Meh... I don't really care about the 40 when it comes to TE's.

Depends how they play imo.

In-line...eh. Slot, or move, I care a bit.

Goedert had a very good 3-cone and vert, so he's probably fine.

The Packers should definitely draft one dlinemen to add to the group of 5 locks they have on the roster in Clark, Daniels, Wilkerson, Lowry, and Adams. My favorite was bj hill from NC State to me he seems a lot like Kenny Clark. My new favorite is pj hall I kept seeing his name on fanspeak but didn't know who he was. Running a 4.75 at almost 310 pounds is insane coupled with that low center of gravity and explosiveness, wow. This dude is definitely going to be able to rush the passer from the interior.

Speaking of Dallas Goedert, I just looked at his pro day results. I was sad there wasn't a 40 time, but Holy Crap!

Dallas Goedert:

Height: 6'4.5"
Weight: 256lbs
Arms: 34"
Hands: 10"
Vertical: 35"
Broad Jump: 10'1"
3-cone: 6.87 seconds
Bench: 24 reps

To put this into prospective, here's Gronk and Kelce.

Gronk:

Height: 6'6"
Weight: 264lbs
Arms: 34 1/4"
Hands: 10 3/4"
Vertical: 33 1/2"
Broad Jump: 9'11"
3-cone: 7.18 seconds
Bench: 24 reps

Kelce:

Height: 6'5"
Weight: 255lbs
Arms: 33 3/4"
Hands: 9 5/8"
Vertical: 35"
Broad Jump: 10'4"
3-cone: 7.09 seconds

And for kicks, here's Zach Ertz:

Height: 6'5"
Weight: 249lbs
Arms: 31 3/4"
Hands: 9 3/4"
Vertical: 30.5"
Broad Jump: 9'3"
3-cone: 7.08 seconds
Bench: 24 reps

So looking at the numbers, Dallas has a better 3-cone time that any of the tight ends listed, by a lot! His vertical is better than Gronk and equal to Kelce, and blows Ertz away. He doesn't have T-Rex arms like Ertz and his broad jump is almost as explosive as Kelce. I'd really love to see the straight line speed, but the kid is a serious athlete at that size. I doubt he lands with us, but I'm still loving this kid as a prospect.

Although Richard Rodgers looked to have gotten faster this past season coming out he ran a 4.87. That was worrisome and it proved to be true he's just not fast enough to threaten the seam consistently or to take advantage of matchups with linebackers that should be a mismatch. So as long as they run fast enough it's cool maybe 4.75 and under

And then there's this guy for comparison sake.

Height: 6'-6"
Weight: 260lbs
Arms: 35"
Hands: 10 5/8"
Vertical: 38.5"
Broad Jump: 10'
3-cone: 6.90 seconds
Bench: Dnp injury

I'd say this guy has the best physical skill set of them all as he also ran the fastest 40 of the group at 4.56 seconds.

Jimmy Graham

That being said I like goedert but not before the end of the 4th round. I think there's gonna be better players available at positions of greater need and importance prior to that. Considering goedert will likely be long gone by the end of the 4th round. I prefer guys like Troy fumagali and or Christopher Herndon from Miami in the 5th round. Or another option would be to bundle some of those late picks and accumulate an additional 3rd or 4th rounder or both

Fumagalli is the same guy as Richard Rodgers. A little better at blocking, but super meh.

If we took Goedert at 45, I'd be fine with that.

Guys, I have to apologize.

In all of my talk about PJ Hall, I forgot his most incredible stat. After all you've read on him, if that doesn't get you on the edge of your seat, I don't know what will.

Are you ready?

Here it is:

14.

14 blocked kicks in his career.

Not 1, not 4, FOURTEEN BLOCKED KICKS!

It's so crazy that I can't believe it's not fake. I've never heard of something like that.

lol, nice ninja edit. I was looking for 2018 prospects that matched those stats and couldn't find one. I get it, we signed an aging tight end prospect who can probably still play at a high level, but looking toward the future, this tight end class is very physically gifted. I'm not necessarily saying we should put other needs aside and draft a tight end high, but it would be nice to have someone gifted to sit behind Graham and learn or if worse came to worse, start if Graham went down.

Goedert is just a prospect that I really like which is what this post is all about. One thing I know for sure, Goedert isn't going to be there past late second.

Goedert isn't going to be there at pick #45, but if he is, I hope we pull the trigger. He's been my #1 2018 draft crush since before the 2017 draft. I saw highlights of him when I was looking at TE's for last years draft, and fell in love with this guy. I've been praying for this guy to be a Packer for over a year.

With very few OL in this class meeting the typical thresholds for the Packers, I wonder if they would bend things for Austin Corbett. His 3C was slower than they typically draft, but otherwise he really looks like a Packer. He’s been a left tackle at Nevada and projects inside. Reportedly intelligent and tough.

Another narrow miss is Will Hernandez. He checks the athletic boxes, he’s just a little short.

No way goedert at 45 you'd be passing up a much better player to take him. And Fumagali is a much better blocker than Rodgers. From what I recall Rodgers is big but he's a terrible blocker. I see fumagali as a lot like mark chumura, a possession security blanket. Currently a te that can play inline and block is missing on the roster

If the Packers can get at least one guy from each of these groups the secondary will look much better on paper at least

Cb top tier
Josh Jackson
Denzel Ward
Mike Hughes
Donte Jackson
Holton Hill

Cb 2nd tier
Parry Nickerson
Darius Phillips
Jalen Davis

Safety top tier
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Derwin James
Justin Reid
Jessie Bates
Terrell Edmunds

Better than Rodgers at blocking? Yeah.

Much better? No.

He's not big, he's not fast, he's just a guy. There are quite a few TE's I'd rather take that can actually block.

I think quickness/COD is more important for a TE than straight line speed as they’re rarely asked to just run by someone. I would bet money that Antonio Gates was a 4.8+ for about the second half of his career.

Like Fumagali, Dalton shultz is an inline te who can supposedly block well.

Richard Rodgers played in college as a big wr who the Packers turned into a te he basically didn't block at all at Cal. He was and is definitely not a y

Dalton Schultz is actually a good blocker! Fumagalli is no more than just ok.

Fumagalli is slow, has good hands, is on the small side, and is average at best at blocking.

I'll pass.

If by some miracle we got my favorite prospect in the draft, Minkah Fitzpatrick.. what position would you have him play? In my opinion I would have him be our free safety and move Haha over to replace Burnett. That’s where I think his potential is highest, not at corner even though he’d make a fine corner as well either in the slot or outside.

Check out Josh Norris and Evan Silva. A lot better. Of course Daniel Jeremiah has to be in there too...same with Lance Zierline.

Even guys like Matt Waldman, the guys from NDT Scouting, Justis Mosqueda...I think you would like them.

I prefer Jeremiah’s draft takes more than most other draft gurus.
