I’m not questioning your numbers, because, you’re right…. I have not researched it. I actually took some of that opinion from Brian Bulaga and Mark Tauscher after listening to their podcast where they specifically claimed that the Packers use fewer starters on special teams than a lot of other teams….
Historical absolutely recently there was a significant change in that approach it seems by the numbers

Did you check ST snapcounts of our main starters? I think some might be shocked especially in recent years how many snaps some of our starters are actually playing...

Xavier McKinney the last two years played more ST snaps than he did his entire career at NYG...honestly in 2024 he almost did that just that year!
Evan Williams is on coverage teams like X
Bullard same
Cooper on about 25%
Quay averages around 17%
Rasheed Walker same
McDuffie in a year where he again saw over 500 normal defensive snaps was on over 300 ST

Kraft (relative to injury), Nixon and LVN was really the only starter that saw his ST usage drop significantly
And with our injuries the team scrambled to get players there. With that said, at least our coverage units were better under Rick. And our punter is a good one.
But after an horrific 2021, losing against KC and Frisco because of ST we expected much better. But place kicking was costly. Returns were nonexistent. After Amari Rodgers, just catching the ball was an accomplishment. Of course, we hoped for a fair catch or a touchback just so the yellow flag was not thrown.
The embarrassment of having a blocked FG and a blocked punt against the lowly Jets at home in 2022 was too much.
Having the game winner blocked in Cleveland and an unheard of blocked PAT in Dallas which cost us a win, it makes you think that all the Parsons in the world could not save this team.
Just give us one decent ST season!

McManus might’ve just had that Crosby “off year”. His career suggests that. His Quad injury didn’t help him. Just my take but I’m 75% sure McManus bounces back some in 2026. Like Top 8-12 area accuracy.
I like our punter also, I'm with you there.

As for McManus, I'm not so sure. I was looking at his stats, last year he made 80% of his field goals, and his career average is 82%, so last year's performance doesn't seem far off from the norm for him. You're probably right about his quad bothering him though.

I think you're misinterpreting statements, I have not seen anyone state that this shouldn't have happened or expressed sadness from a performance stance only from the character or respect aspect he apparently had of many...or merley pointing out failur of teams likely is not solely his fault.
I just thought that considering all that has been said before, people might be celebrating a little more.

If the Packers forced him out, why would they do it one and a half weeks after the Super Bowl. Seems really late with all the other teams' coaching staffs pretty much finalized.
Good point. This was my initial reaction. I now believe the Packers wanted him to return.

The problem is this franchise doesn't seem to value ST very much. We haven't been good in this area, especially on coverages, for eons. Our punter is fine and kicker may have never been 100% all season. But the screwups by others on this unit have been legendary and not in a good way. It was a minor miracle if there wasn't a holding call on every punt/kickoff. Bisaccia had success elsewhere as a ST coordinator so I'm not holding out hope anybody else Matt hires will get this unit to improve. :(

It's funny how different teams have different identities. Like the Bears have a team identity as having good defense and good rushing game. The Packers have a team identity of great quarterback play. Of course, that doesn't mean it's always the case, but the identities persist. Unfortunately, the Packers have also formed an identity of weak defenses, bad special teams play, and more recently, blowing leads.

If the problem is more with the Packers than with Bisaccia, then maybe the new ST coordinator will not be content to keep his mouth shut and take what he's given. Maybe if he doesn't think GB puts in enough investment, he will say so.

From what I heard through Adam Schefter Rich had contemplated stepping down after the 2024 season and verbalized that. So with the way this season ended on shaky ST and then on a ST bad note again in the Playoffs? It sounds like truly was just Rich doing what he perceived was right for our team. If that’s the case that’s highly commendable. It’s in line with his good character I’m not shocked by this.
