the green backs on his side. Feel free to take the other side anytime you want.

Actually I meant that they were the only dominate team. I know the other teams you mentioned was a threat. I have the Panthers going to the superbowl. my point was that it is open to a lot of teams.
