If the Packers are looking at a trade versus picking up one of the available FA's, the first call they should make is to the Cardinals for Tyler Algier. James Connor is probably #1 with Love their new 1st round pick. TA may be gettable at a decent price.

I believe they just signed Algier as a FA this offseason, so I would think Connor or Trey Benson would be the possible RB trade pieces with the Cardinals.

Either way, the Cardinals looks like the team that would have possible pieces to target, whoever that may be. The reason I think it'd be Algier is I think they still view Connor as their clear #1 RB. Love would likely be #2.

This Packer team needs two (2) Offensive lineman, a Tackle and Guard urgently as well as a vet RB. There are still two OL as unsigned FA's and Chubb available as a RB. But will this team spend the money on a one-year or two-year deal to get them and bolster the current roster. Packers still have position issues IMO, little depth and potentially no #1 running back for the upcoming season does not bode well for a team that some say should be in the mix for division title. At this stage (way too early) the current roster has potential holes and I would rate them as 3rd best in the Division (Bears, Lions, Pack and Vikings). The difference may only be a game or two BUT, that could make or break a playoff spot.

I’d be curious. What have the Bears done on Defense since last year that has you so confident? They ranked 23rd and struggled to get by a Packer team at Soldier Field that was playing without our Star TE and starting RT + our Star LB and we lost a a good DT. Had McManus not shanked a 44 yarder? It would’ve been GB30 CHI31 and we had the ball on the Chicago 23 yard line with :13 sec left in regulation. Brandon would likely have his job and GB would’ve advanced.

I just don’t see what Chicago did this offseason that’s so spectacular other than lose their Starting Center and Starting LT. They had to use a RD2 pick to replace their Center. RD1 they did draft Thienaman but the lost their entire Veteran Safety group from 2025, so that’s more just trying to get a chance at an instant plug at Safety for holes.

Malik Muhammad was a nice find at #124, but is that enough to change the course from a bottom 10 Defense into a Top 10? Keep in mind GB struggled and still ranked #11 Defensively. Chicago was awful on D.

May look grim right now. But 2026 is not essentially going to be a much better season than 2025. We know that. 2027 is when this team should reap its dividends.

On paper there is no major score here for the Bears. What they have going is the boost they received by rising to the occasion in 2025. Will they elevate or stagnate from that bump in 2026? Neither the Packers, Lions, or Vikings rose to the occasion as much and had to settle for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Which team or teams will overcome adversity? Which will win games even on their bad days? That is how the head coach earns his pay.
I remember the Packers beating the Rams, a top contender in the NFL in 1966, 24-13. Starr had an MVP season. But he fumbled the ball away twice as did Hornung and Pitts once. Despite dominating the stats Lombardi walked off the field angry, shouting out his displeasure. His defensive line made the sacks and the stops to overcome the mistakes. But he was not about to let his team think they could win that way every week or any week.

Innocent until proven guilty, but these charges aren't something the Packers should take lightly. If they're credible, could be the end of Jacobs career.

I felt that the Packers were already in need of a RB before this, that feeling has doubled.

Yup. That was over 12 years ago too. Also, just charges and allegations, Rice was initially indicted on a charge of third-degree aggravated assault. He avoided jail time and a formal trial by entering a one-year pretrial intervention program, paying a fine, and completing anger management counseling. The charges against him were formally dismissed in 2015 after he successfully completed the program. Meanwhile, the NFL suspended Rice indefinitely, which was later overturned, but he never played again.

Again, innocent, until proven guilty, but these are the type of PR headaches that NFL teams don't like to deal with. We may never see Jacobs play again. If that happens about the only job in the U.S. left for him would be to become President, but he'll have to wait until he is 35 to do that.

Thanks Suds. Gluten needs a contingency plan at RB, unfortunately. It may take some time to sort out Jacobs' situation. and aside from the legal systems' response, the league may impose penalties.

Just don't know enough to say how this could affect Jacobs role. With Wilson gone and Lloyd a ?, best to have some options lined up.

If there is enough evidence for the NFL to suspend Jacobs, I just don't see a scenario that justifies the Packers to hang on to him.

I fully expect to see Gute obtain a RB that can play at a starting caliber. The Packers needed insurance behind Lloyd, now they need Insurance ahead of Jacobs.

Depends how it turns out. He could be docked 6 games and made to go to counseling for 25 years and it maybe wasn't as bad as all that. They stay together. The woman sometimes gets physical I bet. Have to learn those facts.

Staying together after the fact, wouldn't change my mind as to just how bad this is, if in fact he did commit the offenses.

While I agree with you that "all the facts" are needed and I am sure that is what the NFL and authorities are collecting before proceeding, I am not a fan of throwing in things like "the women sometimes gets physical I bet." We all need to get past victim shaming with phrases like "she was asking for it."

I'm just guessing, but his name is probably circulating amongst many different fan bases as a "perfect fit" for their team. All I have heard is that he is "unhappy" in AZ and didn't show up at OTA's. Is he unhappy because he thinks the Cardinals suck, doesn't like his role, wants more money? If he wants more money, hard pass on him.

If Sweat is just wanting to play for a new team, then he would probably be worth the trade. I have read that it would probably take a 2027 conditional 4th rounder, that would escalate to a 3rd rounder, depending on set performance levels.

The good news for the Packers is their leg up with having Gannon as their DC. As Sweat's former coach at AZ, Gannon is going to know his value to the Packers defense and how he could be used.

Now that the calendar has hit 6/1, the Packers have picked up an andditional $11.442M in cap space. This comes from putting post-June 1 cut designations on Hobbes and McManus.

The Packers now rank 11th in the NFL, with an available cap space of $27.5M. They also have 2 open roster spots.

I expect to see Gute make a move or 2 this week.

Also, if things with Jacobs go haywire, the Packers could free up another $11M with his release.

One more note here on Sweat - He is due around 18m for each of the next three years...BUT 7m of that and change was already paid this year as a roster bonus. So this year would only be due a little less than 11m.

The remaining two years (36m), as far as I know, have next to nothing in guaranteed money.

Josh Sweat would be a good addition, and would certainly help the defense. Sweat's salary in not horrible 2026=10.8 million 2027& 2028= 18.00 million. To me there is two questions. 1) What would Arizona want for compensation. If they want a second or third round pick in the 2027 draft I pass. If they would take a forth in 2027, and a sixth in the 2028 draft I would consider that. I have been told the 2027 draft will have amazing and very deep talent. I would prefer to hang onto the packers second, and third round picks.

2)The Packers have drafted 3 edge rushers in the past two drafts. The addition of Sweat will mean taking plays away from the young group at the position.

The addition of Sweat would mean you can take your time with a Micah return.

If the price is right I would do it. Sweat's performance against K.C in the super bowl was a contributing factor as he harassed Mahomes the entire game.
