Shocked by the pick. I think we have so much talent in the WR room, but as Gute and others said, they were true to their board. I suspect they had a much higher grade on him.

As far as the player, my first thoughts were he has bad hands. So that is a big concern. It doesn't seem common that guys are able to correct that.

As far as the player, he is very interesting. I think we have a very creative offensive coaches. I am excited to see how we end up using him and what he can do for this offense. He will be a unique weapon for sure. I see a lot of orbit motions with runs, screens, or splitting the seem.

Overall I like the pick, a lot, and that is primarily because of what MLF can do with him.
Yeah, what I read about the hands wasn't good. Because of his size, and if he can learn to catch the ball b4 he thinks about running with it, he sure could be a niche player who could stick around I guess. But I doubt he's good enough to keep around if he doesn't catch the ball, and very well. I do have to say that I don't know what his roles wii be.

For myself, our using multiple Day1-2 selections at WR doesn’t give me a heavy vote of confidence in several players.
I can see the question marks on both Watson and Doubs. Both are not only in a contract year, but both have had substantial injuries that are concerning. You’d have to reasonably plan for replacing Watson for likely a 1/2 season or more.. Enters Golden.

Then do you sign Doubs to a sizable deal? That doesn’t give me warm and fuzzies. It’s likely 1 of those 2 are gone in 2026 imo. I think Savion is insurance on Doubs and Golden insurance on Watson. It also gives us better leverage to not feel we have to overpay either player if we do retain them.

Savion the more and more I’ve thought on this rookie class is my sneaky pick to potentially have the biggest return from a per snap basis. I don’t think he is actually going to see a ton of snaps - especially not early BUT…

This cat was who the entire TCU attack was designed around, they rushed him, they wildcatted him, they sweeped him, they screened him, and they split him out…

If he was going to be a pure WR he truly IMO may not make the team but as a RB and Hback type TE hybrid with for sure low tier WR ability - that’s a Swiss Army knife that can do some cutting.

Imagine if you’re a team seeing him come in motion for the jet, he could get the snap, the front toss, a flat slip scree, he blocks edge and you run it behind him…fake all that and he runs an actual route….

This versatile cat could become a special little cog in an offense that already has shown is crazy good

Savion is that 3rd Round Boom or Bust. He’s exceptionally versatile and physically gifted. It’s about what most evaluators kept saying. If put in the right system with play calling to his strengths, he could flourish. If stretched too thin or giving him too many hats? He could spiral into a minor contributor. He moves super fluid. He’s got a strong base and he can pluck a ball away from a Defender with ease.

Here’s a good back to back covering both our WR’s selected this draft.

Starting at 18:40 we cover Golden, who Pre-Combine Mel had him 20-34 overall area. Really a fringe Day1 but recall the Combine boosted his Stock some.
Next they review Savion Williams pre Combine. Really makes you think we could have the steal of this draft.

I had no idea Savion grew up 15 minute drive from where I’ve worked the last 7 years.

I think it would be very interesting to see Williams and Willis offensive packages on three or four snaps a game. I don't think LaFleur could actually commit to it though. He freezes and stays with what is comfortable imo.

It could make Willis more valuable. I'm just glad we've kept him at this point
