Gute just signed his walking papers.

If it costs what has been predicted in draft picks AND you have to pay him $40M+ per year, dumb.
Wow
Well we do recoup $21mil yearly 2026-2027 with Clark.

I feel like my wife just stole me credit card and I can’t find her

Clark was our one bona-fide run stopper the last 8 seasons. This changes opponents game plans. I expect the Lions to use their strong run game more against us and try to stay out of 2nd or 3rd and long. Then they will use play action. Other teams will follow suit.
Clark was never given the respect he deserved in GB. They'll see what he did for us when everyone on defense takes a step back without Clark keeping the middle of the line busy ...

I'm just sick about this move. Way too many eggs in one basket. Especially when Parsons has a "sore back"

How so? LVN is very much in the mix as he won’t be up until the time you vacate Gary depending…I don’t think that plan changed.
I agree, especially as you pointed out...Parsons lined up at Linebacker quite a bit

Bears traded for Khalik Mack in 2018 and won seven more games that season. So, based on that completely accurate and unimpeachable analogy, I’m predicting the packers go 18-0 this season over the course of the 17 game regular season (they’ll beat the Bears so bad the Bears will give the Packers one of their wins).
Love is better than Trubisky. lol

Some of that sore back is a sore ego from not getting the $$. Players have a habit of extenuating illness and injury when they want to be traded. E.G. Mike McKenzie 2004.

No we pay Clark but scrape $3mil now
Next season 2026-2027 his contract goes away. That’s 50% of Pardons contract paid. Obviously we pay Clarks replacement
That's not what was mentioned earlier in this post by someone. I'm curious what the dead cap from Clark will be in 26-27? Because that's a big part of my unhappiness.

Not having a 1st round picks until 2028 is not wise either. This is the type of stupid *** trade that makes historically ****** teams, stay ******.

Reminds me of them cutting Perry(former 1st rounder?) and the one guy who very much was over achieving at olb. Can't remember his name, but he had like 10 sacks that year. spending all our salary cap we saved up on the smiths, and then spending all our saved up draft capital to trade up for Gary, AFTER we just spent a massive fortune on the smiths. Knowing Gary won't even play for , how long?
That draft, we had a chit load of cap space, and a chit load of draft capital. And we spent it ALL on upgrading 2 OLB positions, and a bench player. The smiths turned out good and stayed healthy. Gary turned out to be a stud. Perry and the other guy exited the league soon after. So that insane day turned out semi decent. Hopefully Parsons makes this deal similarly decent. But the odds are not in our favor. Too many eggs in one basket. Parsons in not prime jj watt. He's not destroying defenses single handedly and getting 20 sacks still like watt was....

Ugh. I'm pissed. All the players we collected. We won't be able to keep half of them. We won't be able to pick up any good free agents won't be able to draft 1st round replacements..... And on top of that, we lost Clark, our anchor.... And a damn good one at that.

Let's hope so. Claiming a sore back doesn't help in negotiating a huge deal. That's not logical.

I for one know just how good Parsons HAS played in the past. He HAS been a GREAT player. That said, there is no guarantee that you get the same player, nor the same health. Meanwhile, you have locked up a guaranteed ton of cap, as well as mortgaged your draft stock for 2 years. I won't even mention throwing Kenny Clark into the deal, since Kenny could also get hurt or play worse than his last 2 average years.

Set aside the money, the picks, and Kenny Clarke. Had Parson been a Packer all this time and wanted the kind of money they just gave him, I wouldn't have been very excited a
Relax. Come off the ledge. My God.

Yep. Gluten was serious when he said this was the year to make a serious run at a SB. His hands were tied as far as defense in the draft and FA, and he had too much to do with the offense.

I don’t mind what was given to get Parsons. I was a little surprised at the contract, compared to Watt and Garrett. But Parsons is 26. Regardless, Gluten took advantage of an opportunity. He’s all in. Go big or go home.

Being an NFL Draft fan, this is going to sting a little in that aspect. However, I am more excited about the season right now, than I ever was before the trade. I want to thank Kenny Clark for his years of service, but this is a new year, with a new President in Policy, and Gute and Matt were seemingly getting to be put in the cross hairs of either just winning, or winning a Super Bowl. If it works out they will be Packer Gods... if not, they will be out of Green Bay. As for the Salary Cap, we will not be able to sign everyone, but we just gotta let it shake out. Russ Ball has always done a good job at figuring it out.

I looked up Clark's dead cap in 2026-27

2026 17mil dead, with 14 mils cap saved.
2027 7mil dead. With 20 mil cap saved.

So 24 mil dead ,and 34 mil towards Parsons salary.

This is a bad comparison. lol Devine gave up a hell of lot more for a washed up has been QB. Parsons isn't coming cheap but he's in his prime. Pash rushers of this caliber just don't get traded. Jerry Jones is a dope.

Hadl wasn't considered to be washed up at the time. Nor did he come with a huge guaranteed salary price tag like that of Parsons.

Yeah they gave him a huge deal, I think way more than Garrett and Watt got.

Two firsts and Clark was a good deal. The money is just a lot. I’m not unhappy with the deal, but it needs to pay off this season with a SB.

The Packers needed to make this deal. Two late round picks and Clark is a good deal. It’s the money that’s troubling. But hey, that’s the NFL. And the guy is 26.
