Apparently I missed all of this news, and didn't see it posted anywhere here:

Trevon Diggs:

Signing Diggs costs us $500k but could be the shot in the arm our defense needs heading into the playoffs. There is no question in my mind that he will play against the Vikings. He needs experience in the system to be effective in next week's playoff game. What better opportunity than in a lame duck game with no expectations.

Jonathan Ford:

Ford was with Green Bay last year until the Bears poached him off of our practice squad in December. He played sparingly for Chicago this season and then was just cut to make room on the roster. Ford knows Hafely's system and can help stop the run. This was a smart move that probably won't move the needle, but who knows. He could be the next Howard Green for a SB run.

Desmond Ridder:

Ridder has experience as a starter for the Falcons. He's not anything good, but I assume this is a one week signing in case Al Tune goes down with an injury in the Vikings game. He's cannon fodder.

Here is a list of all of the roster moves (quite a few) that Green Bay did this week, including sending Nate Hobbs and others to IR:

Missing all the news is not necessarily a bad thing. What would have been most intriguing is if you had not learned about it and then watched the game Sunday. " Where did these guys come from? "

Actually Love is reported as backing up Tune this week. I’ve been reading that Ridder is likely our attempt at a jump start at QB2 for 2026.

That's interesting. The Packers have typically used a late round draft pick on a backup, or adding someone from another team's PS - well I think. Willis arrived via trade with TN.

With Willis leaving next season, it's not a bad idea to get someone like Ridder who has at least played some in the NFL. The game today with the queens will be important for Tune to show what he can do. MLF had good things to say about him. We'll see. At least it's a reason to watch the game, although not a very good reason.

You're not alone EG. I missed the addition of T Diggs. Initially I thought comments were about whether he would fit on the Packers. He was already on the team, and Parsons weighed in with how happy he was to see former Dallas teammate Diggs with the Packers.

Diggs certainly started out fast with the Cowboys. Seems like his career has stalled since so Dallas waived him. The way JJ mismanages players, this might be a v good thing, although I'm a little surprised another team didn't claim him.

Yea as Malik Willis is going to be getting a bag of money from some team this off season.

I don't think Ridder will be QB2 to start next season, I don't think hes any good.

Tennessee didn’t think Malik was good…and a slew of fans/pundits as well.

And we did not think much of the OT that just signed for 51 mill in Jacksonville.
Well he wasn’t a OT. Cole is a guard for them and was for us as well. He didn’t even hardly play for them for two years and wasn’t until last year did he get starting time and ran with it.

He is a great reminder that a player truly can look to be dead in the water and for over three years and then click.

When was the last time the Packers paid $51 mill for a guard?

We probably didn't want him cause he couldn't play gyard and tackle. Whuch is really dumb.

Not true. If you put yourself back at that time which we traded him, there really wasn't a spot. Now if we knew with some kind of crystal ball that Bakh was going to have issues and Newman's Rookie year was an anomaly you keep Cole...but no clue if he does well here. He barely did anything in Jax for two years after we traded him.

Agree on all Z. I just hope the queens aren't tempted to dump JJM and pick up Willis on a one-year deal for $15 mil or so. I'd much rather he goes back to the AFC.

I think Willis should go for a one year deal to set his real value. Right now he could probably get a 3 year, $60 mil total deal. But it looks like he's worth a lot more. He seems confident enough to roll the dice.

Sounds like Raider possibilities.

Agreed. Willis would be the Raiders starting QB, and they can trade the #1 pick for a bounty of picks/players.

I think this is better than taking the most likely suspect, Indiana's Mendoza, with the first pick. The Raiders truly need a rebuild, and they could do a lot worse than getting Malik and a bunch of draft capital/players for the #1 pick.

It's amazing what a change of scenery can do.

Hoping the Diggs acquisition plays out this way. He seemed to play well yesterday, but will find out more in training camp. It looks like he's worth hanging onto.

Any idea how much time is left on his current contract?

We inherited his contract, which is actually controlled for three seasons more (2026, 2027 and 2028). However, the hit to us next year without a rework is $15.5M - which if he shows he can be one of our outside CB isn't crazy figure, but he has to be better than he's been of recent years.

He’s contracted thru 2028 currently but I’m sure we’d want to redo that if we’re thinking to keep long term

Thanks for the info. Well, at least the Packers control whether Diggs stays or goes somewhere else. Right now, his contract looks expensive, so it will be reworked. A $15.5 mil cap hit is too high for a guy who has been underperforming. On the plus side, he has Parsons endorsement. That's a good thing.

Diggs looked pretty good yesterday, all things considered. Just not $15.5 mil good.

On to Chicago. If the Bears get Odunze back, the Packers will need to play well at CB. This is where Parsons is sorely missed. He made an average (at best) CB group a lot better.

Agreed. Ty mentioned Diggs' cap hit would be $15.5 mil next year. That will need to be redone. But if Diggs can return to early-career form, Gluten worked some magic. Maybe a highly incentive-based contract would work for all. And Parsons loves him.

Even if Parsons did not get a sack he forced teams to revisit their game plan and he made QBs throw early or try to get out of Dodge.

Mendoza looks very good
