If he's a "Top corner in the league," why aren't other teams willing to give up a 5th or 6th round draft pick for him?
His big salary. He's due $9.5 million next season.

Well I watch almost every Eagles game and I'd like to think do know a good bit about how good Samuel is. He's a top CB in the league.
His best years are behind him? Give me a break. He's a perennial pro bowler and one of the top corners in the league. You don't have to be an expert at anything football related to know that.
Did you think Woodson was done when we picked him up?
It's Samuel, not Samuels. And he had a hamstring injury that kept him out of some games last season. You act like he's made of glass.
Once again I wasn't aware of our cap situation so this is likely not a possibility. But seriously, you can't deny that he's still an elite player in this league.

Depends on how much money you have and whether you feel it is worth it to invest it in a corner that is 31. First from what I understand the Packers don't have the cap room. Secondly, spending that kind of money could have huge consequences down the road when you need to sign other players. Yes, some teams like the Redskins will find such an adventure worthwhile.Maybe, but if he's a top corner in the league, wouldn't his salary be worth it to other teams in need?

I think he is an elite CB. He has missed 12 games over a 9 year career so I don't think he is injury prone. That's less than Woodson though Woodson has played longer. But like most things it's about the money and it would take crazy money to sign him even if he restructures. He isn't going to play for $1-2 mil. If we were going to spend the kind of money it would take to sign him then that money would have been better spent on a Mario Williams in my opinion.
I agree with most of your post, especially the first paragraph, but I don't agree that he's elite. I feel like, iff he was elite, the Eagles would have chosen to keep and extend him last season. Instead they tried unsuccessfully to trade him and signed Asomougha. I won't rule out schematic reasons, but I feel like if he was as good as he's being made out to be, they would be trying to keep him and work with him rather than trade him.
Besides, the Eagles are the last team in the league I would ever want to do a trade with. They're the masters of trading polished turds.. See Kolb, Kevin, McNabb, Donovan, and Owens, Terrell.

Asante Samuel is excited to be with the Atlanta Falcons after a trying 2011 season and offseason with the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I'm happy to be a Falcon," said the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback, whom Atlanta acquired Wednesday in exchange for a seventh-round pick in this week's NFL draft. "The city is embracing me well. The Falcons have an excellent team, coaches, schemes and talent."
The Eagles had been unsuccessfully shopping Samuel since last year, and one impediment to a deal was his hefty contract. Samuel, 31, was scheduled to make $21.5 million over the next two seasons, and he would count for more than $8 million against the salary cap.
But, as part of the trade, Samuel and the Falcons agreed to terms on a three-year, $18.5 million contract, a source with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network's Albert Breer. Then the swap was completed.
"I wanted to be a Falcon, so we made it work," Samuel said.
Chances he rides pine? If they put him on the field, it hopefully means Robinson comes off. That guy gets away with murder.
