A bean pole.
He is very thin but an amazing ball handler, for any height, but especially well over 7'. Wembanaya is his name, I think, and he comes from France. At first I thought he was way too skinny for the NBA. That hasn't been the case - well so far.

Yeah, the timeouts at the end of games is absurd for the fan.
I'm with Poker - I hate ads when I'm watching something. Sports is different as there are natural pauses in the action, making room for ads. But for a movie or a series, no thanks. And yeah, the services still manage to sneak in a few ads, or at least it seems that way.

It costs more to have streaming delivered ad-free. Worth every penny IMO.

You really notice all the commercial timeouts when you are at a game. Just sitting there, looking at the teams waiting for the official to tell them "We're back on TV." At least at home you can channel surf for 2 minutes, get food, bathroom break, etc. I also notice that the younger fans have their phones out during games, scrolling and looking up when the crowd roars. What a way to live life, glued to a screen. Typing that as I am looking at my screen made me laugh.
Gotta wonder what degree of brain damage we're doing from all the doom-scrolling. I do it too. I'm a former financial adviser and have a terrible habit of checking market and individual stock prices all through the day. I know it's not necessary, but can't seem to stop.

Other than this forum, I do not use the big social media apps like Facebook, X, ESPN, et al. Just seems like a waste of time - like checking stock prices every 15 minutes........

One of those young ones whose metabolism burns up 5 meals a day when he may eat 2 or 3. Wish we all could say that.

The first thing I am going to do when I retire is throw away my smart phone and get a dumb phone. One that only dials in and out. No texting, no surfing, etc. When I go on vacations I turn my phone off and leave it behind. Such a "freeing" feeling.

Interesting I thought. The 1st 10 picks of the NBA draft on a mock I saw are all freshmen.

Been on both sides of that. Long story short, at this point I think virtually everyone stands to benefit from reduced social media usage across the board

I was an "early adopter" on virtually every major social networking platform. And to be fair I think a lot of them showed a lot of promise, had many useful/valuable features, and overall had a number of positive contributions they could bring to the table

But now, it's been nearly 10 years now where basically every platform has moved to being exclusively algorithm-driven (rather than chronological for instance) and IMO they are pretty much all worse off for it.

And let me be clear, I don't mean it to sound holier-than-thou or anything like that, because I've been there, and I still pop in to check my facebook every few months, or watch shorts on youtube. But I have to remind myself - research has shown time and time again that modern social media is quite literally designed from the ground up to be addictive and keep you there and/or coming back again and again and again. And for me it's a matter of personal philosophy that I don't want anyone or anything to be "master" over me. Maybe social media doesn't have the same harmful addictive consequences as something like substances or gambling or whatnot, but at the end of the day it's still another "device" that is designed to hijack control from you (and I don't mean that in like a mind-control conspiracy or anything like that lol. Just in the sense that like any addiction it compels you to behave in a way that is not entirely your own).

One of my favorite quotes on the matter from Epictetus (who was himself born into literal slavery): "God has entrusted me with myself. No man is free who is not master of himself. A man should live so that his happiness shall depend on as little as possible on external things. The world turns aside to let any man pass who knows where he is going"

That's why I enjoy places like PackerForum or the like. That's not to say it's completely without fault but it's a lot better than spending time on pretty much any social media network IMO!

Anyways, rant over :D

Very good points imo Magooch. I especially don't like the algorithm stuff. I'd prefer them not to tell me what I'm gonna like. I'll ask if I want to trim it down. Especially, for instance, I don't want to read only people that agree with me. How do you learn what's going on? Although on this forum I prefer to be agreed with.

Man, didn't they just improve their stadium?
No......did work and......sigggghhhhhh.
Just look at it. I know there's been a lot of UFO disclosure talk, but the ship landed 20 years ago when they built this monstrosity......Pillars outside....
Bunch's bums.
Sounds like Milwaukee in all aspects, esp “suburb of Chicago”.

Well the Giants play in Jersey, so there’s precedent.

Not sure why they don’t build at the now defunct Arlington race track. Seems perfect.

All that history on social media forums had to have worn you to a frazzle. I hope you have been able to rehab with something rudimentary and .
