You pull the franchise QB off most teams and put in a replacement level guy and their performance as a team goes way down. I know there is the exception of New England, but that's rare. That doesn't mean the Packers don't have plenty of work to do, but I've seen the above post in some form time and again and it's just obvious and overblown to me.

I'm just done being in denial.

Plenty of work to do? I think thats an understatement considering they ranked 32nd in pass D along with the current issues at OLB.

If TT continues his trends it will get worse too.

Done being in denial?

If you think I'm in denial to say that this was an NFCCG team that has plenty of work to do to get over the hump and win another championship, then I would suggest that it isn't me who is struggling to be realistic.

If you want everyone to flip out and talk about Thompson having his head shoved places because he's the worst GM ever or whatever... don't hold your breath.

I would be happy if Thomspon wasnt the GM anymore and think the team would be better off with someone else. Its time. Yes, thats how I feel. I Never said he was the worst GM ever but his drafting hasnt been up to snuff and his inability to take adavantage of free agency has been an Achilles heal to this team. Too sit around and think TT is gonna somehow gonna re-invent himself into some free agency guru all the sudden is to be in denial.

And they have failed to get "over the hump" for 6 years now with maybe the best QB of all time.

Those are the facts.

The problem being that I think the Packers would be a losing team with every other quarterback in the league aside of Rodgers, even with the ones some experts consider to be elite.

That's a bold, but very intriguing statement. Never looked at it that way.

If they had a different QB all those years the entire roster would look different because they would have been drafting in different positions than they did.

Yeah, I don't buy that. Certainly, they would need to replace Rodgers with someone pretty darn good to maintain .500 or better, but this roster is not so bad that you absolutely must have the best guy in the league or it all falls apart.

While that's true there aren't any guarantees the rest of the roster aside of the quarterback position would be any better.

The Packers were close to falling apart over a span of 22 games in which Rodgers didn't play up to his standards going 9-13 during parts of the last two seasons.

Ok, so based on this take explain to me how I'm in denial when I say the team needs to do plenty to get over the hump? I've said multiple times on this forum in the last month that if TT won't integrate FA into his approaches now as Rodgers' career enters the back 9, they need to move on from him. But it's still true that this team is a contender (again, NFCCG) and more than a 2-14 roster with an elite QB. It just seems to me that the merest suggestion that the Packers don't SUCK and that TT doesn't SUCK draws the ire of some posters.

Right, but there are plenty of QB's in this league that are a lot better than that "slump" version of Rodgers, while still not being as good as he is most of the time when he's on his game.

Rodgers had a passer rating of 96.0 at the time the Packers were 4-6 this season. I'm not convinced there are plenty of quarterbacks being capable of playing a lot better than that consistently.

I guess thats it. A contender to who?

Aaron Rodgers is the type of player that will somehow get this team to the playoffs. Thats just how good he is. Do I really believe they win the Super Bowl with TT? I hope so obviously cause im a Packer fan but i'll believe it when i see it. Thats where it has gotten with me.

I'm just at the point where this regime has lost to many big games. I think they need to start fresh.

I have enjoyed many of your posts

His endurance is what you see has declined IMO but also speed off the edge as you said.

Yea...He's 37. But at his decline he's still better than guys 10 years younger. Make him a 3rd down pass rusher. Sack specialist. 1.5 million. Keep the guy.

I would definitely be in favor of peppers coming back, but the money would have to reflect the player he'd be, not the career he's had. Situational rotation guy that can be used on the line or standing up, he still has value.

I'd be surprised if he re-signed for 1.5M
