When the O line is porous and they can also blitz; the corners and everyone else can feel comfortable covering very tightly.

Interesting fact. Moving the chains. Make of it what you will.

In 2025 the Packers were 2nd in the NFL in moving the chains on key downs, which is essentially 3rd down. They were at 48.2%. Romeo Doubs was one of the best in the league with a 74.6% efficiency ratio based on his number of catches. He moved the chains 41 times with 55 catches.

In 2026, we are dead last. That's #32. We are not moving the chains, and our offense stalls out too often. Our efficiency is 27.8%.

You can blame it on the O-line if you want, but reality says that your offense should be able to throw the quick passes that move the chains and we no longer have that without Romeo Doubs. I keep hearing how he's failing in New England, but that's far from true. He only has 6 catches and 4 of them moved the chains and he's 2 for 2 when it comes to 3rd down which keeps drives alive. You can expect to hear more out of him as the season rolls along.

Both Golden and Watson are trying to fill that gap, but the fact is both of them don't have the physical characteristics that allows them to take the repeated hard hits you get when you're that "go to guy" to keep the chains moving. As far as Tucker Kraft, it's normal for a TE to move chains and he can be one of the best in his group. It's just a matter of getting the offense to recognize that they need to design plays that have quicker releases from Love. The ball needs to come out in about 2.0 seconds flat because he's only getting 2.3 seconds on average to throw the ball. If it was 2.6, you could add a couple yards to each catch.

Synopsis, every team needs a guy who will sacrifice his body to make those catches. Over the years the Packers were blessed with that kind of talent. Jordy did it when necessary, Donald Driver earned his spot on the team accepting that role and moved forward, and there are others. Right now, that guy isn't taking the field in GB. Until they find someone, don't expect the chains to move efficiently.
I think Sturdivant is working towards that role. Smart kid, it'll get him onto the field ALOT more.

That’s the thing, Jones actually doesn’t have more wear. Despite playing in ~24 less games Jacobs has approximately 200 more scrimmage touches
Jones also has an OL playing well and blocking for him,GB so far has proven not to have an OL that can block in PP or R. As for Lloyd, if our OL is young/new/inexperienced what is Lloyd as a RB? The guy is in year 3 and has played in 4 games in that number of years! Not just inexperienced but frankly, not what most would consider elite or even very good- he can get carries but whether he can be the guy is highly questionable even with an experienced line.

I really like Sturdivant. This is a great opportunity for him to shine. He had a great Camp and Preseason, now it’s time to bring it up a notch and earn his place on next years Roster. He’s fortunate in a way that we’re getting reinforcements and should see slight improvement the next couple of weeks.

I was fortunate to do business with former WR, Kendall Wright this week. Nice guy! I was picking his brain on some players. One player that stood out to him was RB Demarco Murray. He said his legs were easily bigger than Derrick Henry. That kinda surprised me. He also thought Skyy Moore is plenty good enough to fill Reed’s spots, regardless of some warranted speculation.

Interesting thoughts on Moore. His history shows very few pass receptions and scant yardage. He got the ball more on jet sweeps apparently and was employed for punt returns. He showed a 4.4 in the 40. Punt return men who stick with teams usually have good hands, no doubt about that or they don't stick. His production has increased in each of the 3 games played so far this year. Maybe he could fill that role.

Honestly I thought GB was going to destroy Tampa. 0-3. Undrafted rookie QB.

Tampas top tier Dline against our week 3 Oline would’ve been ugly again. That infusion of big veteran guards week 4 probably saved the game for GB.

GB to win the superbowl was 66/1 on the betting app. I thought 20/1 to start the season was good odds. 66/1 is just silly. Shows how little respect GB has apparently:).

That’s good.

The offensive and defensive lines will settle in by mid season, and GB will be rolling again.

Interesting that the only "oustside" player today was Tomlinson. With all the injuries at G (Banks, Monk, and Zietler all inactive) we slide over Travis Glover, college tackle. And he did just fine.
If that's right; it unfortunately shows that LaFleur doesn't even know who should be playing or where. Maybe he just listens to Stenavich who listens to his friend Butkus. Either way, LaFleur should have a feeling for those things imho

I’m have a few points there.

1. Part of having assistant coaches is to drive those choices.

2. In limited action, Glover had looked mediocre at best. I presume he got the start because on the short list that meet the requirement “been here long enough to at least know the verbiage AND played in training camp somewhere in 2026.”

3. I’m pointing out that our best option at RG was a converted college tackle. Whatever loves to complain about.

Hopefully Glover was not 100% healthy or something because if nothing else it's a little concerning that it took until Week 4 to even give him a single snap...and then looked like an immediate and obvious improvement. I can kind of understand if you train with one set of guys for most the week maybe you don't wanna throw in someone who's not got many practice reps, but of course that would then beg the question - why wouldn't he be getting passing reps when the competition sure isn't getting it done?

We start playing the big boys once midseason comes along. And with REAL QBs. Big difference from the Bucs and Jets of the NFL.

True. But the big game is next.
There are no big games this season. Just games. One opponent to the next is another contest. Maybe we will see an upset or two. When the Packers were one of the elite teams in the last 2 decades some floundering squad would come in and knock us off every once in a while. But the reality is that we just are what we are in 2026. Play hard, develop, and look to 2027 to improve.

Well, it's big to me. And I hope to the players.

Some of the players recall 2025, of course. But a lot of them were not here and the effect of Bear-Packer rivalry is not absorbed. There is no Rodgers around who battled Urlacher, Tillman, and Lovie. 2025 was good because both teams were competitive. Personally, I'd get more amped to face a team that has been more of a thorn for a long time like the 9ers or Eagles.

I think you are arguing just to argue. It's the Packers bears whether the young players know it or not.

I would have rather celebrated a win over the Vikings. That has been the bigger rivalry over the last 35 years. It has become like the Army-Navy game. If the Vikings beat us then Paul Allen's season is a success no matter how they fold in the postseason.

Both you and @milani make good points. This a huge game if have any chance of being semi-decent this year. But at the same time, it is just another game. If the players get too amped up and start messing up because they're in their own head... well, we've seen so far how that goes.

Personally, I think Ben Johnson takes Lafleur's lunch, and we hear about it all week. I'm talking like 35-14 or something.

Completely disagree that its just another game. And I think we could play them tough. And if so; the game is up for grabs.

I appreciate the optimism, but this screams ugly loss. Ben Johnson is winning games with Tyson Bagent and freaking Case Keenum. And here WE are struggling to beat a (now) 0-4 Bucs team who started an undrafted rookie at QB.

Don't get me wrong, I would be BEYOND thrilled if we could pull out a game. But, as of now the line of -3 underdogs, at home nonetheless, says a lot.

I hope you are right. But it reminds of some of those Favre and Rodgers years when we could show up knowing the Bears would lose no matter what. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

You misunderstand me. It's a big game because it's against chicago. This was The heated rivalry before the vikings existed. My grandfather hated Hallas. He said they paid the refs when they played in Daly city. And actually, I believe that.

That may be true. It’s also way too early to be focusing on 2027 and that’s what we would be doing imo.
Let’s just imagine for a second that GB upsets Chicago or Dallas for that matter? They’d be 3-2 of 3-3 and needle pointing up either 11 or 12 games remaining. I think we forget there is trade deadline approaching and several teams will be very interested in a 5th or 6th rounder for a starting caliber player in a contract year.
Suddenly you’ve add Zeitler the following week and Jacobs the week after. Then Micah practicing and a substantial trade for a good, starting level player at LB or RB or WR or similar if needed. That’s 3 to 4 starters added to our mix.

My father was a Bears fan and all my relatives were as well. They thought the Packers were the doormat and then Vince showed up and they ate crow except for 1963. But really it was Unitas and the Colts and the Giants that were the ones that were the toughest opponents. The Bears played tough but they lacked a good QB for a long time.

We are also 4 games into the season and have how many players with season ending injuries? At that rate the second half of the season will see different faces out there. We have to play these games but we have to be realistic. We are 2-2 but if we had played the same teams as the Rams or Broncos we'd be 0-4. This is a good time for these unknowns to gain valuable experience like Pierre Strong.
I recall back in 2006 Favre told the media he did not know the names of a couple of his receivers but he threw the ball to them to make a play. And they caught it.
