Aaron Jones Should Take Over At RB Now

If this game is any future indicator, I say that we should go with Ty as 1a Jones as 1b and Rip as our 3rd back that gets snaps. Williams/Mays are relegated to special teams except for garbage snaps/injuries.

You basically just let Ty and #33 rotate every series/sub them in-and-out for breathers. Sprinkle in some 10/12/13/20/22 personnel looks for Rip and we're set. Jones has good hands as evidenced by the sideline catch he made today. I'll take whatever production I can get from the backfield TBH...

I don't see how you take Jones out. He has been good literally ever time he's been out there, be it preseason or regular. He just works with this offense.

I think Williams is thinking too much about ball security and not just letting himself run. But at this point, It's gotta be Jones and Monty if he gets healthy. If not, it's gotta be Jones and someone else. I hope he's in shape, because nobody else is running like him right now. When Monty is healthy he runs well too, but by game 2 he seemed done this year already. The burst was gone, he looked much slower than last year. He's Hopefully a split running load will keep them both effective and healthy. That would be good for everyone.

I think the Packers should wait and see how Jones performs against a decent NFL defense. I liked how he looked but I'm not going to take a ton away from his performance against a team with inside linebackers than the Packers and a poor dline.

Aaron Jones is our guy. I don't care what Captain says, if I was MM I'm sticking Montgomery back out wide and giving Aaron Jones and Ripkowski all the carries from here on out.

Jones definitely deserves to receive carries going forward but there's still absolutely no reason to move Montgomery back to wide receiver.

When looking at the highlight tapes from all three rookie RB's, I initially thought Aaron Jones was the most elusive back of the 3. I was surprised when I read that Jamal Williams got the #2 job. I was even more surprised when I saw the three play in preseason and Jones still did not get the job. I was even more surprised when I saw Williams do absolutely nothing in his limited week 1-4 carries. Excited to see the Packers with an elusive, shifty 3 down type back. Him and Monty should share time like they did with Starks and Lacey. This kid has the potential to give the Packers a new phase of the offense and ultimately keep Rodgers healthy.

When Ty comes back-88 gets 40%, 33 gets 40%, then 22/12/everyone else gets the remaining 20% of runs called (including scrambles).

Look, Aaron Jones was sensational in Dallas but to make him the #1 back and scale back Ty's touches drastically would feel like a demotion. Montgomery had big 100 yard rushing games last season btw, in case people forgot. The best way to go is to try to get Ty/AJ both about 15 touches a game via screens, routes out of the backfield/split out into the formation wide, and runs.

While they have similarities in abilities, they also have subtle style differences that can allow for MM to effectively utililize them both in a game from a play-calling standpoint.

Yikes, that's the same thing I said about our defense after the Seattle game and look how that turned out.

I have no documentation for this, but I work at a place where they record one of the many "Packer" shows, the guest last night was Aaron Jones. There were some rumors floating around that the Packers are sending Montgomery out east to see some specialist. I have no idea if that is significant or not, but the general sense going around was that there is more going on with Monty than had been released. Again.... this is not confirmed, but I found it interesting.

Montgomery has struggled early this season though averaging only 3.3 yards per carry.

I'm as excited as anyone to see a 100 yard performance, but by no means am I doing anything other than being patient and letting Ty and Jamaal heal.

It was reported that Williams had a knee sprain and they took an MRI 10 days earlier looking for ligament damage. That doesn't sound "Fully" healthy to me

Ty is still playing like a receiver back there so I'd say the difference is more blatant than subtle.

Personally you can beat it anyway with 2 back sets, but I think Ty is more suited as a passing option than a run up the middle or find the hole guy. Aaron Jones runs lower and has better finishes to his runs. He's our best RB and it's going to continue to show.

I'm assuming his point was that this performance could just be an anomaly, and Jones could be just as ineffective as Montgomery has been.

It may have been one game, but he looked as good as any running back we've had since Ryan Grant. He's earned the right to start the rest of the year as far as I'm concerned. Monty doesn't belong in the backfield; move him back to receiver. And Williams could be a very nice compliment.
