Agreed. Ty mentioned Diggs' cap hit would be $15.5 mil next year. That will need to be redone. But if Diggs can return to early-career form, Gluten worked some magic. Maybe a highly incentive-based contract would work for all. And Parsons loves him.
I would bet that any reworked deal for Diggs would be an incentive-laden contract with few guarantees.

Even if Parsons did not get a sack he forced teams to revisit their game plan and he made QBs throw early or try to get out of Dodge.
Spot on. Opposing QBs were throwing quickly to avoid sacks. I'm surprised Hafley didn't play more press and jump a few routes - but that secondary, safeties aside - is just not good. And once Parsons was lost, the CBs were exposed as an average to below-average group.

But if/when Gluten beefs up the CBs (hopefully Diggs returns to early-career form), the secondary could afford to play more press on some passing downs. I've never been a fan of zone but it seems most teams use it.

Yep, and that will work out with the Packers already-strained cap next year.

After early-career success, Diggs needs a "prove it" year to get any kind of l.t. contract. He certainly will have the incentive to perform, and Parsons' backing.

Dallas seems to be a place where talented players go to stagnate or even regress. Diggs will find much more support and camaraderie in GB.

Mendoza looks very good
I watched some of the Rose Bowl. Mendoza was making NFL-like throws, very impressive. He's not very mobile, and that would be the biggest threat to his success in the NFL. He'll need a very good OL in front of him.

Yea as Malik Willis is going to be getting a bag of money from some team this off season.

I don't think Ridder will be QB2 to start next season, I don't think hes any good.
He has to be better than Tune you would think. I don't know what other options we have for QB2 next year. This isn't a great QB draft class and we have more pressing needs to fulfill seeing we don't have a 1st round pick this spring.

Agree on all Z. I just hope the queens aren't tempted to dump JJM and pick up Willis on a one-year deal for $15 mil or so. I'd much rather he goes back to the AFC.

I think Willis should go for a one year deal to set his real value. Right now he could probably get a 3 year, $60 mil total deal. But it looks like he's worth a lot more. He seems confident enough to roll the dice.
After drafting JJM so high you have to think MN isn't going to give up on him quite yet. I too hope Willis goes back to the AFC.

Well he wasn’t a OT. Cole is a guard for them and was for us as well. He didn’t even hardly play for them for two years and wasn’t until last year did he get starting time and ran with it.

He is a great reminder that a player truly can look to be dead in the water and for over three years and then click.
Actually Milani was correct, Cole was paid as a Tackle. He had 489 snaps at Tackle (primarily LT) 119 at Guard and 24 snaps at TE (likely as a 6th OL)
I didn’t look that up to be annoying, but I began to doubt myself on the accuracy of the article I read and posted here earlier regarding his contract at LT. The $$ didn’t sound right

He was already on the team, and Parsons weighed in with how happy he was to see former Dallas teammate Diggs with the Packers.

Parsons loves the guy... as soon as he signed, Micah was on his cellphone, and Diggs asked him about finding a living situation. Parsons said, "what living situation? you're living with me!" Diggs was "oh, wow; thanks!" and then asked him about finding transportation options in such a small town.

Parsons said, "well you're using one of my cars. you're covered, bro!"

Amen. You reminded me that earlier this season the Parsons + Gary combo started in near record fashion at Sacks. A big part of the reason they both fell off their Sack trajectory is exactly this post.

If that’s right I apologize but everything I found stated he’s their guard. Those figures from this year or last?

No reason to give up on him. And no reason not to bring someone else in. They aren't paying a QB yet after all.
Yeah that's a good point. JJM started to play better down the stretch. The queens will give him another year.

As for Willis' destination - look at any of the top 2 or 3 teams in the draft order. They are likely candidates for a guy like Willis, and could then trade their pick for a bounty. Although Mendoza from Indiana looks like he's NFL-ready. We've seen that movie......

If I were the GM in Vegas, I'd sign Willis and trade the #1 pick for a haul. Just my take - and probably another good example of "first thought wrong".

Thanks OS. I know age is setting in, but my memory is one part of my body that has not yet fallen apart.

When you look at his snap counts...he's been everywhere for them...which makes more sense now to that figure not being premium tackle money but above some guard money...

2024
62 snaps at RT
190 snaps at LT

2025
82 at RG
90 at LG
327 at LT
133 at RT

He only had 53 total snaps in 2023 and 18 in 2022 for Jax so didn't care to add.

Spotrac lists his contract information and puts guard - zero clue where or how they pull that.

But his yearly average for this deal is $17M/Year which would put him as the 13th highest paid guard on a per year basis....and outside the top 40 if looking at also tackles with guards.

If he is the guy they have gotten majority of this year (who still missed multiple games) it's a steal of a deal. If he is the player he has been prior to this year in four seasons....THEY OVERPAID MASSIVELY.

Yeah although I didn't think Gary played well with Parsons added. Gary, LVN, and others should have seen their sack count go up before Parsons' injury. Generally speaking, I don't think that happened, although LVN has missed at least 4 games, maybe more.

But Gary's lack of production isn't explained easily, IMO. Seems a given he won't be back next year.

At CB and DT/DE, Gluten has some significant personnel decisions to make this offseason. No first round picks this year and next either. (Well, the Parsons trade still weighed heavily in GB's favor.)

Oh no reason to apologize it’s a minor thing. I too think of Cole as more a Prototype Guard myself. Plus, look how often to today’s OL switch positions.
Interesting Spotrac has him listed as a guard when most of his snaps were at LT and RT. Like Ty indicated, not much to back up calling him a G ahead of T.

Yeah the warm welcome Diggs got from Parsons means a lot. It is also another indictment (probably) of personnel mismanagement in Dallas. What else is new?

Hopefully Diggs re-invents himself in GB - back to his early-career productivity at CB.

Yes. Often the more accurate evaluation on a player is smack dab in between his worst season and his best season.
My guess is Diggs is along the lines of an Eric Stokes player, but with slightly elevated Pass Defenses due to his formidable size, plus possibly a pair of INT across a year. His PD numbers are near 1 per game across his career which is an elite level. Thats 1 area he’s more consistently good.

All that said I’ll feel better once I’ve seen Trevon string together a good two or three games. To signify he’s past some injury concerns.
