Court date set for Vikings tackle Kevin Williams

Vikings All-Pro defensive tackle Kevin Williams faces a court date next week stemming from an Aug. 28 arrest for domestic violence, according to police records.
Minnetonka police charged Williams with fifth-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor, after his wife called 911 during an early-morning altercation at their home. Williams' brother, Derrick, was issued a formal complaint for interfering with emergency communications.
When police arrived, Tasha Williams had blood on her shirt and two lacerations on her left forearm. Kevin Williams was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, the records showed.
Williams, who will start in Sunday's season opener against Tampa Bay, declined to comment today. Coach Mike Tice also had no comment.
The NFL could suspend or fine Williams when the case is resolved, but the league typically does not issue suspensions for misdemeanors.
Williams' attorney, Joe Tamburino, said he will plead not guilty during a Sept. 13 hearing.
"We are contesting all of the allegations," Tamburino said.
