A thought has been coming and going in my head. What if we kept Crosby for our FG kicker, and Rayner for our kick off man? He has some very nice kick offs. just a thought

Crosby has some very nice kick-offs also. Both have a big leg, so there's really no value in keeping both on the roster.

there is a value in keeping both on the team imo. You dont let one get away and help another team, and were not absolutely 100% sure that either one of them can do an outstanding job.

Crosby\Rayner both have about the same kickoff power, right?

I don't know where this "Rayner is so much better than Crosby at kickoff" stuff is coming from.

Please, someone post something that says Rayner is so much better than Crosby at kickoffs.

Rant over.

(I want the best FG kicker. Both seem adequate at kickoffs)

So you prefer hurting our team by dumping an extra WR, DL, DB or RB just to prevent another team from getting one of the kickers?? If we're not certain that either of them can do a great job (as you just stated) then why should we keep them both??

I still see no logic in keeping both kickers. If they are almost even to each other right now, then just keep the one with greater potential.

I wonder if we could keep an extra kicker though...

We're eventually going to have to cut someone once K-Rob comes back, so perhaps keeping both Crosby and Rayner for that time might be worthwhile...

Keep 2 QBs, cut Martin and Thompson and use that spot to keep the extra kicker. That way, when we are ready to let go of one kicker once K-Rob is back, there might be a team that surfaces with a need for a K and we can get something of good value in return (more so than we could at this point).

Ingle has looked like someone who doesn't deserve a roster spot, based on his performance in TC thus far.

Arnt we pretty sure that Crosby is a pretty damn good kicker? If not, then why did we waste a draft pick on a kicker?

When i posted this i was wondering how Crosby was on kickoffs. It slips my mind if i saw crosby kick off in the first preaseason game. If he did and i cant remember how did he do?

His kickoffs ended up in the endzone with no return. The problem here is both kickers are the same. Big legs that can launch it. If one was deadly inside 45 but couldn't get one past that then it would be worthwhile.

It's not really a problem but both are good on the short one's and both can boom it so it's likely one will go. If a spot for the second one wouldn't hurt ust to bad it would worth thinking about holding one until some team finds a dire need.
We could end up with a good trade for a player we need rather than just letting one go to another team for nothin'.

Alright thanks for the feedback. Another question that maybe has been asked already, but who would you rather see on the team? Crosby or Rayner?

If we were talking about the competition between a Ryan Longwell and either Rayner or Crosby I could see using a roster space for both, one a good field goal kicker with weak kickoffs, the other less accurate but a strong leg as a kickoff specialist. But we're not, Rayner & Crosby seem almost identical in leg strength.

So I guess if I had to make a decision I'd probably go with Crosby at this point. Cheaper, younger and has been more accurate in camp so far. Also, Rayner was only ranked 29th in the NFL in field goal percentage last year. Even taking into account kicking in the elements in Green Bay, that leaves a lot of room for improvement.

I think both Crosby and Rayner are about equal. One does not play off the others weakness BUT for ***** n grins, let's keep them both.

We have four weeks to find a trade partner for one of them. Make it for a draft pick and then you got that spot open for Koren Robinson to come back an fill.
