Poppa asked if I'd start a new thread as the one I was using had a whole 50 pages worth of 2025 discussions and it likely will confuse folks.

So like normal this will be the 2026 thread tracking and following the roster developments. I try to update this at worst weekly, but during Free Agency I almost always will update it immediately as confirmation happens. In season tracking of signings (both PS and 53) will be tracked as well.

My guess is in the 4yrX$48 ballpark or similar to Hobbs

My personal belief is he’s a closer to a $9mil year producer. Just imo. Like I’d offer him a 3yrX$25mil and inch it to $28mil then I’d bail out above that.

To be fair, most guys in the new wave of FA signings make about 20% more than what most think they're worth. It's the nature of escalating contracts. I do think a 4/48 or 4/50 is his top with 4/40 his likely lowest contract - and it isn't because I think he should be worth that, it simply is that he is in this league right now.

Oh yeah it always surprises me how these guys get paid. It’s whatever a team will do to land Quay if they think he’s an ideal fit. It’s just my opinion but once you sniff $10mil per year there’s lots of options at Off Ball LB. Heck I’m not sure he’d bail but Eric Wilson played fantastic last year. Really outplayed Quay Walker and he cost $2.6Mil.

Sooo Pass on Al Harris for D coordinator, and hire the fired Cardinals coach, pass 3 seasons 15-36 record so why not have given AL a shot? Who knows could have brought some much needed toughness too the D. Imo

Actually dig into what Gannon has done, especially in a **** situation like Arizona was.

This past season they had over $125+ million contracts on IR - it was the highest IR in the league.

Not really a fair comparison. Wilson will be 32 for the 2026 season. He's only getting 1 year deals from here on out.

The comparison wasn’t to show some long term 5 year roster strategy. The example was to show that you can build a Roster in a Win Now without blowing your entire checkbook.

Wilson is not the only FA Off ball linebacker in the league. If Q wants to get paid let him do it elsewhere. Past around $6-8Mil annual, I’d go after more pressing needs. We just drafted 2 LB’s in 2024-25 it’s time to test our drafting strategy. To replace them on Teams or as backups, there’s some really good LB’s RD4-7

Yeah I agree. I recall them and I believe SF49ersas the highest % of “impact” players out. Some others measure it in $$$.

As far as $$ lost to IR and to give some semblance of how Arizona faired compared to our own complaints about injury.

Arizona started 2-0. Then Until their Bye week in Week 8, across 5 losses their average points differential were -2.6 per loss. So just like our matchup with them they were very much in each game. At least until the injury list started climbing. By week 13 they were #2 most injured by impact player count. By close of season 1/2 of the roster was out.

Quay is a little special due to his measurables, which of course complicates things. He's probably top 5 there, but decidedly not top 5 in football intelligence. Having him out there helps cover up other stuff just by being fast. I struggle to put specific value on him due to the conflicting information.

If we are struggling to rearrange contracts to get out of negative for league thresholds allowed and in addition, trying to create $20mil to retain/resign 6-8 FA’s? $$10Mil is massive. Now maybe the contract is a little less or structured in a way it’s manageable at $5mil today, that’s why Russ gets paid the big $$

That could be said with temporary applause about virtually any player that was behind a pair of top 40 selections and an entrenched 5 year starter at LB. Especially on a team who makes you earn your way into starting lineup.

To me it's the incremental cost. Your range seems to be 7M-ish, you and I are maybe (as I said, I'm struggling to put my exact value on him. I'm throwing out 10M as it is a round number and isn't near the top) 3M apart. That's less huge.

Further, cutting Jenkins (all but assured before week 1 of 2025) and likely Gary frees 31M, give or take, in 2026.

As far as our own URFA, we only have 9. Exclude Diggs (probably not worth it), Willis (he's looking to be a starter), Doubs (I have to assume he's chasing a starting position and we have his likely replacement) and R. Walker (not that great and we have his replacement on the roster) we're down to 5.

The only three I'd actively look to keep are Quay (we don't really have his replacement on the roster), Rhyan (I actually like him, I know we disagree), and Enagbare (Gary's presumed departure creates a hole on the roster). SportTrac estimates their yearly averages at roughly 6, 7.5, and 8.2. Actual cap numbers are of course fuzzy depending on the structure.

It isn't fair, you're right. What is fair, to me, is who can't he beat out, does he get to play when injuries happen, and how does he play when given the chance.

To use Morgan as example, he's looked like he's worth at least trying him out based on how he's looked at tackle this year. No real reservations.

Hooper, I'm disappointed that he hasn't been able to overtake McDuffie--the man is smart as hell, but he's athletically limited. Maybe the pick against the Bears in the playoffs is the thing that pushes him forward, but again, I'd rather he push McDuffie down the depth chart.

His defenses have been solid even when crap rosters whether he is HC, DC or Defensive Back coach. He wasn't my first choice but im encouraged

I like Quay. I'm not the biggest fan, but I do like him on this team.

I would be utterly shocked if he wasn't on the team next year. They love him. You can tell by how they talk about him. I think Quay adds to the team more than most fans realize (certainly me). Maybe Gannon doesn't see it that way though, who knows.

It’s about cost to me. He’s not worth anything past $8-10Mil annual. He is an above average LB, I’m just still on the fence with him. IMO he’s replaceable at less $$ than the likely $10Mil annual he’ll sign for. I’d almost prefer we part from his $10Mil and draft a LB by RD5 area. Similar to what we did there with McDuffie. I’d prefer we use $10Mil annual to get the best version of OC, DT or CB.

I do think GB will appease him an overpay. Which I understand they don’t have time to wait a year he’s plug n play. Which is with something there.

That said I do think GB will resign either Niemann or Welch, so they’ll have 4 LB’s on contract very soon. Just imo. So reestablishing Quay as a fixture would become 5 on contract. That does help alleviate 1 position to not have to focus on this draft. LB. We could wait until RD5-7 etc.

I'm just remembering all those years GB spent looking for their star ILBs. Seemed like a never ending hemorrhage of high draft picks spent trying to fill those spots.... Walker and Cooper have been a solid duo for us. After dropping a 1st and 2nd of course.... We haven't heard much about need at their positions since their arrival

SEems like the middle ground is an even $10/yr.

I did like McDuffie when walker was hurt this year. Others aren't as high on him being a starter. But I seen solid tackling. Just have to question he he can keep that pace a full season....

Yeah, it's been a concept of internal discussions I can confirm and that is the future of Reed for sure. Drafting Golden and Savion, who both have massive overlap with their games to Reed drew stronger speculation on Reed's future than Doubs for me even.

In truth I think if we see it announced that Doubs and Green Bay came to a one year or even multi-year deal that it is shortly followed by the news that Reed is likely on the block or a trade deal was already in the works and will be executed. Now a foolish fan is going to hear this and read this and attack the concept or myself that we are idiots do you not understand Reed has been our leading receiver in yards twice and is a really good weapon....YES, this is all understood.

Sometimes roster decisions have to be looked at beyond the short sighted immediateness and from a what is best for the team overall. This team is firmly in a window to push for a Super Bowl, and yet given the high dollar contracts in place (Love, Parsons, Tom, McKinney) and few big ones to come (Kraft, Watson...Evan Williams...Wyatt)....trying to secure young guys to fill the depth and fill roles eventually on rookie deals is a massively important to sustaining that window as long as possible.

Trading a guy like Reed would suck...however even if say we don't sign Doubs as hinted at above...say he is gone. Wicks and Golden both are the clear candidates to fill that outside receiver role...but even slot work you have Golden, Savion and Bo Melton to a lesser degree ALL of whom have experience and shown promise. MLF used Savion and Golden in many of the same ways he used Reed when Reed was a weapon for us. Reed is also likely the guy with a contract ending that has the HIGHEST trade value with the least team impact...

Now I've heard folks say they think he'd get us a 2nd round pick....and maybe...but I think more likely is you nab a 3rd and like a 5th for him or maybe a clean 3rd but then swap a 4th for our 5th as well or something like that.

I do have a few connections, however the statement comes more from my connections have always confirmed future plans are constantly mapped out and thought through. The construction of the wide receiver room is for sure one of those...and in truth the drafting of Golden and Savion to anyone that understands football and MLF system saw that as more of a potential replacement of Reed than it was a Doubs or Wicks type guy.

As for contracts I was in truth only speaking to guys with impending one year and gone....exception was Evan Williams who is like Bull and Cooper, but IMO has showcased incredible consistency and continues to progress into potentially being elite. I love Bull and Cooper but they're guys I'm likely not extending until that final year or off season.
