Most of the Viking struggles were based on one position on the field which can be remedied gradually or quickly or not at all. In our case the auto repair shop has a lot of equipment to replace or repair.
True. But our Engine is good. Our Starter and Power options? Not so much!

I hear ya. I still have a 20 year old clunker. Just put in new struts, new battery, new alternator, new Serpentine belt assembly, new valve gasket covers, and a new bearing, and last year a new exhaust system.
Now it runs like a Taylor and blocks like a Kramer.

We just installed a 7 yr Becton, a 10yr Tomlinson, and a 15 yr Zeitler, into our clunker... I'm hoping our Green Bay Packard runs like a Deere, and Blocks like a Wahle.

Cute @DoURant real cute! ;)

So far in this season, Myers and Newman would be upgrades. Even a pair of O Lineman that combined are aged 70 should be enough to Supercharge this 2-cylinder

I've been avoiding them because I already can envision what is there. Please don't make me go in there.
Do it and title the threads something along the lines of "Purge the front office, coaching, fire everyone down to the food service cashiers and that guy pushing the pretzel wagon."

I say fire everyone except for Cam Achord. It'll be a packer forum first, only the special teams coach is safe.

So you're saying fire everyone on this list plus the players. I'll agree but make an exception for the interns and the following blue collar departments:

Retail Operations

Lambeau Field & Titletown Events

Facilities

Stadium Services

Well don't you work a part time at the stadium on game days?

I just returned from a long fishing trip, so admittedly I did not read 9 pages of this thread. I did read the OP's post.

Gutekunst is not perfect of course. However, to just base this on Pro Bowlers is lacking perspective. He has made many good moves as well as the bad. The trade for Malik Willis saved two seasons, and that won't be counted in the Pro Bowl assessment. We have great depth at all of the offensive skill positions. The trade for McKinney has worked out great, paired with Evan Williams and Bullard. No Pro Bowls but again great work by the GM. What we lack severely is a competent OL.

Something is wrong at the OL position and it falls mostly on MLF. He is involved in the drafting process and manages the OL coach and players. This is his greatest failure IMO.

Back when the kids were doing the fund raiser activities. I actually would have made more $$$$ if I'd just volunteered to work OT at my regular job.
Great Cause!
God worked on me a few years ago until he pounded it through my stubborn head. His lesson became obvious. Time is our most valuable gift to others. There is no amount of gifts better than showing up for others when they need you.

Damn, foiled by circumstance again. I was going to imply that you working concessions was somehow connected to the teams post season disappointments on the last 10 years. Hence wanting to fire everyone down to the kids pouring soda and serving up hot dogs.

The best coaches, when building a team, start with the OL and DL. That is the foundation of building a team. With those two areas you can manufacture 7-9 wins even if the rest of the positions are mediocre. The rest is gravy.

One thing I do give gute credit for is the ability to find high level talent in the middle rounds.

Gutey raised a lot of eyebrows when he traded up to draft Jordan Love...That move looks pretty brilliant now.

Not every draft pick has worked, but his batting average is better than most. This year, without a first rounder, he managed to add Cisse, DDS and T-Smack, among others. I think his trade for Micah Parsons, a bold move, will pay dividends down the stretch. Those kinds of players do not become available very often.

All-in-all, I'd say he's done a decent job here.

I’ve been critical of Gute. And I know and get that people are frustrated with the Super Bowl drought.

But. We are perennially an above average football team. Sometimes it’s not as much above average as we would like, but there are 31 other teams trying to win the same trophy and all you can do is put yourself in position to be one of the 14 competing for it at the end of every year and then hope to be the healthy and hot team at the end of the year that makes a run.

So if we are perennially above average, there’s really no way to say that the guy in charge of the personnel on the team isn’t above average at his job himself.

I think that's a pretty fair assessment

At the end of the day, I think if you compare overall roster quality top-to-bottom, we are pretty consistently in the top half of the league IMO. Yes there are some weak spots, but when you look at the really bad teams out there - we are consistently in a better spot. Gute still has some weak spots I think (and everyone does) but my gut says that generally speaking what hurts is more is underperforming players (or players not performing up to their potential) than it is just not having good enough players to begin with, or having too low of a talent-ceiling

Gute is an above-average GM but his weaknesses are pretty detrimental. He has a notable inability to draft good players on the dline or oline and that's really hurting the team right now. If he could find a scout that helped fix that problem he would be one of the better GM's in the NFL.

IF Parsons comes back healthy (because you never can tell) or at at least 95% of his old self? That’s at minimum getting our most productive D player added back into the mix. Currently GB is tied for 11th in Sacks, which is remarkable for a team with a an Average to lower 18th blitz %. There’s zero question in my mind if Micah looks similar to his old self by mid season (call it Week 10) that GB will inch towards a Top 5 Sack level Defense.

With our Top notch Safety group we are going to force Opponents to throw quickly into our strength. Hopper, Bullard, Nixon, Franklin and McDuffie, Williams and McKinney are all very capable of closing on short throws. I’d throw Cisse in there also, that guy looks ideal for the short passing game.

Brian has assembled a very good team. Maybe not Elite, but balanced. He could possibly use 1 upgrade at DT that specializes in Run Stop (a TJ Slaton type in trade). GB is that and Micah Parsons away from lifting to another plateau.

Have any Packers rushers slowed their pass rush just a half step in an abundance of caution against all the RTP flags they've been receiving?
I’m not sure. I know the NFL has to find a better way to stay consistent on those as it’s been a wild variance from game to game and official to official.
