And as for the "grind" of the season - well these guys get paid well to go through that grind, but they also surrender the prime of their lives to do it.

Yeah I mean he’s the leader of the team, not Cobb. It’s a missed opportunity to make a good impression.
That’s all. I suppose I’m guilty of beating him up some. Truthfully I used to defend him quite a bit more several years ago. I don’t personally expect perfection because I’m far from it myself.
I’m going to try to tone it down some and just have fun this season. After all, there’s much worse stuff going on in the world than his petty squabbles (or mine for that matter). I’m still going to root him on, I want the best for him both professionally and personally, I’ll leave it at that.

Probably true. Although most of us don't face the body and mind-wrecking grind of pro football. Some of these guys look like they're 90 years old in their 40s and 50s.

Tom worked out with his wr at a high school I think? didn't need ota for that
I think Brady could work out with a HS receiver in a Walmart parking lot and he'd be good to go. True for Rodgers too, but he'd have to find his own HS receiver and his own Walmart parking lot. Tom won't share.

"Come on Tom, lend me your HS wide receiver, just for a little while? I'll help you work on your swing."

I read something similar. How MVS feels super fortunate to have been playing with 2 of the top QB's in the NFL. Sounds like they have already established decent chemistry with each other. Then again, Mahomes met up with his skill players way ahead of even OTA's, which he also participated in. Mahomes felt it was important to spend time with and get to know all his new receivers. Appears to be a very sound, smart and dedicated approach for a very talented QB to take. :coffee:

“First, we want to build those relationships. I think that’s what made us so great over these last few years,” Mahomes said. “I wanted to get everybody together so they get to meet each other, they learn how each other kind of acts with each other and how to build those friendships, and I wanted to really focus on the details."

Andy Reid even thought it was a good idea.

“Having them with a little time away to do their bonding with themselves, especially with the influx of new players, I think is important,” Reid said. “It says a lot about Patrick.”

Rodgers is the GOAT. I've said that for years and will continue to say it. I hope and expect 3, 4, 5 years, maybe even more of him in Green Bay, although it looks like he may keep people guessing each offseason.

Regarding this playoff thing and not enough Super Bowls, some may whine about that. Not me. I'm perfectly happy feeling the joy of victory about 14 out of 17 regular season games. Beyond that, it's frosting on the cake.

If given a choice of winning it all this year, and then Rodgers is done - the team nosediving accordingly OR having another five or so great seasons but not doing much in the playoffs, which would ya'all choose? Give me that latter absolutely.

Texas I'm with you on enjoying all the wins and staying entertained by my team well into January, SB or not. I wish we had at least one more Lombardi trophy, but I don't put that on Rodgers shoulders completely. TT didn't do much for the team (well other than drafting AR!). But he never participated in FA, never put the other pieces in place for the team to be successful. Fortunately, Gluten is doing a lot more.

As far as GOAT, I don't believe there is one in team sports. If you're talking about a position, like QB, that's different. I'd argue that Rodgers is technically the best to play the position. I'd have to go with Brady though for all the right decisions he's made in key situations to win championships. But it really doesn't change the fact that we have a great team in GB, and have had for 30 years. Not many fans can say that.

I think you're right and Rodgers will continue to play as long as he can and as long as he wants to. It may be year to year, but he sure looks like he could play for a number of years.

Not even close, I'd take the Super Bowl. You can't take those Lombardis out of the Atrium.

As a side note, I'm convinced fans of most other teams would be extremely happy if Rodgers was their quarterback. People who aren't fans of the NFL most likely don't care about it at all as they have no idea about OTA practices.

I think that overall Packers fans are way more critical of Rodgers than supporters of other teams.
I have lived in San Diego since 1987, and my large social group over the years has (and does) include fans of nearly every other NFL team. We talk sports all the time and NFL is a large part of our convo. While we talk about Rodgers quite frequently, as we do about Carr, Herbert and Mahomes, rarely do I get asked about his perceived selfishness. If not about his performance, maybe once in a while about his girlfriend(s).

My guess would be they know and care as little about this stuff for us as I do about their players personal/perceived character flaws. Living here, I know slightly more about other teams players as I would still back in Wisconsin.

I don't care who doesn't go to OTA's. If you want it to be mandatory, make it mandatory. NFL players get a few months to pack in as much planning as they can. If someone is having some special gathering or event I would love to be a part of and there is no other time of the year, my options are... well, as bargained in our contract... MY options.

I know none of you upset with Rodgers missing non-mandatory anything can be union.

If everyone on our team were as prepared to play as #12 we would have had several more trophies in the last 10 years.

Both you and Cap make good points. I do think GB fans are more critical of Rodgers than other NFL fans and their QBs. Seems to be a recent phenomenon that started when he held out. And is Rodgers a little full of himself? IMO he is but as long as he keeps the team in the W column and the SB hunt I don't care. And for those who are most critical - well they'll be the loudest after he leaves and we're stuck with......... well, never mind. We'll be stuck.

And I think it's true that if everyone were as prepared as Rodgers is before every game, we'd have more Lombardi trophies. His knowledge of the game, the opponent, the opponent's weaknesses and strengths is second to none. The only thing I fault him for is not coming through more often when the lights are their brightest. Four straight NFCCG losses, with two very painful. And those losses were a team effort. But that's not a big complaint given what he does week in and week out, and the entertainment value of following the Packers well into January and February.

Yep. Everyone remembers the SB winners. No one remembers the losers. I have to think hard to remember who the Rams beat last year. So yeah, give me the Lombardi. We all remember February 97. We all remember February 2011. And we all remember the Ice Bowl and the first two SBs (well, if you're as old as me you remember.......).

There's nothing better than being a fan of the champions.

No doubt about it, I think most Packer fans are just a little too young to remember when we didn't have guys like Favre and Rodgers under center. Unless you've seen that era, maybe there's a little lacking in the respect for what these guys brought to the Packer game.

Yeah living through the 70s and 80s was no picnic for Packer fans. Pretty much 20 years of misery. Instead of cleaning the now, there was a constant attempt to relive the past. That failed miserably. It wasn't until Bob Harlan became president and hired Ron Wolf did things change. Wolf brought Holmgren and Favre on board, and away we went. And we're still going.

Sooner or later Rodgers will be gone. Fortunately I think he'll play three more years. He's guaranteed $59 mil if he plays next year, and $40 mil the year after that. Yeah, he's rich, bit who can say no to that kind of money?

So whether it's one year, or three years, or something else, enjoy the time while Rodgers is here. There's no guarantee a third HOF QB will waltz in.
