Not having a go or nothing, but it says everything about the quality of the outfield players (whatever the level) if a goalkeeper wins or is in line to win a top award. Somewhat embarrassing like a kicker winning MVP at the Superbowl.

I think Vinatieri was (should have been) the MVP for New England not once... but twice.

I read a good response to that in the comments. Someone said, that the two positions are hard to equate. They wrote; "We all know it's not realistic to compare a goal keeper to a striker but seeing as how players like Ronaldo get the obvious advantage by scoring a lot of goals, why don't we say that every save a goal keeper makes is the equivalent of a goal. That sounds somewhat logical doesn't it? Considering if the ball wasn't saved, it would be a goal for the other team. You might say some saves are "easy" but aren't many of Ronaldo's tap ins and pens "easy"?"

The goalkeeper has a big responsibility in a game since many of them are decided by one point. There are 10 potential goal scorers every game against one goalkeeper. That should merit some respect for goalkeepers and the titles their teams win.

For me there should be separate awards for keepers, they are an important part of any team but are unlike any other of the outfield players. Who would win? There are a few strong candidates, but Neuer would take it on form over the year I'd say. Ronald would not get my vote his posing is a serious turn off in spite of his ability.

Hope Schalke and Chelsea win today. Would be great to see all 4 Bundesliga teams in the final 16, and only 3 EPL teams.

This is really the "B" team or almost "C" against Moscow. Yet they are surprisingly looking good. I really like that young Gaudino kid.

Did not think CFC would be bothered against Sporting, not that I care much but looking ok for Robbies team so far.

1-0 Schalke
Btw, decent game by Schurrle against Sporting so far, well deserved goal for him. Rough times at Chelsea for him at the moment, he is warming the bench most of the EPL games.

He's a smart lad Schurrle, any other world cup winner would have thrown the toys out of the bath by now. Not him though great attitude, he should be more of a starter.

He can always come to Munich. I like Schurrle! Today's game was valuable experience and playing time for Gaudino, Weiser, Hojbjerg, and Rode. The more they play in competitive matches, the more you see them starting to make better connections with their passes. 82 percent for Gaudino.

PSG vs Chelsea seems like an inviting match.

Man City vs Barca will only be good if Aguero is back by then.
