The record of college coaches coming to the NFL is not a good one. Even Nick Saban didn't do much with the Dolphins. One of the exceptions was Jimmy Johnson but the odds are slim.

Is this due to the long history of college coaches making the leap to the nfl as a head coach? Riley would be an amazing OC however, I worry about him as an HC.

I still think Jim Harbaugh would be a match of wits for Rodgers.....but that is why Murphy and Gute get paid the big bucks. Make a decision for the betterment of the team.

This is digging up old news a little, but I think it may be relevant:

Remember Aaron Rodgers was upset that they fired his quarterback coach (Alex Van Pelt) without consulting him? And now this season Rodgers play has not been up to his usual standard, and beyond that he also seems to have developed some bad habits. Maybe he and Van Pelt had a closer working relationship than we realized.

We've also seen that Rodgers is slow to trust new receivers. Maybe he's slow to trust a new quarterback coach also?

Why was Van Pelt fired, anyway? And who specifically fired him? Anybody know?

That would be quite the trick.

Are you saying that Pelt wasn't really fired, he decided not to return? I guess he left when his contract expired.

That puzzles me too. As AVP somehow was able to keep Rodgers in check. Sometimes in life you have that one person that can keep you on the level and I guess AVP was that to Rodgers.
