There is literally zero reason to dispose McNamee, he takes up zero spots officially and could easily grow into a guy that is fully capable of being your back up kicker.
They aren't...Poker is just in his feels is all.....give him sometime he'll eat a snickers and calm down LOL

I had 2 snickers bar and am much calmer now. :whistling: :roflmao:

I will say it again. If Havrisik is your new backup kicker and makes it to the PS, there really isn't a whole lot of reasons to keep McNamee. Unless, you think Havrisik is in danger of being poached. While McNamee is a "free" player on the PS, if there is another IPP player out there that has more potential than McNamee. then there is another reason to let him go. If there isn't, then sure, keep McNamee and have 3 kickers.

Final thought. Do we even know McNamme's health? Maybe he wasn't even available to kick?

So few things as I researched....

The IPP exemption if I interpretted it all correctly is not something you can swap folks in and out of during the season. Meaning we cannot drop him and redesignate a different one....likewise IPP players are protected on a team's roster for that year as the IPP.

Essentially you have to identify and assign your IPP and then basically its a one year committment that has zero risk or cost roster wise to the team...one could argue McNamee has the safest practice squad spot there is in GB. He can still be elevated the same three times even to that gameday without losing that designation.

Cutting McNamee right now would be a loss with zero gain...even if McNamee never sees an active gameday, he is a kicker in house for in case of emergency you otherwise would not have. Say McManus wakes up with appendicitis and there is zero chance of getting a FA signed and in for the game...McNamee gives that security.

Well, THAT my friends is how you win a case in court! "Poker's motion to possibly cut McNamee is denied." *insert gavel slam here*

Forgot about the international player exemption. So the Packers may have found some insurance at K, although Havrisik, if he played this weekend, has to stop kicking into the end zone. He should be able to fix that in a week.......
Maybe you can correct me but I thought the times he kicked it into the endzone was when it was important not to give them a chance at a big runback and were warranted. It is nice to use up those seconds though.

Not sure this is relevant to your conversation at the moment but it is certainly telling that we went out and got someone else to do the kicking and left the foreigner on the ps. And I am glad they did. He looked really bad preseason.

Agree and this was definitely part of my point. Although, as I admitted, I didn't know if it was because the Packers felt McNamee wasn't ready for the big stage or he was hurt. As @tynimiller correctly pointed out, McNamee is our IPP guy and since he is protected from poaching and you can't sign another one (IPP) to replace him, we will be sticking with him for the whole season.

I think we should have chosen that guy more carefully

There isn't a massive amount of them each year elgible. McNamee has a leg for sure, its consistent technique that he needs to harness.

Was going to say the same thing in response. Efe Obada, Jordan Mailata, and Jakob Johnson appear to be the most successful IPP players. I think the program was intended to get more interest in the NFL *Cough, Cough, money* from places outside of the U.S.

If the Packers see great potential in McNamee, might pay off in the future.

That makes sense. It's supposed to be about a development program and that would be a commitment to more than a week to week issue in my opinion. Good info.

Yeah that is the heart of it, if it wasn’t treated as this it would just be an additional normal PS spot

Several of his kicks were in the box. I suspect that on the last two kickoffs that B and MLF instructed him to kick it deep for fear of long return for a TD. MLF may have felt that Flacco and the Bengals could not get down the field as fast as a Detroit or KC and that would use up a lot of clock with a 2 score lead.

That is what fans were saying at the game. With a 10 or 14 point lead at that stage of the game the only way the Bengals could win is with run backs. Flacco moved the Bengals with small ball. It took a lot of plays. He did not have the time to take big strikes down the field. And at 40 he was not about to mimic Mahommes by either escaping or running for it. And in his first game with a new team offense he does not have the entire playbook yet.

Correctemundo! Flacco was throwing short passes because he didn't have time for anything other than quick reads and he hadn't had time to learn the intricacies of the more complex routes. It would take a lot more time to negotiate the field when you can't get chunk plays. For once, late game decision making was on the money. That sometimes seems to fly out the window like a spider monkey heading for a banana tree.

I didn't pick up on that. Thanks.

How do I put a big X over an old post? Asking for a friend, as I eat another Snicker bar.

I will just put this right here for @tynimiller and everyone else to see. :whistling:

lol I saw this but couldn’t log on.

I’m betting this means we are for sure going to add a kicker to the PS. Whether that is Hav if he clears waiver or someone else.

Hey he can be released AND I made valid case. We will no longer be using the IPP I assume unless I grossly misunderstood and we can add a new one.

That strongly suggests to me that they're very confident McManus will be ready on Sunday.
Eh Hav is still on roster so that doesn’t matter. I wonder if McNamee asked for this even possibly since they didn’t have him come up…perhaps he didn’t want to be the token Extreme Emergency charity case given his IPP classification….no clue.

I have a few messages in to contacts to see if I can get any reasons…
