Apparently it was a pre-mature post that got deleted.

Regardless, I'm glad Gary is gone. Last year was mind-boggling bad from him, but I'll look back on him fondly as a Packer overall.

Demovsky is now reporting that Gary has not been told that he is being traded or released and his instagram was hacked :ninja:

Edit: with that being said I have no idea who would bother hacking someone's account only to post a completely vanilla farewell message.... I suspect "hacked" means "you weren't supposed to post this yet"

Yeah, I doubted that it was a "hack job" too. So many people have said that about posts that they regretted posting after the fact.

Lesson here: "Think before you post."

If I had to guess what the Gary situation involves is this. Packers approaching him and his agent about redoing his contract to keep him in GB. However, both Gary and agent not liking his "lessor worth" are saying "no thanks, release me."

Don't let anyone tell you that the NFL and NCAA football isn't ALL about the money, because it is. Gary already made bank by receiving all of his guaranteed money of $34,646,928, plus more, from the Packers. Gary will happily change cities and jerseys just to add more to his accumulated wealth. I saw that his career earnings to date with the Packers is $81M.

If Professional Sports, and the NCAA for that matter, don't find a way around so much guaranteed money, fans like myself will just walk away from it.

Not to hijack this thread, but the $$ grab won't stop anytime soon. The cap just increased over $22mil/team (7.9%). New TV deals are being worked out in '26 which could mean 7 or 8
DIFFERENT entities bidding to show games.

The value of Seahawks being sold could be between $9-$12 Billion. 1% of Dolphins just sold for $125mil, valuing the Dolphins at $12.5Billion. Just 3 years ago the Commanders/Redskins sold for $6Billion. Crazy $$ associated with the NFL & it's only getting crazier.

Oh I 1000% agree with you. As long as fans are willing to keep paying the price, the NFL, NCAA and other sports will continue to print their own money.

I also think that guaranteed money has done nothing but decrease the ability for teams to put better rosters together. What does that do for us fans? It decreases the quality of the product that we are seeing. Why? Because there is so much money/cap wasted on bad contracts, that teams are not able to better fill positions/depth with need.

Packers have traded defensive tackle Colby Wooden for former Indianapolis Colts off-ball linebacker Zaire Franklin.

Presuming Walker is gone to FA, Franklin in a trade; hard to figure letting a 128 tackle guy go to FA and replace him with a 50 tackle guy... (Yeah, I get the money thing; that is what happens when you give a QB a large portion of your budget) but, it is what it is and will be. Will be interesting to see how long it takes the Pack to figure out their new D scheme(s).

It could be just not wanting to use a draft pick on a linebacker this year

So he misses tackles and is awful at coverage... meh.

You can't spend everywhere. Cooper is going to get paid, which is fine to me for a off ball LB. Keep investing in D-line. Wooden is replaceable.

Last year.

Zero guarantees left on his contract, we may even see it get reworked.

Wooden was not part of the future.

Quay and us cannot get together on a number to agree on.

So you go get a guy that had two amazing season and then a bad one this past year.

Worst case he’s your first man up, best case he is his 2024 version which is a starter for sure.

Ya, I get it. I'll buy low and hope he plays closer to his better years. Takes LB off the needs list, allows us to upgrade at DT more. It's fine.

What's the point of getting Parsons of every other move since then has not done anything to win a championship this year?

So far GB is under the Cap, though not by a lot when you add in the upcoming draft picks. Problem I see is they have done little to improve the OL, subtraction without addition is an issue; and after an article referencing Brian Beluga comments, if GB "runs it (OL) back to last year they are in trouble"- the OL was not very good. As for DL and CB, if GB is focused on improving through the draft then it is an exercise in "hope" that the guys they get will develop quickly and be able to play at a high level; not typical unless you are a top 100 caliber player. GB put themselves in this bind by giving Love a contract that frankly is not in line with W-L performance to date, the Parsons deal needed to be done but they better come up with help on the front Dline because what they have next to him does not appear to be a concern for opponents. Other contracts for last years FA's resulted in Fair at best results. Know it is early but Chi has improved through trades, has cap space and picks, that is who GB is chasing- the rest of the NFC top teams have also improved and that does not bode well for the 26 version of GB IMO.

If you judge a player's contract by the team's W and L that is where you lose me. Love has absolutely played like one of the best QBs in the league and was given market level contract for a franchise QB.

Bears....lost their starting center and then signed one...

They lost Tremaine Edwards, Dom Robinson and Olamide Zaccheaus...

They've added S Coby Bryant, DL Neville Gallimore, Case Keenum and Braxton Jones....two of these guys were their own dudes from last year.

I don't see your claim made...

They also no longer have Moore there either. Kevin Byard and Brisker both are said to likely not be going to get signed.

Nashon Wright CB is rumored to be pricing out higher than they'll do as well.

He was really good prior to 2025. I really doubt he just suddenly forgot how to play football overnight. Playing hurt or new scheme that wasn’t a good fit for him, maybe?

The Packers are obviously betting on 2025 being the aberration. I think it’s the better move than paying Walker what he got.

Yeah I think worst case you have a very solid first man up and McDuffie sees the field a lot - which surprisingly has played well for us. Best case though his athletic profile and play is like he was before 2025.

Love the St Juste signing so much more than I liked the Hobbs deal.

Hobbs I loved as a player but not a fit for us since we had Bullard and I didn't like the idea of trying to have him play outside. Now if we do a lot of Dime packages I really like him and Bull out there together.
