As I said you actually had a nice find I thought. Perfect age example also. I think Mills is like 1 month older Earlier 3rd Rounder vs. Later 1st Rounder so that’s in the same realm.

But here’s the result of that finding. How many people in here would take a call tonight and trade Love for Mills and be enthused?

Point being we really have not hit on a huge success story here either. Mills isn’t really arguably better than Jordan even with 11 regular season games. Look at how he started also. His first few regular season games were pretty rough, use Wiki. But as expected.
I like that player comparison though nicely done. Anyone else??

I liked it better when the trade was for Stills, then they just had to get Nash to leave basketball for football.

How many games do you think the Packers win with Love as a starter?

as I been preaching for 2 years. Team wanted to wait 4 years...so right now, maybe 8. he is now a average game manager at best . This is why the def has been stacked and they finally got a st coach


i think 2024 he will be ready to be a good starter.

They watched Hundley in Practice...they knew he did not have it..that is what Practices are for. Same with Love. He was NEVER worth a 1st round pick..they passed on or could have waited. Nobody had him above a third round pick.

He's gotta be sniffing something. Love at one point was being talked about as a top 10 pick and then some soured on him and thought late 1st early second. "Nobody had him above 3rd round".

Actually that’s untrue. I saw about a dozen sites just before the draft that had Love at a consensus 25 area. I saw only a minimal number of singular draft projections that had Love outside of a top 64 pick.

Sometimes a GM might reach more on Day 3 across Rounds (move from a 6th area consensus to a later 4th rounder etc.) but it’s rare a GM skips rounds into a Day 1 selection. I think Brian thinks Love was a bargain in the late Day 1 area. Brian could’ve waited a few more selections into our natural pick, but he thought enough that he used a 4th rounder (highly coveted area) to lock him down as a Packer and not risk it. That to me speaks volumes of how impressed they were with Love. It’s a cheap price to pay to get a QB that fits your criteria of a system fit. If you lose the bet, it’s really not an area you get a 1st team All-Pro type level player too often. Your more likely to get a Savage, Datone, Haha D. Randall or similar player. Those are NOT really what I’d call franchise breakers there to have an early shot at a franchise QB.

For me it’s about cost. I might be more in agreement with you had we traded away a Day 1 future and moved into the top 10-15 overall area or so. However, We can recoup from a #26 by moving around the board etc (as seen in recent drafts)

I will admit that I have doubted if Love has what it takes to be the next starting quarterback of the Packers. I will say that the jury is still out on that. Yes there was a reason why the Packers wanted Rodgers back last year so desperately but this past weekend’s performance by Love was vastly improved. He looked a whole lot better than the week before and He deserves credit for the improvement. It is very seldom the quarterback’s fault when receivers drop an on target ball or when some unavoidable interceptions take place. All young quarterbacks go through growing pains. I am willing to sit back and see what happens with Love. I do know one thing for certain I would hate the pressure of being a starting quarterback in the NFL! When things are going well and the team is winning everyone loves You; but when things go South it is the quarterback’s fault usually. Not a fun situation to be in.

Obviously yes. We haven’t had a return in investment. Let’s face it though to draft a QB outside of a top 20 comes with more risk than WR. Bigger losses or bigger gains compared to other position groups depending on how said QB works out. If that QB gets canned, then he’s a total waste.

On the flip side a #26 overall is relatively minuscule if that QB makes it as a starter. I think that’s mainly because a starting QB’s “effect” on the game (impact) is far greater than any other position.

Love has work to do to pass Pittman, oddly we hope that he never sees the field and Rodgers plays 3-4 more years. Yet I’m not sure we can assume that either, so it’s wise to have a few options in the pipeline.

Yup and look at all the young QB's drafted in the first round of the last 10 or so drafts. How many have already flopped or about to? He'll, how many first rounders including the 2020 draft are busts?

Takes quite a few regular season game starts before you really know what you have in a QB. Even guys like Kaepernick, Garoppolo, Mayfield, etc., had times where they looked like the next great thing and then bombed.

Expensive position and if you find the right one, a super worthy investment.

My only concern with Love is this. His check downs are off target at times. He has a great arm, but needs seasoning its true. I also notice his confidence and command seems to be growing little by little. About the only thing I would say is that he needs to study AR12 almost habitually and catch the nuances of the offense based on it. Clements is starting to groom Love I think, and that could prove to be a vastly improved player in number 10.

Was all part of "the plan" that Gute had in his mind on draft night when Love was there for the taking. Probably what wasn't in the plan was AR drinking from the Brady fountain of youth or the roller coaster ride that Rodgers and The Packers have been on the last 18 months. The good news, the Packers have three 13 win seasons in a row, Rodgers is still playing great and Love can still be under contract with the Packers for 2 more seasons after this one, to continue to learn, improve and potentially be a starter in the NFL.

Love is starting to remind me of Jimmy Garoppolo. Drafted with the idea of taking over for a FHOF QB, but Brady ended up lasting longer in New England and the NFL, than anyone expected. Same thing could happen for Love, Rodgers and the Packers. If it did, I'd be just fine with that.

While I'm not a gambling man, I'd actually put my money down on them not picking up that option. Is that a prop bet anywhere?

The biggest question is, how much would other teams be willing to pay Love, as a free agent? It's difficult saying just how much he'd get. But, the $22-25 mill is not out of the question. It could also be $5-8 mill. We can't be certain. It all pretty much depends on who's available through FA, other than him.

How far will Rodgers go with his game? I think he's playing it one at a time. A bad season, in his eyes, an injury, almost anything, could trigger him to retire. Then again, being in the top 3 or 4 this year in the MVP race might make him feel rejuvenated.

Another thing I believe is pressing him on is Brady. As long as he keeps coming back, Rodgers is probably going to want to play for one season after him. But, that's just conjecture.

Good news is the 5th year option pick up discussion is for a later date and many scenarios with that and up to that can play out.

In the end it is quite clear now that Love has played a “normal” amount of PS games one typically does in a single year - that maturation is for sure happening and you can finally at least to me see the chops there in the raw talented prospect he was (yes overdrafted in the opinion of nearly all of us).

This last game Love did very well and yet left a lot of things to polish and refine - that’s an excellent sign.
