Good stuff
I’m wondering more and more if we aren’t attempting to trade Elgton. Just a gut feeling.
I'm leaning that way, too. Even if you add a year at vet minimum his cap #'s would be over $14mil/yr. I'm sure he's not looking for a vet min. extension so his cost far exceeds his value. He's still a very good player, but highly doubt Gute wants to hitch his wagon to Jenkins thru '27.

I noticed they designated Elgton on the Non football Wallet Injury List to buy time. He might’ve played his cards right after all. Meaning they might give him an extension after all. My guess is it’s not earth shattering or record breaking, but appeasing by adding another year of guaranteed etc.

Everything evolves, nothing contract wise across any industry doesn’t change. I understand folks feel they’re spoiled or overpaid and should shut up and just accept the same contracts from ten years ago - but just not reality to how contract negotiations work.

Here's Belton's contract.

They get the higher of their 2023/2024 average contract guaranteed slated at their draft order + 5% or a 15% increase off that guaranteed if signed before training camp.
Not sure where you’re getting this.
I never said he shouldn’t get a raise? I also never said contracts shouldn’t change? I said after consideration, the counteroffer should his former guaranteed by draft placing and adjusted upwards by 5% increase later OR 15% if he signs before training camp to create some urgency (this one came in at just over 16% increase off 2024) Big difference between me disagreeing with the AMOUNT of the offer and you somehow suggesting that I’m negating it altogether. I just don’t believe in crumbling to player demands and apparently neither did our FO thank you God.
You’re right though, I don’t know everything about contracts, but I know people I study them for a living and I sit across a desk and consummate contracts. So I know enough to understand why finding an area where both parties win is the objective
