Would the addition of Carl Nicks outweigh developing T.J. Lang and the additional money to sign free agents and resign current Packer free agents?

It would not be good value at all. Lang played fine this year and has loads of potential. Nicks would cost a lot of money that needs to get spent elsewhere.

Yes it would. But it won't happen because

A) Nick is the best guard in the league (arguably) and Brees with his shorter stature as a QB he needs to be able to step up in the pocket and have time on those deep drops and Nicks is the guy that makes that possible. They won't let him just walk off the team. The Saints have the best line in the league, they are going to do whatever they need to do to keep it together

and

B) We probably can't afford him anyway and if we could we wouldn't pay him.

There are some obvious problems on the Packers but IMO OG is not one of them. IMO a UFA signing addressing a need at DE, OLB, CB, S (perhaps), and even LT would have a much greater impact.

Neither can we, but we cant afford to loose him either... quite the conundrum..

This is very true! Of all our FA, this is the most important one to lock up. Drew is at his best when he is able to step up in the pocket; Nicks and Evans make this possible. I cant see them letting him go.
