I can guarantee you that if Curly Lambeau was offered $188M to move to Dallas and start an NFL team there instead of Green Bay, he would be on the next train with a stettson and new boots within the hour.

Well shit man.....grab your horses and buggy, I'll grab some shovels. We can split the loot!

Not far off from.what we just gave up since we kinda fleeced Dallas here. FYI though this is an extension so he'll be 30 when he enters his final year.
Good point! Even better our average over 5 seasons is $41.9Mil!
Let’s just say he turns 30yrs old during Camp. I’m really more curious what you would guess Micah Parsons draft collateral looks like. Assume he has 1 year left on contract

We know what Adams deal got us. He was the highest paid non QB when traded by GB.

Jesus christ do you really want me to go on to list every big contract handed out that teams didn't regret?

We are going to be here a while.(Just like cherry picking every bad contract would take a lot of time). Doesn't change you should invest in young great players

You've been cherry picking and then end with "nice try" when called out for it but continue on with continually pointing to Bahks contract

If never paying a young All Pro top dollar is a smart idea to you then have it. It's definitely an idea

Go for it man. I love a good debate. How is me showing your examples aren't solid ones? You want me to just say "oh dude, man you nailed it, signing Parsons is just like signing Ramsey and Reggie!"

Again for like the 20th time on this forum. I love getting Parsons and I think he is a solid player. I just don't what the Packers invested in him on a long term basis. Yes, if the stars align, he stays healthy and productive, the gamble could pay off.

Oh and please, just call me "Poker", I put my pants on one leg at a time just like you.

If we are making a superbowl run; I can't see us trading players that will likely help us get there. That would include Doubs, Q and Walker.
Yeah with this Parsons deal, I don't see how they can keep these three. They aren't worth much in a trade now. If they have big seasons, their FA stock goes up. Morgan can probably replace Walker. But they'd only get comps picks for Q and Doubs.

Now if the play of Q is elevated by Parsons, the Packers will try to keep Q. But assuming they want Rhyan back- well again they risk losing all 3 because the money/cap isn't there.

I thought Adams left in FA. He wasn't traded.

Showing Bahks extension isnt a good example because of his age and was starting decline

But hey if you want other examples of ok. Was it a bad idea for Chiefs to pay Jones top dollar? Aaron Donald was the highest paid player every time he put ink to paper. (We really coupd just go to any SB or Conference championship participant and look at whoever was top 5 paid at their position if we really wanted to dive into it)

Yes bad examples exist but come on man. Point out the risks sure but never pay a young All Pro top dollar? Your better then that.

I'm only talking this year since everyone is so gung ho on trading. Plenty time to think about these things after this year. Especially since we would not get worth it compensation NOW. At least imho

Now if we really wanna macro this we did also just cost Detroit like an extra 10 mill per cause if you dont think Hutch is resetting the market again very soon I got some property to sell you.

His agent is doing backflips

Ok, kiddo. Keep thinking I hate Matt LaFleur, and that his job is safe no matter what.

Gute also is not the one that decides Matt's fate. Ed Policy makes those decisions. Hence, why Ed has not yet extended the contracts of Gute and Matt. They both could be gone next season, up to Ed Policy.

Well, Junior... generally speaking the GM hires and fires coaches with the president's input. The president fires and hires the GM.

To make the claim that if we don't win the superbowl this year means MLF would likely be fired is just ridiculous. New coach means starting over. Unless the team fails to make the playoffs multiple years his job is safe.

In the past, everytime when we have been "in the conversation" to add a great player, via trade or FA, it's "we won't pay him" or "yeah, we are always in the conversation, but we never get the player". For at least a week, we were in the "Conversation", and yesterday, we came out on top, and added an elite player. Now people are pissed because of what we gave up, or the size of the contract. I couldn't give too $hits about the contract, or the Draft Picks right now. The cap is the cap, it goes up every year and is munipulated by every team with void years, pushing $$ out to future years, etc. so they can sign players. The Packers "will" find ways to sign guys, and they "will" also cut guys to do it, we do it every year.

We haven't won a Super Bowl since 2010, adding Parsons gives us a better chance to get there. I'm tired of losing in the NFC Championship Game, or the Wild Card round every year, and hearing "Well, hopefully we will do it next year". I want our team to try and do/be better, I love that we are all in, and that's what this acquisition is all about. If we don't make it to the promised land, it will be disappointing, but at least we finally shot our shot, and took the chance for once.

Be Happy, "You" and "I" have no control over what the Packers do, so try to enjoy the ride...I know that's what I'm going to try to do. This is the biggest trade to acquire an elite player that we ever did, this is new territory for us. Prior to this, we were always on the otherside of it ( Favre, Rodgers, Adams), and I like the taste of this much better.

Yes. Though I have to admit. I never enjoy the ride unless we have a good season. But I don't agree with some about the past two years. We have been very good. Not underachieving. If we can stop the run as well as last year; we are going to be very tough to beat. And my feeling is that we will.

Why wouldn't Bahk be part of the conversation? The Packers gave him a huge contract, with a ton of it guaranteed. It didn't work out. If his age was a factor and his play, as you say, was on the decline, why was he given all that money? Fortunately, the Packers didn't give up high draft picks to obtain Bahk.

Jones? What did the Chiefs initially invest in him? Pick #37. His contracts have worked out well for the Chiefs. It has also helped that Jones has been a virtual iron man, only missing 7 games in his 9 year career.

There are plenty of players that play past 33 and plenty of players that don't play past 26. So as you say, you can't cherry pick, but have to look at what can happen and does. I hope Parsons plays at a pro bowl level and is healthy for his entire time in Green Bay. However, there is a risk that he doesn't fulfill both of those things, health and good play.

My main point is not really about Micah Parsons, but more about investing as much as the Packers just did in 1 player.

Here's an interesting article in relationship to the cap for this year and next year, and how it will effect the team when it comes to money available for salaries.

I seriously have to ask. Why the silly name-calling all the time? It makes you look childish.

I'm sure Joe will tell you himself, but in case he misses this post. He has always called him "Gluten" and I don't think it is out of disrespect. I take it the same way as me just calling him "Gute". Kind of like Bahk, I always spell the full last name wrong.
