Great start to the upcoming season. Near 100% attendance. Only player not there is due to a personal reason.

Love what Love had to say about attending:

"That’s just something that I’ve always done, trying to be here, get the reps in, get the work in with the guys and just start building that chemistry and getting ready for the season.”

Setting such a great example and leadership we haven't had in GB for the last few years. Some made excuses for Rodgers, but not attending has an effect.

From the few clips released:

Jaire looked great and was running a drill with McKinney

Reed look so fast and smooth and perfect throw by Love.

Watson was shown doing a short route.

Sounds like Morgan was at RT - Tom is out with Pec injury, and I am sure that influenced that. He will be back for opener, but I think that means he won't be switching positions as he would have enough reps under his belt.

Which sounded more to me like he didn't know what was going on and his agent was doing the negotiations. That he is focusing on football and not money.

But there could be another quote out there.

I didn't see that full qoute in the article I read Amish, and I can't find it now. I would think that Love would want to cover himself in case of injury. But it is probably him holding things up and respect to waiting to see what everyone else is getting

Love is sure saying and doing all the right things. He's 25 years old, it would be really easy at that age to get frustrated, to see the massive contracts handed out in the last 12 months to other QB's and be sour about it. He has a good perspective and can clearly see the big picture / long game. I read the Athletic and his contract comes up often, it's an overwhelming consensus it'll get done and it'll work for both sides, it just needs to go through the process. In the meantime, really pleased with the leadership Love is showing. Not surprised but pleased for sure.

In the meantime, really pleased with the leadership Love is showing. Not surprised but pleased for sure.

So is Lafleur. I saw a press conference on NFL Network just last night where he made not just one but several comments about what a huge difference it is to have a quarterback who actually shows up for the optional workouts to help the whole team get off to the best possible start - how nice it is to have that kind of quarterback for a change, with that kind of leadership. How much better the team will be because of it.

He didn't pull any punches; obviously stopped short of saying "yeah, I'm talkin' bout you, Aaron Rodgers", but there was no doubt what he was saying. Also pointed out that Love made it a point to text most (if not all) of the draft choices shortly after they were announced, welcoming them to Green Bay. In fairness, it sounded like he said Rodgers used to do the same thing, but he said the rookies in camp were really impressed that one of the first people they heard from in the whole organization was the star quarterback - even defensive players; not just the other guys on the offense.

I'm sure things like this are not going unnoticed in the contract negotiations, either. Lafleur's just crazy about the guy; head over heels for him.

Both Favre and Rodgers seemed to succumb to the ego in the second half of their careers. By that time, they each had a Super Bowl ring though. Ego or not, hopefully Love can get a ring or more in the first half of his career.

Good point. I get that these guys live lavish lifestyles, but they're still athletes and need to workout all year. So the partying is certainly there, but not at the Johnny Manziel level. We saw how that worked out.

Regardless of where a guy is in his career, I think he would always want to be there with his team. Is it so hard to give up a few weeks and go to GB for some relatively easy work? A leader is a leader and does what it takes. I'd be interested to know how Tom Brady handled these very early sessions. Did he attend? I really don't know.

I remember that being mentioned as a topic of discussion after Rodgers skipped OTA’s just a couple seasons ago.

For me personally the willingness to show or not show is more situational. One could argue had #12 had better timing there’s a realistic probability we win 1 more game. Aaron Rodgers last throw in a GB uniform was to a Rookie Wideout for an INT. I’d argue that 0.1-0.2 seconds better timing likely scores us a TD in week 18. Instead it got us an INT an early exit and likely was the catalyst for sending #12 packing.

Skip OTA’s is fine. The result of Finishing that season below .500 and with an INT is unacceptable

OTAs are such a small investment of time, and every year there are rookies and other new players. If a team is lucky or good enough to have an elite QB, that guy is the leader of the team. I just think it shows some class and teamwork to show up. These guys retire around 40 very wealthy. They have plenty of time to do whatever they want then.

I highly doubt skipped OTA's had that much of a result in timing in week 20 or 21 of the season. Early in the year? Yeah. Shouldn't be an issue any longer at that point, though.
