But my rebuttal about "What has changed drastically" is that, well, the O-line got so crap so fast we had to do a complete remake of our O-line, which makes me question who's making the calls to not only start the guys that DID start weeks 1-3, but also who is making the call to either let other guys go, or not pursue anyone else.
Not sure what you mean by this part? On the Face ID agree the OL went to crap over 2025. Let’s dig in a little deeper to see why? Let’s also dig into what’s changing.

LT. Rasheed was let go in order to get Morgan involved. Would we honestly expect a player starting for his 1st game or even 3rd game to peak? I think it’s a sacrifice earlier season, but it seems more probably a 1st year starting Blindside would play better down the stretch, once acclimated.

LG
We can speculate, but no one would’ve given Banks a healthy extension if they thought he would start injured. He has dealt with tendinitis but then also a toe injury. 1 toe can cause months of problems. We literally had a LG with near ZERO NFL experience starting next to a player with little to zero experience. Kinda tough there and especially facing the Vikings at Minnesota. That’s a recipe for disaster imo.

OC
While Sean has “filled in” admirably. He’s still more a product of environment. It would’ve been risky to go with a brand new Center imo. He was the most immediate fix. I think Sean was a more natural RG.

RG
While Monk did have 1 good game to finish MN Week 18, he still only really had…. 1 Start. Sound familiar??!
Belton was being groomed to play at RT, where he’s a more natural fit imo. I think we’ve already seen this.

RT. Zach Ton was seen limping in Week1. No wonder why he was sheepish in interviews! The guy wanted to play but was probably 4 weeks minimum from being ready. I commend him for playing injured, but coupled with everything above? Not exactly ideal. Zach was playing at 90% best case. Probably did more damage than help us.

Every position except LT or Center has been affected by injuries. 3 position groups. The other 2 position groups don’t have 1 season of experience added between them. That will change with each passing game. Brian brought in 4 OL with 2-3 Starter quality. We’re noe about to have over 350 Starts between our RG/LG. We have Shawn sniffing a years worth of snaps in a couple weeks time. We have a LT who’s now got 4 games of experience. We have a RT who’s not hurt and actually has played extensively at RT in College. It’s just a more natural flow there.

This isn’t to say 100% fixed.
It is to say we’ve made quite a few moves to rectify mostly injury riddled situations. Either each passing week we gain experience both internally and with player additions. The natural result will be more continuity. In the meantime we need to get our Star RB into the fold.

That's actually well put, I'll give you your flowers for your explanation and breakdown.

Also, Matt's still here. For all the gnashing of teeth about the guy, if he can win this game against the Bears, I'll give him big props. But I'm holding my praise until he proves he doesn't choke away the game like he has done for our last THREE divisional games :)
I think our past starters are now our backups at O line. I wouldn't call that great or even good. If Gute was actually doing his job he'd be replacing those guys one by one imho.

What I mean in the bolded part is I'm asking one of two things. Firstly, is Gute the one solely responsible (I.E, no input from Lafleur or other coaches) for deciding who stays, who goes; what to do or what not to do on the issue of the O-line? Because if it IS solely Gute and He is saying: "These are the guys I'm picking/signing, make it work." That's one issue, one that is fairly big because he is the chief in acquiring talent. If he's lacking, then perhaps toward the end of the year we hear more about Gute getting the ax as well.

The second thing, which is what I was originally alluding to in the part you bolded, is that I don't think Gute is flying blind when acquiring his players. He's getting feedback. From MLF, to the position coaches to the scouts. So, if Gute is getting bad/wrong information about how well the current roster is doing, then really it isn't Gute to blame, but coaching/scouting.

My guess is both GM and Coach meet on these players, but it’s our Coaching Staff who ultimately decides who stays. MLF is that guy.

To be fair though, let’s keep in mind that a Roster build does not end on Day 2 of the Start of our season. It’s an ongoing project and not a finished product. That’s why our GM is always in constant search of where we can better our weakest link. We saw it pretty quickly inside 2 Weeks we had responded to our injury crisis and added Volson, Landen, Mekhi and Kevin to bolster the OL.

I’m convinced Brian has already peaked around the league at RB options, but we’re in no mans land with Josh imo. As far as LB, there’s also a high degree of probability GB is looking to bolster that group IF it’s affordable.

I give utmost respect to divisional games because of how goofy they can be, and the Saints look revitalized under Kellen Moore and Shough (as long as Olave stays healthy, TBF).

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised at how upbeat people are about the Packers after 4 tough weeks. I'm still semi-hopeful we can be competitive. Because, well, Matt's job probably depends on it.

Even Mike Spofford, the Packers senior Editor, has admitted even though there's been some tough injury luck, that doesn't excuse the penalties, fumbles and just lack of basic execution in assignments... As he says in his Inbox, 5th question in.

Last Sunday was a battle of two coaches who could lose their jobs after 2026.

Brian should strongly consider Matt Milano. He does have some concerns with injury, but that’s also the entire reason he should be looking. If he had ongoing health he’d easily $price$ himself out of any equation. We’d be gambling slightly, but he’d be affordable IF he is open to Green Bay as an option, which he may not choose us. My guess is he’s between $3-5Mil Guaranteed (prorated). He did play 50% of the D snaps for Buffalo in 2025 after having an injury riddled 2023-24. His connection? Bobby Babich is directly responsible for promoting his success to All Pro in 2022. Milano is perfect for role and $$. It’s all about him being able to stay on the field. If we got his 2025 version, he’s ideal based on financial and personality and role. He’s quiet but stealthy good and he’s good at everything. His best feature is he can cover, similar to Cooper but maybe a tick slower. He’s likely got 1 or 2 years left in the tank.

I am sure players get graded for each and every play. Lombardi did that. If those grades were sub par he would not keep you on the roster.

You've a lot more faith in this system today than I do. Maybe it has something to do with the people running the system. Lombardi vs who?

Right. It was Lombardi vs. Lombardi. No one was going to question him.

You talked about the system. Who do we have that keeps the system running like a fine tuned engine? Who compares with Vince today?

We have no one that does. But there are some teams with coaches that keep those systems running and push the organization to act. What is unfortunate for Dallas is that if Jerry Jones was Vince Lombardi the Cowboys may have had another 5 SBs.

Worth kicking the tires on?

RB Kaytron Allen was just surprisingly released by the Commanders. He was a 6th round pick just this past year, Penn State's all time rushing yards leader
Frankly I was surprised he was drafted that late. Penn State had a pair of the top 10 RB’s in the country. Behind Notre Dame, but really dynamic duo.

Brian really should perfect a trade for a RB that is a Starter Day 1. When (IF) Josh returns in a few weeks? I’d just pick the better of Kaleb or Marshawn as our RB3. We’re likely going to need at minimum a RB2 for 2027, plus I can see us drafting one in that RD4 area.

Kaleb has the better vision and explosiveness to hit a hole... but he has a fumbling problem. Marshawn is a fantastic receiver out of the backfield and I love him in open space. His vision finding a hole smaller than a truck, and hitting it quickly is concerning.

Do you know of any team with fewer than 5 losses willing to part with a RB1 right now?

I am sure Gute is looking. It would mean a losing team that cannot block for a good back.
In 2010, before the McDermott years, the Bills had Beast Mode. But the rest of the team was lousy except for maybe Nick Barnett. In WK 1 Ryan Grant was lost for the season in the first half of the first game with no real talent to fill the role. The chance to make a play for Beast Mode was floated and the Bills were listening because they needed players and picks. TT opted to do nothing. Our running game did little even with a good OL. In the second half, rookie James Starks was activated. It helped somewhat to get us through that year. Amazing how we won with a limited run game.

Tony Pollard. He’s on a losing team, but he’s averaging a respectable 4.1 per carry and pacing 940 yards rushing. That’s against a Team who ranked 24th in the league getting hit 47% of last season behind LOS. This year Tennessee is flailing as a bottom 5 Run Block unit.

Since 2022, Pollard rushed in excess of 1000+ every season. Pollard is also versed in the passing game averaging 250 yards and 1 TD per season. He’s eclipsed 1,300+ All Purpose in 3 of the last 4 completed seasons.

Did Pollard have a good game against us the last time he faced us?
No but that was our 2024 season. Our Defense was stout against the Run that year. Led by Kenny Clark, Wyatt, TJ, Lukas and Rashan and With Eric Wilson and Quay Walker behind them at LB.
