I’m hoping Will Sheppard makes PS also. Really like his size and he has great balance and explosive traits. He’s 6’3” and jumped 40.5” vertical with a 10’6” Long Jump. I’ve seen him 1 hand a few balls, has good hands and ball tracking coordination.

Really no surprises yet to me....Simmons was one of my first three out though.

The first 20 or so seem to be pretty "easy". With the PS at 16, that means by Sept. the Packers will have 69 guys on their "roster". By my count, the Packers are down to 68 players + IPP. However, I think there are still guys getting cut that won't be brought back onto the Practice Squad. Gute will look at 31 other teams cuts and his own and that PS will probably have at least 2-4 new faces. The same can be said about the other 31 teams and there is no doubt that many of the guys that the Packers cut, will end up on another teams roster or PS.

That wouldn't be a surprise to me. Guessing that Lloyd starts the year on IR with the ability to be recalled, I think they get 2 of those spots. It will be Jacobs, Wilson and Brooks to start the season on the 53.

Nazir Stackhouse is the name I am watching for or at least, hoping not to see as cut.

I think he makes the 53.

Kamal Hadden and Kevin King are my watch guys. They both played well in that last Pre-season game.

I think King is a sure thing, but Hadden, is definitely on the Bubble. I remember seeing MLF run up to him (Hadden) on Sat. after he had made a nice play. Almost as to say "Dude, you just made the roster."

The fact that both of these guys probably make the roster, along with converted WR Bo Melton, kind of shows you the state of the Packers CB room.

As many of you know or remember, I have been a big supporter of Hadden, he was one of my guys in the 2024 Draft.

I think the most disappointing aspect of preseason for me was the WR group. I really expected some hardcore competition at the position, leaving Gute with some real tough choices today as to who to keep.

Combine lackluster performances with injuries and who knows, the Packers might be combing the waiver wire today to add different WR's to their PS. Maybe Sheppard, Johnson or Hicks get brought back, but meh.

Cut:

OL Kadeem Telfort
OL Tyler Cooper

Telfort is definitely a PS guy if he isn't picked up

Don't know if this belongs in this thread or it's own thread but I saw a couple guys released that I think can help this team. Mike Hilton and Eku Leota. Leota is out of Auburn and played like a long EDGE rusher, kinda like Enagbare and Zadarius Smith. I haven't seen him play enough for Pittsburgh to see why it didn't happen there. I'd like to see him get a look and maybe a roster spot. The other guy is Mike Hilton. I did get to see this guy a few years back when he was with Pittsburgh and I think he's a solid 4th 5th or 6th corner and probably better than what we currently have.

I was under the impression that for Lloyd to be able to be activated this season he has to be on the 53-man roster after today and then put on IR. I might be wrong there though. I thought that if you put someone on the list from training camp, they were ineligible for the entire year.

I thought that I read that you can now put 2 guys on IR with the designation to return, before the 53 deadline. Maybe I read it wrong, since what you stated were definitely the old rules.

Edit: Found this, it was enacted in 2024

By Competition Committee; amends Article XVII, Section 17.16(C), to permit each club to place a maximum of two players who are placed on an applicable Reserve List on the business day of the final roster reduction to be designated for return. Such players will immediately count as two of the club’s total designations.

I don't know how it works to be honest. The rules keep changing.

Yes. It's 2 prior to 53 that can be on the IR with designation to return. Can only do a maximum of 8 in a year to return so my guess is some of these guys won't be on the IR, but the Packers will bring up a couple guys from the practice squad to cover on game days for a few weeks. Can't see them doing 4-5 guys with designations to return right away.

PUP is for guys injured before camp that are still unable to physically perform

IR is for injuries sustained after the start and unless I have wrong updated rules, teams are allowed two IR guys that are designated to return.

PUP guys essentially have four weeks to start practicing and once they start practicing a day counter happens (21) before they have to be put on the 53, released or IR'd for season.
