since minnesota has the division locked up basically. if green bay has a better record than the division winner of whoever we play in the playoffs. do we play in lambeau or the divisional winners stadium?

Hi everyone, new on the forum, but a Packer fan for 30 years or so.

My understanding of the situation is that the division winners are seeded from 1 to 4 and the two wild card teams are seeded 5 and 6. Seeds 1 and 2 get the bye week and seeds 3 and 4 host the wild card teams (#3 hosting #6 and #4 hosting #5).

If I'm right then we would only play at Lambeau if, after winning our first game we are facing a team with a worse record. Best thing would be to win the division, but that is not looking probable at the moment.

I would be quite happy to be corrected on this as a home game would be preferable of course!

I believe the higher seed always gets the home game, regardless of record. For instance, last year, Arizona as the 4 seed played at home against the Eagles (6 seed)in the Conference championship game, even though Philly had a better record.

Divison winners always have home field against a wildcard. The only way Green Bay can have playoff game at home is if the other wild card team (6th seed) wins and both meet in the NFC Championship game.

As a wild card you are on the road in the playoffs, just like the NY Giants in 2007.

Pretty simple:

All the division leaders play at home;

The two best take a break the first round.

The two worst play, at home, against the 2 better non-division leaders. The 3rd best division leader takes the worst of the two, and the 4th takes the best. (3rd x 6th and 4th x 5th.)

The worst team from the wildcard (the winner from the 3rd x 6th and 4th x 5th games) takes the best division leader, and the best team from the wildcard takes the second best division leader.

Example: If the 5th wins from the 4th, and the 3rd wins from the 6th, the 5th plays the 1st at 1st home, and the 3rd plays 2nd at 2nd home.

Example 2: If the 5th wins from the 4th, and the 6th wins from the 3rd, the 6th plays the 1st at 1st home, and the 5th plays the 2nd at 2nd home.

So, in essence, the only way we play a home game is if we finish 5th, win the wildcard, the divisional round, and the 6th (the NFC East team that qualifies but doesn't win the division) also wins the wildcard and the divisional round.

Right now, we would have to win from Arizona, then beat either the Saints or the Vikings, at their home. Then, if it's Dallas, Dallas would have to beat Philadelphia, then Saints or Vikings, at their home.

That way, the NFC Championship game would be at Lambeau.

Yeah Green Bay's only chance to play at home would be to either win the division or face the other wild card in the NFC Championship. Looks like its gonna be a silent atmosphere in Lambeau for the time being.

how cool would it be to have a Lambeau game be our prelude into the superbowl though?

Should GB enter the playoffs as a WildCard (#5 seed) the only way GB hosts a home game is if both wildcards win 2 games(Wild card and Divisional Round) then the NFC Championship game would be in GB! Most likely scenario is 3 roadgames then on to Miami

There is hope. It has never happened before so someday.....
