I realize he must know the plays. But he must not be that good if can't even stay on the practice squad. Why not try someone else out there?
Let's do that math. If you sign a player to your practice squad, he's not on a practice squad or active roster. Assuming each team has 9 OL on the roster and 2 practice squad, and giving the NFL the benefit of the doubt that there isn't a diamond in the rough sitting on couch somewhere, the best this player could be is the 353rd lineman in the league.
I'd rather have #360 who knows how to break the huddle, knows his assignment, and be terrible vs. #353 who doesn't know how to break the huddle, doesn't know his assignment, and is still terrible.
