Obviously the people who don't like the Packers refuse to call it that.

But the moniker persists all the same. And there is no other place in the NFL that lays claim to it.

13 world championships...

Well, it's a self appointed title. And it works only as long as no one else surpasses what they have won. So, if another teams wins more Super Bowls and passes the Packers, do they get to claim it?

Remember that The Packers won 5 out of 7. That's the toughest one to beat or equal. Title Town? It'll be brought up again the next time we win it. Probably this year.

We get it. Vikings fans don't like calling Green Bay "Titletown."

Not really. Ultimately, it just means GB has a lot of titles.

NO other fans do either. It's strictly a Packer fan thing. And some TV announcers. But go with it. Self-promotion is always good.
TV announcers referring to Titletown is not self promotion.

The closest to Green Bay in terms of titles is the Bears with nine.

It seems unlikely they are going to surpass the Pack anytime soon.

Again, only used by their fans and some people in the media. Anyone here call them that? Bueller? Burlier?
Everyone knows that they are called that. Some people started calling the Packers that, and I never liked that idea, because I didn't like the Cowboys. Calling someone "America's Team" creates a backlash of hate, IMO.

I don't believe that I've ever used that term in conversation. It's cute sure ... as is that America's Team thing. Self promotion? Absolutely. It's a "marketing thing" ... like calling the NFL Championship the "Super Bowl". What the hell, no skin off my nose - a highly lucrative marketing thing. Truthfully, what the Super Bowl has become is less about the game and more about the accompanying baloney associated with it. I could not tell you which Super Bowl I've watched the most of in the last 10 years - I can tell you that I haven't watched a good number of ANY.

It's not so much about self-promotion as it is about pride... having some significant accomplishment in which to take pride, to feel as though the team that represents you and that you've chosen to support, has done something that everyone recognizes them for. Something unique... something that every time it is mentioned, every football fan who hears it immediately understands who they're talking about.

Sorta like "41-0", or "0-4", except in a positive way.

Sour grapes are purple, no?

At least no one can call Green Bay "Titleless Town"

Well, mold is green. P*ss is yellow. Bruises are purple.

Minnieapolis has one thing Green Bay will never have. Two NBA championships. So, Minneapolis isn't exactly titleless.

I've been away too long. You guys seem to forget that you can't get to me with the standard Vikings slams. Heard them all before. Many before most people here were born. Now, if someone comes up with a new one, I'll let you.

Milwaukee has two NBA championships. Not a big deal really.

But then this is a football forum, and that's where Minneapolis falls short. To think a little town like Green Bay has so many more championships than your large urban are - That has to sting a bit.

You can always savor some good Wisconsin cheese with your whine I suppose.

Brett Favre as really now like him more over as my dad, who is not a sports fan by any and all means, has Parkinson's like Brett does. It is really horrific. Praying for him and his family.
My dad passed from Parkinson's in 2020... ironically on Brett Favre's Birthday, October 10th. You are absolutely right, the disease is horrific, it was very difficult watching my dad progress through it. I pray for your dad, Brett, and both of your families.
