It sounds like the Redskins might cut Zach Brown. He played quite well for Kirk Olividatti (our new ILB coach) last year.

Just something to look for.

I agree and its been referenced before, the immeasurable feature of having Graham on the field is possibly opening a throw up to another another receiver because the defense had to respect Graham.

That's true, but I am not so sure that the threat Graham provides is significantly greater than your league average TE at this point.

I would agree with you but would change it to read "to this point". Hoping a new coach and a new look offense will change what we saw in 2018. :)

That would obviously be great, but I'm not counting on it. Graham isn't that player any more. I think the most fans can realistically hope for is that he returns to RZ dominance and becomes a major scoring threat. That's one aspect of his game that I actually can envision bouncing back.

I think my #1 FA I'd want to see in Green Bay next year is Adrian Amos. He is just a rock solid, versatile, smart, durable well rounded safety. He doesn't have a ton of ball production but I'm not 100% sold that he couldn't. But even if he didn't, he would bring a ton of stability to the back end of the defense. He'd also remove the dire need to draft the first safety they can find with a pulse.

2nd guy I really want to see the Packers nab is Shaq Barrett. He's a starting caliber player who has been stuck in a talent rich position group. His lack of track record as a full time player could discount him a bit. He fits the defense. He wouldn't solve the position entirely, but he would take some pressure off of it.

Saffold at RG.
Humphries at WR.
Collins or Amos at safety.
Hicks if we can at ILB.

Collins and Hicks are pipe dreams, but I'd be happy if they pursue those positions in FA.

Completely agree with this and a move I could see happening because I think he's a solid player that's affordable. Any thoughts on Preston Smith? Sounds like there's some uncertainty about him going back to the Redskins due to the Alex Smith injury. Not really sure how much he'll cost though. A couple guys like this and maybe a solid draft pick and we could have a solid edge rush.

I like Preston Smith quite a bit. I think he's probably the more talented player of these two. And he has been a starter. However, I think Barrett has been as good or better on a per snap basis. And because he hasn't been the man in Denver, he's likely to cost maybe ~4M less than Smith.

Now of course, part time successful players don't always make full time successful players. But Barrett's best season came when he played his highest snap count (over 600), which I think bodes well.

Agree. Amos may not have the stats, but he is one of the best covering safetys in the league. I would totally love this move.

That may be true but that's not how the defense treats him. I didn't watch any all 22 but by all accounts that I heard the defenses were focusing on graham just as much as they were davantae

Maybe so. I didn't really see it.

There was a lot of focus directed toward Graham and the middle of the field in red zone situations. A clear example of this was in the New England game. Belichick wasn't going to give us Graham. Routinely had him doubled, or had a second defender shadowing him.

To your point a few posts ago, it would be a huge plus for Graham to recapture some red zone dominance and if he can do that, I think he'll be well worth what he's getting paid right now.

I maintain that he'll be a key element in the offense moving forward.

Graham played nowhere close to his contract and that’s what matters. He put up decent raw numbers as far as tight ends are concerned, but he showed a lack of effort plenty, especially in the blocking department, hardly had any effect whatsoever on the offense as a whole, and his catch rate was 8th worst in the league amongst Tight ends with at least 25 catches(49 TEs).

Graham never excelled at blocking therefore it was unrealistic to expect him to be any good in that department in the first place.

Collins or Amos at safety.

Collins is primarily a strong safety. The Packers need to add a free safety though.

Not gonna happen.

I don't think it would all be that great of a move in the first place though.
I go back and forth, not that I think we should give up a ton to trade for him, but on one hand I see a guy who's been very durable over a number of years. Peppers like and still getting to the QB at a high level. On the other I think, he's got some wear and tear, it will take a toll eventually and he's getting a salary where Denver might feel like we have with matthews over the past few seasons. Once worth it, but not now. I don't want to get stuck with the lower production and high salary player again. Though i guess we wouldn't be on the hook for any bonus money, so we'd just have to cap salary and could cut

There's no doubt Miller is an elite player but the draft capital it would take to acquire him on top of a cap hit of $17 million for next season would male it tough to improve other positions of need this offseason.

That's why I'm opposed to make a move for him.

A decent, veteran QB. Now that the team doesn't have a coach with a vested interest in pretending he is a wunderkind at developing QBs, maybe the front office can do the right thing for the team and bring in a decent backup.

Landon Collins can play two high as a free or strong safety. Just depends what scheme you want to play. He can't play single high. It's not like his coverage skills are bad.

It's fine to do that, as long as you also accept that it's going to cost quite a bit more to land a decent veteran QB over trying to develop one. There is wisdom in BOTH though processes. and neither is without pitfalls.

One you never know what you'll get under pressure until it's time to show it and the other has shown it, he's not proven to be a starter, but will probably be what you thought him to be. But with the former you have a lot more money to spend on say a 3rd TE or 3 Safety or 4th DB. that is a position that will see the field regularly, have more impact on a week to week basis and can play special teams too. Or you use that money to sign a 2nd or 3rd DB, pushing your other guys further down the depth chart. a re-tread slightly below average vet QB is still getting 3-5+ million per season. That gets you some pretty decent players at other positions that will definitely play week to week even as a back up. and a tough pill to swallow when you hope a back up QB never sees the field. It becomes easier if the back up does need to play and does well. But neither is assured.

Demarcus Lawrence, Dee Ford, Jadeveon Clowney and Frank Clark all expected to get franchise tag'd so all those pipe dreams are now gone.
