Interesting that San Diego would franchise Sproles. Sounds like they are ready to move on without LT with a possible trade.

If it felt like franchise tags were flying at an unprecedented pace this year, it’s because they were.

In the 17 years of free agency, the most players ever to be franchised in one offseason was 11, which happened in 2005 and 2008. But this year, a whopping 14 teams used their franchise tag — and that number might have been higher had some last-minute, long-term deals not been worked out.

Here are the fine 14:

S Oshiomogho Atogwe — Rams

WR Antonio Bryant — Buccaneers

QB Matt Cassel – Patriots

LB Karlos Dansby — Cardinals

K Shayne Graham — Bengals

LB Leroy Hill — Seahawks

RB Brandon Jacobs — Giants

P Michael Koenen — Falcons

DE Julius Peppers — Panthers

CB Dunta Robinson — Texans

TE Bo Scaife – Titans

RB Darren Sproles — Chargers

T Max Starks — Steelers

LB Terrell Suggs — Ravens

No kiddin'.... Did you see the dollar amounts for the top five on NFL Channel, yesterday? Several of those guys wont be going anywhere, for that kinda money. Last I heard, we are in a recession. Ticket prices aren't being raised, rather at least one Team is lowering their prices and others are holding what they have.

If the Pack were grab any one of these guys, who would you take? Starks? Suggs? Dansby? If we take one of the latter two, then someone would be gone from the current Roster. If it were Starks, is that the end for Tauscher?

Word is Peppers wants to go play for Dallas, as does Ray Lewis. If you're gonna grab an FA, I would hold the line at 4 years in the League unless they happen to be extremely spectacular and certainly nothing past 7 seasons. Jason Taylor went from Miami to Washington and had what happen? It's never a sure thing.
