Here’s another ray of sunshine: We aren’t Bears fans. I was listening to “Bears radio” after they got beat in OT by the Bills. Two old timers, Doug Buffone and Ed O’Obradovich host the show and they are an absolute hoot (without meaning to be) particularly after the Bears lose. One of the first things Ed said was, ‘I’d rather spend a weekend in jail than watch that game again!’ And Ed repeatedly called the Bills a ‘tomato (actually “tomata”) can’ - apparently the Bills have the worst road record in the history of mankind. One of 'em said 'the Bills couldn't play dead!!' If you need a laugh or to engage in some schadenfreude: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/show/doug-and-ob-post-game/#
Anybody thinking this Packers team will have a chance to beat the Seahawks during any point during this season is delusional IMO.
Shame on you captainWIMM! This is the Kool-aid thread – and not the 'let’s all commit suicide' kind! Remember what your Mom told you: ‘If you can’t say something nice… particularly on a kool-aide thread!’ Keep it up and demotion to lieutenant is right around the corner.:D

I watched the entire Bears/Bills game. A couple of notes:

The Bills are not a "tomata can". I could go on at some length why that is, but I doubt anybody wants to hear it. Suffice it to say, if Manual continues to play the way he did on Sunday, this is at least a 0.500 team.

As for the Bears, they lost their center early in the game, and a guard and Jeffery for about half the game. The D-line looks improved, but by and large they look like the same 0.500-ish Bears team we've seen in recent years. Cutler put up some yards, but under pressure he does the same old stuff...throws off his back foot into coverage. If there is one truism you can take the bank...you cannot fix a 30 year old QB.

Just like Woodson said a few years ago. "Same old Jay".

Sometimes the best point of reference are those without the emotional attachment. Living in Minnesota, I'm cursed to be around Vikings fans. However, almost every Vikings fan that I've talked with since Thursday has said that they have no doubt the Packers are still a good team and will likely win the division. So if fans of one of the spirit-depleting teams in the league, say that my Packers are still in good shape...I'll believe them.

I agree with this. This weekend, a Bears fan said that the only thing about the Packers loss is that the Packers are going to still be good and be fine this season. They always say that "you are your harshest critic." I suppose that applies to sports fans, too.

Anybody thinking this Packers team will have a chance to beat the Seahawks during any point during this season is delusional IMO.

There's a slim chance Pennel, Lattimore and Barrington could make a difference, but if they line up the same way as on Thursday Seattle will beat us every single time.

Come on WIMM you can't have it both ways, if there's a slim chance it's not delusion. I do agree that we need guys who didn't play to come in and play at levels that shouldn't be prudently expected of them.

Of course we also need players who played in that game to play better. Sherrod needs to find his feet quickly, Rodgers needs to knock the rust off, our interior O-line and TEs need to run block better, Nelson needs to catch that ball(on Rodgers too).

I didn't see Seattle making hair brained mistakes. I saw Green Bay players make a boatload on both sides of the ball.

Sam Shields turning his man loose even though Matthews had an angle on Wilson, Dix failing what should have been a routine tackle.

Sam Shields tipping up a sure fire pick 6.

Aaron Rodgers missing a number of easy throws, also what's up with the jump balls to Randall Cobb? He's just not a perimeter receiver.

Clay Matthews pursuing the running back from the backside and failing to account for Russell Wilson as the ball carrier, could have been an easy sack/tackle for loss.

Julius Peppers poor awareness for oustide contain throughout the game..

Jordy Nelson dropping and tipping up a difficult but very catchable ball.

Derek Sherrod forgetting his arms and hands leading to a sack fumble safety.

Even with our shaky run defense we might have been able to win that game with Aaron playing a better cleaner game, Sherrod not giving up a sack fumble, Nelson not bobbling that pick. I think when the players watch the film they won't be deflated but rather they'll realize that they could have done a lot more to help themselves in that game. I think in terms of scheme we can improve by A) firing a safety at Percy Harvin when he runs the motion B) using more of Randall Cobb in the backfield.

Also I think Seattle's offense should take a bit of a hit, Harvin won't stay healthy all season.

One more question, why the heck don't we run jet sweeps with Randall Cobb? IMHO he's every bit as dangerous as Percy Harvin and much more likely to last a season.

The Packers ace in the hole is playing in this division, with these immobile QBs. 10 wins oughta do it.

Anyone who mentions the Packers and making the Super Bowl this year is delusional. They have lost 6 in a row to SF and Seattle. That is not an accident but a king sized trend. Unless the team can somehow get much tougher they would lose another 6 in a row.
Every time I hear someone say this team is not tough I wish I could transport you to the locker room so you can tell it to their face. This is the NFL, these guys are as tough as it gets, they play their hearts out every game because if they don't they won't play for long. If you want to say they were outplayed, Ok, but please quit with this tough BS.

This game was very upsettting because we lost our confidence in the 2nd half. The first half I felt we were equal to them I dont know what changed in the 2nd half that we fell apart mistakes and big ones that is why we lost. The touch back is when things went south.
I don't think we lost confidence but you nailed it. What happened is you had a guy who hasn't played an NFL game in 3 years have to jump in in relief. Rodgers had no time for routes to develop after that. And we had effectively two rookies playing on the O line. We will get better.

There is a lot more respect for the Packers outside of the confines of this forum than there is here within. There are quite a few people posting here that have never seen their franchise mired in mediocrity or worse. It reminds me of when I used to visit the Ohio State fan board during the stretch about 12-15 years ago when they weren't dominating everybody.

I think it is a general depression after what people saw on Thursday. It`ll get better after Sunday (we hope !)

We weren't prepared either offensively or defensively, which is hard to understand. Our first scoring drive was a beauty, and that was it until garbage time. Harvin's first sweep had Peppers looking around, wondering where the ball was. We couldn't figure out Wilson's misdirection plays, either when he handed off or when he kept it. It reminded me of Wisconsin's defenses against the option in the 70s. Rogers was either just off, or he was rattled. I hope the former. We kept trying to run against 8 and 9 man fronts. One thing for sure: we'd better be much better the rest of the season with both coaching and playing--which I think we're capable of.

After having a sip of your potent koolaid, I've conjured up a koolaid induced possibility. The team spent more time preparing for division opponents soon to come and were looking past the Seahawks. :whistling:

After the Packers' demolition of the Panthers, it was a tough call whether to listen to the Packers or Bears post game coverage after their 27-14 home loss to the Dolphins. Schadenfreude won out (again) and I tuned into 670 AM. One of the first things O'Bradovich said, after crying about paying Cutler three trillion dollars was "We're the tomata can!! We're the tomata can!!" :roflmao:

we could beat this seahawks team now, I have no doubt about it

Some folks just dont see that the tides are turning in certain areas. When we took out loses to the 49ers, they were always healthy, we were dinged up pretty well and still held on for the most part. Week 1 both GB and SEA were both generally healthy but we played on the west coast in their house and got out played. As of late, the 9ers and the seacawks have delt with not only injury, but personnel changes and some drama. See how they are dealing with the adversity that they didnt have before? Not well. We know adversity and have had plenty of it in the recent past, so I think we know how to deal with it more so than some other teams. That is just my take. I think the saints are in an adversity shock and awe right now and I think we can and will end their home win streak. GPG!!

Having lived thru the period when the Pack couldn't knock out Dallas, I'm of the "I need to see it" crowd. I would certainly rather play them at home and yes, I would feel better about it right now than any time in recent years.

Regarding drinking the cool-aid... it's obvious from all of the previous posts in all of the various threads since this summer which guys are band wagon jumpers.
