NEW ORLEANS (AP) -The New Orleans Saints acquired a second fullback in as many days, claiming former Green Bay Packer Vonta Leach off of waivers.
The Saints lost both fullbacks on their Week 1 roster - Mike Karney and Keith Joseph - in the first half of last Sunday's game at Cleveland. Karney went out with a strained calf, Joseph, with a sprained knee ligament.
Earlier this week, the Saints replaced one of them when Corey McIntyre was signed and Joseph was placed on injured reserve. Karney is expected to return in two to four weeks.
To make room for Leach, the Saints waived defensive end Michael Haynes, who was acquired after training camp and was inactive for New Orleans' opener.
Waived by Green Bay on Tuesday, the 6-foot, 250-pound Leach has played in 23 career games during his first three seasons in the league, including Green Bay's loss last Sunday to Chicago, a game he started.
Oh thats sneaky! wonder if he'll get on the field on sunday
