Yes. That’s because of inconsistency. We play great for a quarter or half but then just fall apart. Or just opposite. We play good in Q1 and Q4 but in garbage time.

To answer yes I’m optimistic. Yet imo we are not that far removed from a highly competitive team. Our flipped 2 positions and then lost starters in 1-2 more. Hard to play with 2 presumed Starters and both are relatively newer at OC and LT.

As the season progresses you’ll see a positive change in a horrific start. Plus we’re adding veterans. I just hope it’s not too late. Might take 3-4 weeks to get continuity etc. We’re still talented enough to beat 2 teams without starting QB’s if we clean up just some small issues. Even at 2-4 and then getting players back we can cause problems. Suddenly we’re 3-5 and then 5-6 and then it’s anyones season IF we start protecting Jordan and have Josh n Micah back.

I’m not interested in style points at 13-4. Rather be 7-7 and rising
Issue is 7-7 might be too late to do anything to make the playoffs… unless.. HOLY COW HERE COMES THE 7TH SEED WITH A CHAIR!!!

Even at 7-7, the last 3 games are not the walk in the park we should have had so far with 2 of our opponents. So 7-10 or even 8-9 will not get it. And getting to that record is a long shot right now. It is mathematically possible but in reality the rest of the league is just better than the Packers. And it really is not even close.

Rightfully so milani. In the NFL power rankings GB is near the bottom and rightfully below Atlanta.

It’s gonna take more than one game to turn things around, a game they haven’t come close playing yet.
And looking at why the NFL moved our Bear game tells me that they want the audience to exclusively watch the 9ers-Seahawks. The other 2 games left must be played in the late time slot because they are in the west.

Matt LaFleur on Jayden Reed being out for the season: “I just didn’t understand the magnitude of it at the time.”

This guy needs to do just stop doing press conferences because something absolutely insane comes out of his mouth every time he is asked a question.

He was stretchered off with an obvious neck injury. What in Gods name are you talking about?

I’d rather watch the Niners/hags after the shitkazoo Packer season thus far.

Like I said, what coach or GM would want to take the job knowing that a new president is on the horizon? No coach or GM worth his salt is going to want to step into a volatile situation like that and who is going to want to take the job of president if they have to agree to stick with someone else's GM for x number of years?

No matter what happens on the field, it would be a mess in the making to fire either of them after this or next season. The prudent course would be to exercise some patience and accept that rebuilding an offense is a process that is measured in years, not months. Favre's comments on the situation yesterday were on point.

The only feasible way I can see of firing MLF before Murphy retires would be to promote from within. And who would you choose that would be better?
Well that’s just it BA. If Lombardi could some how be resurrected to coach the Packers, it wouldn’t matter.

In anger over the Atlanta debacle, I admit to being on board the fire MLF train. After cooling off, I realized it wouldn’t change a thing.

But if this level of play continues to the bye, MLF would be fired.

I watched that interview in full. That’s being taken out of context. He was speaking to the initial response on the field. I think it kinda hit him hard once he realized he was more hurt than originally thought. That play didn’t look like anything of a season ending magnitude imo.

We got to watch Wicks play for the Eagles. He is still standing.

The more I think about the OL veterans we signed this week, the more it makes sense.

We didn’t sign these guys just to play. We signed them to coach our OL, since our current OL coach isn’t effective and we won’t fire him.

I was half joking with a buddy saying “maybe Zeitler can just be a player-coach for our line” and… turns out that was for real

An honest account of the beleaguered Packers in week 4.

It’s amazing how a poor position group can have such an outsized impact. Unless something has changed, this will be the last game where the Packers might compete.

I hate to just give up on the season. Sounds like two of Gluten’s OL additions this week will start at LG and. RG. At this point, the moves can’t hurt and should show OL improvement.

MLF has to do something too. He needs a game plan that keeps Love on his feet. Screens, rollouts, short WR routes just behind the LBs.
and others.
Most frustrating is that everywhere else, the team is talented, even the CBs.

Good point. But I do wonder when Butkus will get whacked and Stevanich can spend more time with the OL.

I expect these newly added vets on the OL will help a lot.

The only silver lining is nobody is expecting us to compete. As far as CB I read somewhere someone’s suggestion to trade Nixon before deadline. As crazy as it sounds IF we lose the next pair of games it could be on the table. At minimum he’s a solid rotational CB and immediate answer at KR/PR and might bring a 2027 Day 3 area draft pick and you get a look at our depth.

We should know better our position after these next pair of games. Oddly if we win either? It starts to change our outlook this season again. At 2-2 or 2-3 we are far from eliminated.

Head coach of my favorite NFL team: “we need to stop talking about Super Bowls, I don’t want to hear those words in anybody’s vocabulary anymore here”

Interesting idea about trading Nixon OS. I think he would fetch, at best, a 4th round pick, and that may well be worth it. To your points, he's a decent CB and a good returner. A trade is certainly something inside the realm of possibility. And the D is already playing well, Atlanta aside, and Parsons should be back soon. Finally, Cisse is playing ok and learning. I love his aggressiveness. I don't know how St. Juste has perfromed so far.

And I agree that being 2-2, 2-3 is not a death sentence on the season. There is a LOT of football ahead. What holds down my optimism is the truly awful play of the OL, and now the loss of the best player in that group, ZBB.

Gluten did what he had to do this week by picking up some retread linemen (with solid pedigrees). I think two of the three he acquired are expected to start at RG and LG today. Zeitler is one and O forget the other. I'll feel better if that can buy Love more than 2.5 seconds after the snap, and if holes can be opened so we really know what Lloyd is capable of. Even Jacobs could not run well behind this line.

To close on Nixon, he seems he is playing better this year due to increased competition.

In truth, the Packers have not faced a good QB so far. Maybe Murray for 11 plays. But Wentz, Geno, and Pennix are not exactly lamplighters. When we see Goff, Stafford, Caleb, and Josh, then CB will REALLY be tested.

That's a good, and depressing point. The first four opponents - queens, jets, falcons, and now bucs - should have led to a 4-0 start for the Packers. Maybe 3-1 if you give Flores and the queens' D the credit it grudgingly deserves.

Nothing even close to that has transpired. That said, I think this D can hold their own against any team. That's not the problem though. It's the OL, to restate the obvious. If the recent OL acqusitions don't materially help today, it will be a long, long season.

But hey, the Crew won last night. That helps some for Wisconsin sports fans.

Packers beat reporter Pete Dougherty, asking a perfectly legitimate, softball question: “How do you accomplish what you want to do this year without Cooper? He’s such a talented player”.

Matt LaFleur: “Yeah, I don’t know, Pete.”

(Awkward silence)

Not that talking to the media is the most important part of Matt’s job, but how is he getting progressively worse at it every year in year 8?

A good honest answer. We did not know how we were going to accomplish anything without Parsons last season. And the truth is that we didn't. There is no formula. It is why the Broncos were not in the SB last season. One play, one player, one game. And you just take the field with what you have.

Not that it wasn’t honest - I’m sure it was — but this is what I mean about dealing with the press.

90% of coaches are going to come back with something like “Yeah, Pete, that’s a great question. Cooper is such an important part of what we do defensively. You don’t just replace a guy like that. That said, I’ve got all the confidence in the world in Jonathan and the rest of the linebackers we have in that room. And we’re all going to work together and find the answer to that.”

Wow even a rookie head coach should have a better answer than "I don't know". That's just plain lame, and hardly inspiring to the other guys on D who will have to pick up the slack.
