Two things:

1) Most of you are over-reacting
2) Some of you are completely retarded with your over-reaction.

We don't need a ****ing running back. For one, we're not a running team. That's just not our identity. It's not who we are. Two, we have enough running backs on our team that we really don't need to trade and give up draft picks for one. Three, as Greg Bedard pointed out via twitter, we were able to run at will against Detroit when we needed to take the remaining 6:30 off the clock. They knew we were gonna run, we knew we were gonna run, and we still did it anyway. Four, and finally, until our O-Line can provide adequate run blocking, we're just not going to have a good ground game. Besides, it's tough to say how good Jackson or Kuhn are since we don't commit to the run anyway. And you know what? We're going to be fine. If any of you saw the game vs. Chicago, we were able to move the ball AT WILL against the Bears. Guess what? No running game!

Besides, teams like the Steelers, Cardinals, Colts and Chargers have proven you don't need a lights out ground game in order to make a good run in the playoffs, so let's all just relax a little, eh? And before you try and say that December and January are gonna cause problems, I'll remind you the Steelers play in every bit of bad weather as we do, and they somehow managed to win the friggin Super Bowl.

Lynch to Seattle..

we can for get that rumor. Lynch went to the seahawks for a 4th round pick and a conditional pick. WOW we couldnt give that up? Well now we have to depend on nance and starks. Hope they can do something!

I'm so fed up with thompson's isolationism. I'm starting to understand why favre hated this pile so much. What is this guy thinking? brandon jackson has no ability to run the football...none. We NEED an established running back a lot more than we need a 4th round pick next year. The future is now you oblivious bastard. You better get williams from carolina or i'm going to lead an angry mob to your doorstep...

A few points ...

1. Seattle's selection in the 4th round is likely to be toward the beginning of the round; GB's should be toward the end of the round. The point: a SEA 4th rounder does not equal a GBP 4th rounder

2. We don't yet know what the conditional pick is. What is the range? For example, when we traded Favre to the Jets we got a conditional picks that was between the 1st and 4th rounds depending on performance

3. We don't know whether Lynch wanted to come to Green Bay. He is also on a short leash per the NFL conduct code.

I'm not saying we should or shouldn't have done this deal (I would have given a 3rd pick based on what I know), but it's tough to comment without having all of the facts.

Something else that really surprises me; Why the heck did Seattle need another running back? Who knew they were even looking. This came out of nowhere. Someone was working under the radar. I wonder how many other teams are doing that.

Well, they need to run the ball, Hasselback isn't doing the job, and with Justin Forsett as your #1 back, you need help. Washington is avery good change of pace, but someone has to carry the load.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Online reported that the guy for Seattle that made the deal is the one who was TT's assistant. He was often frustrated that TT didn't pull the trigger on the people he dug up.

I like what the JS reporter wrote, though regarding the ability to win the Super Bowl with what we have. He has some pretty interesting and compelling points.

I don't think they were changing their minds, I think they were just covering the fact that no one wanted to pay their price. It was clear they were gonna have to cave some time, I just never thought it'd be this soon. Honestly, I thought there would be at least one team that would offer up a 3rd, and if not, we'd be able to snatch him up for a deal like this around the trade deadline.

Oh well, regardless, it's over with Lynch. Time to start looking elsewhere or seriously start investing in Starks and Nance. Nance better be reading those playbooks 12 hours/day.

Another thing ... Seattle is a mediocre team (at best), but they play in the worst division in the NFL. They have no passing attack - Hasselbeck is about 2 years past his prime and has no arm strength. But, a guy like Lynch can help their running attack. In the NFC West, 7-9 could get you into the playoffs and I think that is the Seahawks goal at this point.

I don't think they do this deal if not for the weakness in the division.

I agree with you 100% One thing I would like to add about the Colts and Saints that differ from the Packers situation. Colts and Saints both had home field advantage and since they play in a dome it's a big plus for a passing team. On the other hand if the Packers get homefield advantage(which is something all teams are trying to accomplish) the weather becomes their worst enemy. Slippery frozen field and frozen footballs are not conducive to pass happy football teams.

This guy has it right: Twitter / Fran Dunn: @Greg_A_Bedard Ravens @ GB ...

GB Week 13 last year - 18 degrees. Grant 18 for 41 yards. Rodgers 263 yds 3 TDs. Cold weather argument fail.

Time to put the "Can't pass in cold weather" nonsense to rest.

Bears Country... UGH!!
Just to fuel the fire, the 2nd pick Buffalo got from seattle is a 6th rd pick in '12 that could go up to a 5th based on lynch productivity.

Read that via twitter on adam shefter.
